  1. Yes, that is VERY good news. Hope she recovers quickly and is soon back to her old-self
  2. O poop, there isn't a dancing day on Monday You can see Westies on just about any weekend at Durack when a champ show is on . Thanks MrsD, are Scottish Terriers on at the same day as Westies at Durack? and where would I find a Durack schedule, wouldn't mind seeing the Kelpies though, I used to breed them many years ago when we had the farm near Miva :D The kelpies are on Friday the 6th at the Ekka ;) . Durack shows are just one day, they have a half a dozen or more rings running all at once. They are on most weekends but not all, I just checked the June Dogworld & there is a show on Sunday the 1st August & one on Sunday the 15th August if that's any help. Maybe the 15th...can't go on the 1st...it's the Brisbane Westie Walkers walk in Newstead Park...can't miss that! ;)

  6. I saw the Russell Island Church Ladies on Saturday and they had some small pieces of remnants, so I forked out my $1.20 , cut them into 6 1/2" squares and posted them today...they are not very exciting but will do around the edges and between those beautiful hand embroidered and appliquéd squares.
  7. You could visit the Southern Bay Islands (Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra)...if you want to go over in your car there is a regular barge, or if you just leave your car at the ferry carpark you can go on the ferry (dogs need to be muzzled tho') Jan at the Russell Island Motor Inn is happy for you to bring your dog( they are not allowed to sleep on the beds though) She does have good rates if you stay for a few days. There is a lovely beach (Sandy Beach) and BBQ area at the bottom of Russell Island where the dogs can have a paddle, you can walk right around the bottom at low tide, there is a channel and then Stradbroke Island, so it is pretty. http://www.russellisland.com.au/images/russellislandmap.jpg here are some pictures http://www.russellisland.com.au/photoalbum.htm The Islands are really beautiful

  9. An update on that poor donkey...ABC News http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/07/23/2961829.htm Parasailing donkey unhurt after ordeal Updated 40 minutes ago Beachgoers got a shock when they saw a donkey soaring in blue skies over balmy beaches in Golubitskaya, Russia last week. (AFP/Taman News) Video: Parachuting donkey scares children (ABC News) Related Story: Parachuting donkey terrifies children The Russian donkey who shot to international fame after flying high above the sea in a parasailing stunt has been located and is physically unscathed after her trauma, police say. The donkey ended up in the skies above the Sea of Azov in the south of Russia as a result of an impromptu advertising campaign by several entrepreneurs to attract holidaymakers to their beach, according to police. A veterinarian examined the donkey and found the half-hour flight over heads of beachgoers last week did not inflict any physical damage, said regional spokesman Igor Zhelyabin. "The veterinarian has come to a conclusion that the animal is clinically healthy," he said. The donkey's mental state however remained unclear. Animal rights activists, who condemned the stunt as cruel, have said the animal must have been very distressed by the flight as well as a rough landing on the water. Pictures broadcast on state television showed the donkey taken high into the sky by the stunt, frantically swinging its legs in panic as the speedboat circled around the water. Mr Zhelyabin said a decision on whether to open a criminal animal cruelty case would be made on Friday. The owner of the donkey, who lives in the nearby town of Temryuk, however has told the authorities he does not see anything wrong in forcing his donkey to fly because the beachgoers "were having fun," Mr Zhelyabin said. Dina Goncharova, another local police spokeswoman, said police had confirmed that the donkey was a female. - AFP

  12. An update, but Number 8 still missing, perhaps there is still hope for the little tacker. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/07/16/2955156.htm Teens arrested over monkey theft Posted 7 hours 24 minutes ago Teenagers arrested: The pygmy marmosets after they were recovered by police (NSW Police) Map: Helensburgh 2508 Two teenagers have been arrested after eight monkeys were stolen from a park in Sydney's south in May. Four cotton top tamarins and four pygmy marmoset monkeys were taken from the Helensburgh Park. Two days later seven monkeys were discovered in suburban parklands and at a veterinary clinic at Auburn, but the fourth tamarin is still missing. 13. just making sure everyone knows what day it is, you thought that my writing Friday instead of Thursday was a mistake but it was really a test!
  14. A friend sent me this picture... thought I'd put it up for a Thursday afternoon smile Oh No, Not the Bath! edited as I didn't know what day it is!
  15. Thanks for that Ellz, I had asked our local hairdresser (yes, I know...should have asked the grooming people!) as I had called them combs when I asked her about the clippers not working very well, she said they were called blades (even tho' I DID say that they were plastic and were easy to change) My Whal is just a economy model ($61 Ebay), so I will just use the combs for the cutting length, clipping the little fellas is really to neaten them up from the 'scruffy' to the 'ok-that'll-do,-you-look-much-better-now. The woman I bought Daisy-the-Westie from used a 3f & 5f and her back was really nice (Daisy's back I mean ) Thank you for clearing up the combs/blades query My Wahl clippers have the 30-50-10 stamped on the blade
  16. HA! Mother Moocher....wouldn't ya like to know! (me too! )
  17. I have Whal clippers and it was suggested I use blade sizes 5f and 3f to clip the Westies. The Whal blades I have are No 3 (10mm), No 2, & No 1, as well as unknown brand blades..9 mm, ,7 mm 6 mm,3 mm What does the 'f' mean and are the numbers just the sizes (ie mm) I was told, but I had better ask someone to jog my memory.. is this what is called a blade?----> ..........................................................
  18. Hello Jed, lovely sunny morning this morning aye?. (had to put that bit of Aussie in ) How are your burns and graft-sites healing? give us an update on your health sometime. The Westies say Hoots mon to you.
  19. I know the feeling Westielover, I went to the Brisbane Westie Walkers a while back, there were over 30 Westies all gathered in a grassy area in the park and this guy who was riding his bike stopped and asked "how come they look all the same"
