Hey Guys! Great day had by all!! My girls were super tired last night. Hate to have to mention this, but since we weren't as organised yesterday in collecting the fees, we appeared to have missed a few doggies. We collected enough money for 21 dogs, but I worked out there were at least 28 dogs present, just not sure who forgot to pay, as we had no printed list this month to check off. I felt it was only fair to ask that the relevant owners bring some extra money next time to be put in the kitty for later use. So far I have 2 accounted for, but there were at least 5 more that we didn't pay for. Sorry to be a grumble bum, I do realise it's easy to forget, and I don't for a second think that anyone deliberately didn't pay. Feel free to PM me if you forgot to pay. Thanks guys! ;)

You got the date right...if you head to http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=98062 you will find the 2011 dates have been added, and all the rules, cost, etc. are listed. There are usually a couple of chairs hanging around, and some of us bring our own, but this is just for while we're in the runs. There are enough chairs and tables for everyone at lunchtime, on the covered verandah. Temperature wise, we leave it up to the individual, some of the doggies seem to cope fine in higher temperatures, and we always take turns to keep the drinking water full, plus there is the lagoon pool to cool them down too. The Kepala staff have erected extra shelter for us on really hot sunny days before too. Hope you can make it

Hi Guys, I just got back from holidays on Wednesday, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year celebrations! I'm really sorry about the mix-up with Kepala, I have no idea what went wrong. I spoke to someone at either the October or November meet, to confirm we wanted to continue our arrangement into the new year. As far as I can tell from CF's info, the bookings were in their diary for the rest of the year, but they missed January. I promise I didn't say anything about not wanting January, so it must have just been an administrative error. Turns out I wouldn't have been able to come anyway, I have a 2 y.o Birthday Party at 12.30pm, but gosh we'll all be keen by the time Feb rolls around. I hope it's not too hot for my fluffies. We're missing all of you!! Oh, CF, even though the Feb meet is likely to be bigger, maybe we could still skip the BBQ, and do 'bring a plate' like you suggested, just to mix it up a little? Sandwiches, quiches, dips, cheeses, cakes, etc? Who's keen? Carissa

Thanks tlc, I do too! Yours is gorgeous as usual!

Yay! It was another fantastic day at Kepala! Lots of fun had by all, including my 2, who are now resting. I'm so sorry about Tika's barking, I can't work it out For those that didn't hear today, the gift for Kepala of a calender and choccies went down well, they loved it! Hopefully some of you have some awesome piccies to post later on, you can do so here... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=211160 I didn't take any, my camera just doesn't do the doggies any justice! Merry Christmas Everyone!! See you next year!!

Can't wait to see your shots from today!

Thanks Evolving! We will miss you all! Have fun spreading the word about how cool Lappies are at the Big Day Out!

I'm so disorganised, I forgot to buy the stuff for the salad, so I'm afraid that'll make 2 meets in a row where I haven't brought salad! Sorry guys, the list still has 3 salads I think, so we should be right. I'm still bringing the chicken wings.... Yay, can't wait to see you all, the girls just had morning zoomie play together, and are resting already, but I'm sure they'll be pumped when I get the harnesses out!! Your cute LC, worrying about Charlotte being washed/groomed, wait 'til you see my ratty girls! Am hoping to book Tika in before Christmas, as I can't wash her myself. And we'll do Dakota ourselves before Christmas Day too. Oh, and don't worry about the present wrapping, I'm sure the receiving dog won't really mind...hehehe. Snout Girl- glad you can make it! Yay! Pug cuddles!
-
Pandii- Dusty is very very cute, I hope he got home safely yesterday! Rottisliebe- will be good to see you guys again if you can make it! RR-Melbourne- there's always next month! Our2Valls- will be great to see you and your little cuties back again! We've all missed them ;) Pointees- that infection sounds nasty lovey, hope you're feeling better soon... Well guys, we're nearly there again, I can't believe how fast these last few months have flown by!! Not complaining about Kepala seeming to come round quicker though, hehehehe. Can't wait to see you all there! Beware, my boofa Tiki possum, is blowing coat, so you may just leave with tufts of hair stuck all over you, or even coughing up a hairball...lol Weather for tomorrow so far... "Partly cloudy. Isolated showers. Winds west to northwesterly averaging 20 to 35 km/h tending west to southwesterly up to 30 km/h during the afternoon." Max 22c. Sounds similar to conditions last month, should be good! Oh, and don't forget your doggie KK presents if you want to take part, shopped for mine yesterday! ($10 per present per dog, no food treats, will be a lucky dip at lunch)

