  1. Vet and Pet Direct is an Australian supplier, they are excellent to deal with (though other local suppliers are slightly cheaper) they do international shipping so it may be worth while to consider them next time you order, they are also quick to answer any questions. There shipping info is here and the Simparica here I hope this helps a little edited to add that I and checked this supplier who I do buy my Bravecto and Nexgard from and their shipping is: International Shipments Orders shipping to countries other than Australia (International Shipping) will incur an additional $14.95 shipping cost. Their Simparica is here Hopefully you won't incur an import tax so you'd better check that before buying
  2. You could ask your vet about monthly Synovan injections, my old boy did ok on them, check the 'What is Synovan' heading here I give my 12y/o Dandie, Zara, 1tsp Cen Oil daily (I use the horse one as it was given to me) as well as 3/4 tsp of Glucosimine/Chondroitin powder. I have found the most economical is from here I have really noticed an good improvement in Zara's mobility since she has been on the Cen Oil. It has also helped with new hair growth on my 'skin' Westie
  3. Zara has to have 1/2 Urimav tablet morning and night and it's impossible to get the tablet to stay down even when I push it right down into her gizzards (gizzard: medical term for a long long way down her oesophagus lol), she'd just huck it up so I fixed that by dissolving it in a little water and mixing it with her meat and vegie slops...works a treat

  5. Give Cen Oil a go (get the horse one) I use it for Zara, 1 tsp in the morning, she now goes up and down the 17 steps quite happily, it won't harm your dog and it may be beneficial (edited to say that Zara weighs 11--12kg) https://cennutrition.com.au/stockists/ and from the general web search here
  6. There are 13 litters available in Qld at the moment and there are 30+ puppies available so it may be a plan to re-think being a breeder
  7. survey at the bottom of this link https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06-25/qld-dangerous-dog-consultation-new-laws-jail/102521068
  8. Dandies love vegetables (and some fruit) the biggest treat is a cabbage leaf stalk, the Westies not so much though the little scunners do eat the cabbage stalks so the others don't get them. Dandelion flowers are also particularly yummy
  9. and a little more here https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/farming/117275432/meet-the-huntaway--the-dog-new-zealand-calls-its-own

  13. I was thinking that exact thing mairead here's some more from a Welsh walker's diary: In Beddgaelert, we took a walk by the river and visited the grave of the legendary Gelert, the hound who protected his master’s infant child from a giant wolf. When the baby’s father, Prince Llywelyn, returned from the hunt, saw blood on the dog and no sign of his son, he killed Gelert believing him responsible. As Gelert fell, the prince heard his son cry and found him safe with the slain wolf nearby. space The faithful Gelert Horrified by his actions, the prince, it is said, never smiled again. The village is named in honor of this brave dog. Beddgelert=the grave of Gelert.
  14. Ages back I took Henry and Zara to an Earth Dog fun-day at Durack, they didn't have rats (unfortunately as Henry would have cleaned them up quick-smart) they had a fox-tail on a stick, Henry went through the caged tunnel ok but only because he thought the fox-tail was something to eat, he couldn't figure out why it required so much effort for such a low-grade treat. Zara was just soooo uninterested in the whole hunting thing and wouldn't go in the tunnel at all! so much for rat-killer Dandies she was happy sitting on a hay bale just waiting for a treat
  15. A little but to partly answer @Adrienne's question: when you buy your stripping knife get the one that has a groove to put your thumb, an example here (though the teeth are to coarse for your dog) I find they are more comfortable and easier to use than the flat-sided bladed ones. Wear rubber gloves also as your fingers get sore if you don't, you can buy little finger condoms like these . if you are using a stripping stone I find it's cheaper to buy a Heros Chiropody sponge (it's a type of pumice stone) from Chemist Warehouse here it does a good job. Just do 10 minutes on your dog each day
  16. I had a search on FB @asal ---> https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091380890365 and like heaps of dog "adoption" pages it appears to be a scam. If ya feel like some stirring perhaps it'd be fun to string them along
  17. Hi @Jayrii hopefully some others here can suggest some solutions. Here's a site especially for Labs https://www.thelabradorsite.com/blind-dog/ and you can buy a halo which will allow your dog to be outside without bumping in to stuff, some pics here and maybe you or an electronics-geek friend can make one of these https://www.instructables.com/Sonar-Collar-for-Blind-Dogs/ and a video that may give you some good ideas
  18. Oh, just look at their sticky-up tails! Lovely pups Adrienne

  20. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/dog-found-trapped-in-underground-rabbit-hole-after-5-days/ Given the breed I don't think he'll learn from his experience SWNS A distraught pet owner has been reunited with her beloved dog after he was found trapped in a rabbit hole five days after disappearing. 33-year-old Sarah Mclellan was left devastated after her beloved dog Ralph disappeared while out on a walk near their English home in Haworth, West Yorkshire last week. Mclellan and her husband then spent their weekend searching for the wire-haired Dachshund. They recruited volunteers; made posts for “Lost Dog” Facebook groups; and even had a woman create a website for Ralph – all to no avail. “On Friday it was horrendous weather, it was freezing and we just couldn’t find him anywhere,” said Mclellan. “As you can imagine at this point your mind goes wild thinking, ‘what’s happened? Has he drowned? Has something bad happened?’ LOOK: Good Samaritans Save Drowning Animal From Frozen River Only to Discover It Was a Wild Wolf “My son had asking us where Ralphy was. He was opening the front door and shouting for him – it was heartbreaking,” she added. “We just had to tell him that Daddy was looking for him.” Miraculously, the terrified pooch was eventually sniffed out by his sister Edie while she was out on a walk with Mclellan’s husband on Monday. Ralph was trapped five feet underground in a maze of rabbit runs located just half a mile from his home. After two hours of careful digging, the pup was finally rescued. SWNS “The rabbit holes are like mazes and he must have gone through one hole and got stuck – he had made himself a hole in the middle but he couldn’t get out again,” said Mclellan. “When he got out the hole he went for a wee – and then carried on as if nothing had happened! “When I got back home I opened the door and there he was in the kitchen,” she added. “I couldn’t believe it.” MORE: Thousands Are Rejoicing Over Photos of a Chubby Rat’s Rescue From a Manhole Cover Despite losing weight while he was trapped in the hole, Ralph was not left with any serious injuries. “Ralph is completely knackered and he has worn down his nails from where he was trying to dig himself out, but he is otherwise fine,” said Mclellan. “He’s lost weight and he’s so tired – he just needs time to build himself back up again.” SWNS The relieved owner hopes that her happy ending will give others hope that their pets will also be found. “It was such a drama and I was still in shock when I saw him – I was up till 1am last night just cuddling him. “He does like chasing rabbits and he does that a lot but he just took it too far this time. Hopefully he has learnt his lesson this time.”
