  1. C'mon Pearl, we are all getting old here waiting for you
  2. I put carrot, sweet potato, apples (remove the pips) and all the other raw veges through the grater attachment on the Moulinex Masterchef (yep I know it sounds fancy but it cost $8 from the charity shop 6 years ago! ), I then put all the grated stuff back into the Mouli as the grated stuff is pretty dry and using the chopper attachment (I make up heaps so quite a few loads are needed) I chop it all up again and adding the following to make it pretty sloppy... Eggs (2) including shells, 1 whole sugarloaf cabbage, herbs, mustard, kelp powder, banana, sprouts that I have made a few days before, oranges...whatever you have really (not onion or avocado), I put in non pasteurised cider vinegar, flax seed oil & cold pressed extra virgin olive oil..Aldi have an Australian one..about $19 for 3L, and water so it will slop-up. I put the resulting slops into plastic dishes and it all freezes ok. You can but small plastic dishes at Crazy Clarks, they sell 4 (I think) of the in a white onion bag thingo...they are cheap and the lids are really good and don't fall off. I mix a big dollop in with their mince for thieir meals, they like it
  3. I was a cat person 'till I got a dog Verdant Amphibian, so don't worry about that comment, you could easily be a cat AND dog person, it's not hard! In regards to a greyhound or whippet...neighbours of mine adopted a rescue greyhound, he is the lovliest dog you could imagine, a real gentleman of dogs! Good luck for your next rescue, you WILL find your soul mate, you will know as soon as you see him or her.
  4. Just thought I'd post this as some of you may be interested...Deals Direct have Driza Bone Dog Coats for $24.95, I don't know if this is cheap or not, but if your dog is a Big Girls Blouse you may want to purchase one (Mac has one I bought with some other stuff off ebay and he likes it...he is a Big Girls Blouse though ) edited to correct the spelling mistake!
  5. Good on yer for getting one of each. My two are happy with sofa time but like their walks twice a day, mostly it's sniffin' time. I can't say what a pup would be like as I got both of mine when they were 8 and 7 years old, they were used as money-makers and bred and bred popping out pups before they were saved by MoriaT http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...t=0&start=0 ... Mac has had little socialisation and takes fright at flappy leads and rope and string, Penny had health problems (seems to be ok now)but is a tart as EVERYONE is her friend. They are stubborn and have poor recall when there are good scents about or if they don't really want to do your stuff, they like cuddles but in their own time, BUT they are funny and are good value. I go to the Westie Walkers http://www.westiewalkers.com/ 3 monthly walks and considering there is usually over 30 Westies there there is usually no scrapping. They are pretty laid back. They like finding RATS!!!
  6. When I got Penny and Mac they were 8 and 7 years old. I read up on stripping westies but ended up clipping them...Penny cried when I pulled 4 hairs out and Mac shrieked as though I was chopping him up! (he is a sook anyway, he will yelp or go huuuh huuuh when I wipe his eyes with a damp tissue if there is some dry bits there on dusty days), so ok, they win and so I clip them and they love the buzzy feel of the clippers. If you are stripping them best to start when they are pups.
  7. oops sorry about that Iggy Mum...I just had a quick look and thought I'd better post the link really quickly so as you wouldn't miss out on the bargain. It was a non-bargain it was! :D
  8. I saw this ad and it's in Victoria, it may be big enough http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Pets-Horses/...ue&AdOnTop=
  9. those pincers look mean, though I am sure that if they were removed (painlessly) they could be made into an attractive necklace, or dangley earrings.
  10. Yeah, and probably much more pleasant near his willie than vodka!
  11. I think the green ant is this one.... http://cms.jcu.edu.au/discovernature/misc/JCUPRD_025038 I always thought it bit but it appears to sting. Regarding the onion for sandfly/midges, we went camping at Poona (on the coast between Tin Can Bay and Maryborough) one time, and were nearly carried away with the midges, one of the other campers said that onion rubbed on the bites was good AND IT IS!!!! it takes away the itch nearly straight away. Edited to add... iggy mum...thanks for the link though it is to the really mean North Qld green ant, the one we have here in SE Qld is smaller and lives in the ground under bark (and garden mulch!) and nips out with it's mates when you least expect it and bites you on tender places
  12. You could try a piece of onion...cut it (the onion I mean ) and rub it onto the bite so the juice covers the bite. This remedy also works on bee and wasp stings as well as sandfly (midge) bites. I use it when the dogs (or us) get bitten by those mongrel green ants..they really hurt!
  13. Glad he got the bandage off Wire...I was going to suggest saturating the bandage with vodka (info from my book on household hints) but as it is near his willie perhaps it's not such a good idea...ouch
  14. Go the Sheep Dogs! :D http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/03...?section=justin
  15. Hello, I have posted question this in the Marketplace forum but no replies...hope it's OK to post this question here... I have placed a for sale ad in the For Sale section..Dog Runs,Crates, Trolleys (it is not up yet)...well, how do I put in a photo of the crates I have for sale? There doesen't appear to be an 'upload photo' section. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction...do I need to wait until it is approved before I can upload a photo? thank you
  16. Hahaha Tlc, that one looks like a little lion after being caught in a tornado!
  17. O Nooooooo, designer/Xbred/oodle/doodle has hit the plush dog market!!! http://www.stuffedwithplushtoys.com/p/3366...toy---theo.html
  18. I am with Bow Wow Meow and have found them really good (sorry RottyLover01, I know now you have had dramas with them) ...Penny got a pig knuckle stuck in her oesophagus last year and according to the policy (I only have accident for Penny and Mac as they are over 8) they cover for that problem. I paid the vet and sent all the veterinary invoices to them along with their claim form and I had the money (less $100 no claim thingo) in my account within ten days. I had only been insured with them about six weeks so I was pretty impressed. No whinges from me as I was pretty happy that at least I could find an insurance company that would insure older dogs even though it is only for accidents. I also have RACQ (it is added on as an extra to the house and contents insurance) as a back-up for sickness though they only cover up to $450 but it is a help. I have an idea that NRMA may also cover pets for a similar coverage.
  19. loved the little black shade-out-thingo you have put in the photo to spare her blushes
  20. 21. I had been looking (drooling) at those collars Sue Brown except that buying 3 of them is equal to heaps of chicken wings and BARF do food...I also saw this one which is a bit cheaper...http://www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.php/products_id/1870. Thanks for the tip on the dog shop people/puppy/breeder-advertisers (they did look cheap didn't they!) I will contact Huga and see if she can help also I may go and re-check the link Tilly posted..they were pretty neat!
  22. perhaps they will think seriously about fencing their yard after this http://www.gympietimes.com.au/story/2010/0...psy-heads-home/
  23. Hello All, I want to buy some tartan dog collars for the little guys. I came across a site..'It's A dog Shop' they have some tartan collars but I also noticed they had a link "Like to buy a new Puppy...click here to check out our breeders section" Is this on-line store similar to the brick & mortar pet shops that sell puppies? (you know, the ones we don't support) Some advice would be helpful, thanks
  24. A good news story...pity the collar and tag she had on wasn't hers! http://www.gympietimes.com.au/story/2010/0...beats-the-odds/
