  1. I wonder if this is old news or new news. Either way, rule of thumb says that you don't buy treats from China http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/dogtreat.asp
  2. Hi Sheridan, for Grumpy maybe 2-->3tsp of dried HR (Westiemum uses 1 tsp I think) soaked in 1/2 cup hot water to make up a tea, leave it to steep overnight and mix 1/2 of it in with his breakfast then the other 1/2 with his dinner. Don't buy any more, I have HEAPS and can send a couple of sandwich bags to you if ya PM me your address. If it works on Grumpy-good, if it doesn't-it won't hurt him.
  3. It may be due to the Xmas mail though I bought some PJ's from E-Bid, they were posted on Friday 18th Nov and I received them Friday 25th, One week from Shropshire to Oz...how good is that!
  4. A little Off Topic but for kidney stones Pelletory of the Wall is an excellent remedy, no joke, that it is it's name. It has helped Penny. http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/p/pelwal22.html read to the bottom where 'Ben Jonson says'

  6. I might be able to answer that. In mandarin corgi is 'ke ji' (kerr gee). Curious how shih tzu is supposed to be pronounced without the t sound?? Also white highland west terrier. In other parts of the world, it's just the Cesar dog (here My dog). Well my West Highland White Terrier I've heard neighbours say oh look there is a scottish terrier at least its in the general direction :S might not be colour :S +1 (they have also been called Maltese )

  11. A friend sent me this, A DOG'S SEEING EYE DOG Lily is a Great Dane that has been blind since a bizarre medical condition required that she have both eyes removed. For the last 5 years, Maddison, another Great Dane, has been her sight. The two are, of course, inseparable.

  17. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/dogs-two-day-ordeal-in-wheelie-bin-20111111-1nb26.html A woman has been fined $4000 after throwing her neighbour's dog into a wheelie bin, where it remained for two days before it was found in a dehydrated and distressed state. Merlina Salko-Sarri, 50, pleaded guilty today to one charge of animal cruelty in Holland Park Magistrates Court after admitting to putting the dog, named Rufus, in a wheelie bin outside an abandoned house. The court was told the pet was used a pawn in a neighbourhood dispute over renovations made by the dog's owner. Advertisement: Story continues below Salko-Sarri had intended to dump the dog in bushland, but panicked and threw it in the black wheelie bin on Elberta Street in Macgregor on May 29 this year, the court heard. An 80-year-old woman, living next door to the abandoned house, heard Rufus's cries and found the poodle-cross wrapped in plastic inside the bin. She rescued the dog and alerted authorities. Magistrate Colin Strofield said any reasonable member of the community would regard Salko-Sarri's actions as reprehensible. He fined her $4000, but recorded no conviction because she would otherwise loose her job as a casino cashier.

  20. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-11-09/20111109-dog-pulled-from-beaconsfield-mine-shaft/3654832 A police search team has rescued a dog which spent the night trapped in a mine shaft near Beaconsfield in northern Tasmania. Paul Clements and his dog Bridie were hunting wallaby near Flowery Gully last night when the one-year-old fox terrier disappeared. Mr Clements could not find it and started searching again this morning. He eventually found the dog down a seven-metre deep abandoned mine shaft. He lowered food and water and called police and the SES. A five-man team spent the morning working to free the dog which was hauled to the surface just before midday.
  21. After reading this I decided to have another go at Mac's nails, I was going to take him to the vet so he could be sedated, he has had a phobia about his feet ever since I got him at around 7 y/o. I sat him on a towel on the veranda table and gave him a tiny dry kibble every time he didn't squeak or go huuuuh huuuuh, and managed to clip and dremel all his toes. I used 1 & 1/2 cups of tiny kibble to do the job, Mac upchucked the lot shortly after (well it had to happen)...Penny helped him re-eat it. Anyway, it wasn't too much of a trauma after all, thank goodness for food-driven dogs.
