  1. Is this article about one of a DOL poster? http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland...00512-uvdu.html Women injured and animals killed in overnight fires MARISSA CALLIGEROS May 12, 2010 - 7:56AM Two people have been injured and and a number of animals killed or hurt in separate house fires in South-East Queensland overnight. At 3.15am fire engulfed a dog breeder's home in Caboolture, north of Brisbane, where at least 20 dogs were kenneled. Firefighters battled the fire at the Ellwood Drive property in Bellmere for nearly an hour, but at least two dogs died in the blaze. RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty said one adult dog, two puppies and a cat which suffered smoke inhalation and severe burns were also taken to an animal shelter. "Our ambulance is now going to pick up another 10 dogs from the property that survived, but are believed to be injured,” Mr Beatty said. He said firefighters feared several more dogs may have died in the blaze. "We do not know exactly how many dogs died inside the house. Firefighters did say there were a number of bodies there." Meanwhile a mother-of-two suffered burns to her airways when fire engulfed her family's home in Goodna, Ipswich. The family of four managed to escape the burning home after they were woken by a smoke alarm, but the house was gutted. Firefighters were called to the Arkins Cresent home about 11.40pm, however they found it engulfed in flames and could do little to save the property. The woman was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment. Fire investigators are due to scour the two properties today in a bid to determine the causes of the blazes.
  2. Yep, use a hatchet, lie the ribs over a handy log (and I bet ya don't have a log handy ) and chop chop chop them up in correct sized pieces, chopping is HEAPS easier than a knife or scissors, if you don't have a hatchet an old handsaw will do the job ok.
  3. Thanks Nekhbet, I didn't think he was that as he seemed bigger and kinda didn't look as tho' he had Maltese in him that's why it had me stumped!, I was thinking of a bigger dog starting with 'M', perhaps he is malt X Standard Poodle...the mind boggles, let's not go there
  4. Ok, I think I am having a senior moment here but I have wracked my brains and I can't figure out what a moodle is ...obviously a poodle/something or maybe a typo (tho' the 'p' and the 'm' are a fair way away from each other on the keyboard). Poor dog looks so confused, I hope someone gives him a home soon. http://www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/web/guest/lost-pets edited to include the link to the Fraser Coast Pound (another senior moment!)

    Noahs Ark

I see that K-Mart has Westie-sized life jackets for $15, be handy for all the smaller dogs in case they are pushed over the side by those two elephants that can't see behind them.
  6. Hi Labsrule, I couldn't help myself and Googled the people you were talking about as I am interested in buying dog stuff...this is a site that features that Company... http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic...?f=6&t=4422 You are probably aware of this site though. I hope you will get your credit eventually.
  7. Yep Labsrule, it's not over until the fat lady sings
  8. Sheesh!...yours was the first topic I checked on Jamieson, still no fat little squirmy pups, bugger-it-all Pearl, get yer finger out (so to speak ) Good luck for tonight then...you have quite a following here!
  9. C'mon Pearl, we are all getting old here waiting for you
  10. I put carrot, sweet potato, apples (remove the pips) and all the other raw veges through the grater attachment on the Moulinex Masterchef (yep I know it sounds fancy but it cost $8 from the charity shop 6 years ago! ), I then put all the grated stuff back into the Mouli as the grated stuff is pretty dry and using the chopper attachment (I make up heaps so quite a few loads are needed) I chop it all up again and adding the following to make it pretty sloppy... Eggs (2) including shells, 1 whole sugarloaf cabbage, herbs, mustard, kelp powder, banana, sprouts that I have made a few days before, oranges...whatever you have really (not onion or avocado), I put in non pasteurised cider vinegar, flax seed oil & cold pressed extra virgin olive oil..Aldi have an Australian one..about $19 for 3L, and water so it will slop-up. I put the resulting slops into plastic dishes and it all freezes ok. You can but small plastic dishes at Crazy Clarks, they sell 4 (I think) of the in a white onion bag thingo...they are cheap and the lids are really good and don't fall off. I mix a big dollop in with their mince for thieir meals, they like it
  11. I was a cat person 'till I got a dog Verdant Amphibian, so don't worry about that comment, you could easily be a cat AND dog person, it's not hard! In regards to a greyhound or whippet...neighbours of mine adopted a rescue greyhound, he is the lovliest dog you could imagine, a real gentleman of dogs! Good luck for your next rescue, you WILL find your soul mate, you will know as soon as you see him or her.
