  3. this is not a bad price, one left. would it fit Sarah and Andy? eBay item number: 112015090081 http://www.ebay.com....F8AAOSwxndXTrUV eta, would it be worth while buying that wrong-size door, taking out the doggie door and putting it in your door? you also get a screen door with it
  4. Is there a demo place near you? perhaps measure up your original door and buy a second-hand door that is the same size and has a doggie door already in it also search gumtree...there is this one at Brighton, is that too far from you? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/brighton/building-materials/wooden-door-and-security-screen-door/1114905391
  5. Tears in my eyes. I am so sorry, what a lovely boy.
  6. helping to raise funds for the Connecticut Dachshund Rescue and Pet Services I can't copy and paste the whole article/pictures so you'll need to click on The Guardian link Fun was had by all! http://www.theguardi...ace-in-pictures
  7. It was not a smooth ride ....... nor a smooth finish . On a couple of days Danny was pretty sick (he is very old after all and we elderlies have bad days) and all I wanted to do was to lie on the couch with him, but at times I was so cross, I just had to leave the house for a few hours. The man is, I believe OCD, and I don't think I have ever experienced anyone so argumentative. Anyway, I can now spend as much time as I like lazying around with Danny and the others   But is it all better now? Shoddy job from last time fixed? good news about the finishing of the painting débâcle DDD. have you seen these dog halo vests? maybe you can make one for Danny https://www.google.c...iw=1375&bih=805
  8. Daisy gets her after-dinner bone in the walk-in pantry (it's a 1m x 2m room) If she is given her bone somewhere else where she perceives the other two may nick it she is anxious so she has her own private-time for bone eating. After she has finished whines to be let out but if I am tardy she barks a demanding bark (Westies are past masters at the demanding bark) to be let out. I reckon she can hear the bark in her head...no ears needed.
  9. Daisy has been deaf for over a year now, we cope ok with hand signals and stomping on the floor to get her attention. I find the gentlest way to wake her up (if I need to) is blow on her head so she doesn't get startled. when Daisy could hear I am thankful that the obedience trainer taught us to do hand as well as voice commands
  10. Koala Park at Victoria Point (on the Cleveland- Redland Bay rd) excellent vets. Jo and Kevin's son Jed is practising there now and he is good. Their prices are also very reasonable. They have saved Penny and Mac eta...Donatella also takes her tiny little ones there
  11. I'm so glad she came through the surgery ok, it's also good to know she is zonked out with painkillers. Hopefully Amber will be feeling heaps better tomorrow.
  12. Penny gets a monthly Pentosan injection (around $22) it keeps her from being too creaky, she is also on .5ml of Meloxicam daily so it all helps. She gets up the outside steps (17 of them) really fast but can't get down, bit of a bummer as she wants to go for a wee at 3.30am so she needs to be carried down.

    Mac

I can't help myself from posting...yep, Sideways Mac again I still think of my old xbred dog, Harry, who went over the bridge quite a few years ago, you do stop grieving WM, grieving turns to memories of the funny, and quirky things they did. Grieving turns into lovely warm memory-spots in your heart
  14. O dear DDD, old dogs are such a worry aren't they, and there is nothing we can do...what I mean is they are not going to get better. They get creaky and their hearts begin to fail but so long as their tails keep wagging furiously and they potter about happily that is all we can hope for. It just sucks Hugs from me and Creaky 17 year old Penny and my 16 year old Mac with his congestive heart
  15. This for sale is on Gumtree Qld this morning, maybe a DOLer will be interested. the seller says that they will post free within Australia. http://www.gumtree.c...ogs-/1112437872
  16. course they do Scottsmum, foxes can find that heavenly gate ajar. and snick through it in a flash Have fun over the Bridge Roxy-fox
  17. A friend of ours gave us a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. I bought some new heads for it. The dogs like it, I reckon it's because I don't push too hard or vigorously on their teeth which I tend to do with hand brushing. It's easy to use though you need to switch it on when it's in their mouths as all the toothpaste flies off and splatters all over the walls have a search around as there are usually some good deals offered. Anyway, this is it: http://www.philips.c...tric-toothbrush and the heads here--> http://www.ebay.com....YUAAOSw6EhUUgAX
  18. There is an old thread here (which is really no help at all, so it's of interest only) http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/247356-patterdale-terrier/
  19. hhahaha...the photos of the pups on the dog bed, they are thinking such a long waaay down, we'll go and have a nap instead. Thank you for posting pics Starkehre, it's always a good start to my mornings.
  20. Quite a few online stores have it but Vet and Pet Direct are great to deal with. I'd recommend them http://www.vetnpetdi...mL#.VwDBlj8vC1I
  21. we don't use rat poison, and the neighbours have dogs too (except of one)...so it's not likely - I'm more worried about Toxoplasmosis and other parasites they can carry, so normally I dispose the rats and mice if I catch her catching one... Mac doesn't eat them, he disposes rats without human intervention usually behind the sofa cushions