  12. Just thought I'd post this as some of you may be interested...Deals Direct have Driza Bone Dog Coats for $24.95, I don't know if this is cheap or not, but if your dog is a Big Girls Blouse you may want to purchase one (Mac has one I bought with some other stuff off ebay and he likes it...he is a Big Girls Blouse though ) edited to correct the spelling mistake!
  13. Good on yer for getting one of each. My two are happy with sofa time but like their walks twice a day, mostly it's sniffin' time. I can't say what a pup would be like as I got both of mine when they were 8 and 7 years old, they were used as money-makers and bred and bred popping out pups before they were saved by MoriaT http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...t=0&start=0 ... Mac has had little socialisation and takes fright at flappy leads and rope and string, Penny had health problems (seems to be ok now)but is a tart as EVERYONE is her friend. They are stubborn and have poor recall when there are good scents about or if they don't really want to do your stuff, they like cuddles but in their own time, BUT they are funny and are good value. I go to the Westie Walkers http://www.westiewalkers.com/ 3 monthly walks and considering there is usually over 30 Westies there there is usually no scrapping. They are pretty laid back. They like finding RATS!!!
  14. When I got Penny and Mac they were 8 and 7 years old. I read up on stripping westies but ended up clipping them...Penny cried when I pulled 4 hairs out and Mac shrieked as though I was chopping him up! (he is a sook anyway, he will yelp or go huuuh huuuh when I wipe his eyes with a damp tissue if there is some dry bits there on dusty days), so ok, they win and so I clip them and they love the buzzy feel of the clippers. If you are stripping them best to start when they are pups.
  15. oops sorry about that Iggy Mum...I just had a quick look and thought I'd better post the link really quickly so as you wouldn't miss out on the bargain. It was a non-bargain it was! :D
  16. I saw this ad and it's in Victoria, it may be big enough http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Pets-Horses/...ue&AdOnTop=
  17. those pincers look mean, though I am sure that if they were removed (painlessly) they could be made into an attractive necklace, or dangley earrings.
  18. Yeah, and probably much more pleasant near his willie than vodka!
  19. I think the green ant is this one.... http://cms.jcu.edu.au/discovernature/misc/JCUPRD_025038 I always thought it bit but it appears to sting. Regarding the onion for sandfly/midges, we went camping at Poona (on the coast between Tin Can Bay and Maryborough) one time, and were nearly carried away with the midges, one of the other campers said that onion rubbed on the bites was good AND IT IS!!!! it takes away the itch nearly straight away. Edited to add... iggy mum...thanks for the link though it is to the really mean North Qld green ant, the one we have here in SE Qld is smaller and lives in the ground under bark (and garden mulch!) and nips out with it's mates when you least expect it and bites you on tender places
  20. You could try a piece of onion...cut it (the onion I mean ) and rub it onto the bite so the juice covers the bite. This remedy also works on bee and wasp stings as well as sandfly (midge) bites. I use it when the dogs (or us) get bitten by those mongrel green ants..they really hurt!
  21. Glad he got the bandage off Wire...I was going to suggest saturating the bandage with vodka (info from my book on household hints) but as it is near his willie perhaps it's not such a good idea...ouch
  22. Go the Sheep Dogs! :D http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/03...?section=justin
  23. Hello, I have posted question this in the Marketplace forum but no replies...hope it's OK to post this question here... I have placed a for sale ad in the For Sale section..Dog Runs,Crates, Trolleys (it is not up yet)...well, how do I put in a photo of the crates I have for sale? There doesen't appear to be an 'upload photo' section. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction...do I need to wait until it is approved before I can upload a photo? thank you
  24. Hahaha Tlc, that one looks like a little lion after being caught in a tornado!