To those of you headed to the Dog's day out thingy, I hope you have lots of fun and we shall see you in the new year!!! Merry Christmas too!! RR-Melbourne- We love welcoming newbies to our meet! Looking forward to meeting you, your son and Rocky on Sunday! snout girl- we'd love to see you guys again, I want Bert cuddles! Pandii- You could speak to your vet/breeder and ask what they think about your pup coming along if you're unsure. I'm almost certain all the regular Kepala dogs are kept up to date with vaccs, if that helps, but of course you would never really know if the grounds at Kepala have come in contact with parvo. What breed is your puppy and what what's his name? LC- It might be a smaller group this month, but we'll still have a ball!!
-
I got my calender last week, it's great, can't wait to put it up next year!!! Also got the one for Kepala, will wrap it up and bring it next Sunday!

Hi Guys! The girls and I will probably still be away camping then, so we'll have to give it a miss. I hope you all have a great time though, sounds like fun!

Hi Guys! Just thought I had better get this thread up and running, as I know everyone's VERY busy in the lead-up to Christmas. I think we will go ahead as normal with a BBQ, but if people would like to bring Christmas type foods they are welcome to! I'll bring all the staples (cups, plates, cutlery, sauces, serviettes). Don't forget we are having a doggie Kris Kringle/Secret Santa like last year, so if you would like to participate, please bring a $10 gift on behalf of each dog you are bringing along, and your dog/s will get a gift in return. Last year we kept it to non-food items as some dogs have special food requirements. It works like a lucky dip, and we will have the dogs open them when we go to the BBQ area for lunch. Don't forget your cameras! Also, we will be presenting the Kepala staff with a thank-you gift of a Kepala calender and some choccies. Just a reminder of the basics from the pinned Kepala thread: "For anyone who does want to come along, there a few things to know: 1. We are going to have fun and let the dogs have fun (this is a big one!) 2. If your dog is not so good with others, it is ok because there are other runs you can use 3. We want ALL the dogs to have fun, so no humping, fighting etc allowed. And as above there are other runs we can use. 4. The more the merrier 5. Not restricted to DOL members 6. $15.00 PER dog (Sorry, but there is no discount for bringing multiple dogs/puppies, its $15 a dog/puppy. Has been this way since we started). 7. BYO drinks 8. We usually each bring something. 9. I am happy for those who do not bring food to pay $5.00 but i need to know how many are not bringing anything so I can make sure we have enough." Please, everyone try and keep an eye out for your own and each other's dogs, and speak up or take action if trouble's brewing Can't wait for another great event!!!

I apologise in advance if the following offends anyone, it is not intended that way... To groupfive and anyone who PMd her with a similar experience- If it hasn't already be done, I think it would be most beneficial to simply directly contact the owner involved and help them understand that their dog behaved inappropriately. It shouldn't be assumed that they are 'turning a blind eye', they may simply need educating, and the best people to do that, are those that experienced the behaviour personally.
-
groupfive- Just wanted to say I'm sorry you and Flash had a negative experience yesterday. I know none of the Kepala-ites would wish that upon you guys, by any of their dogs, including myself. This has actually brought me to realise that I've probably become a little complacent at Kepala, most likely due to the fact that we've never had any major dramas. However it is true that especially with an extra-large gathering, we need to be ever-vigilant, to be able to nip incidents in the bud before they develop into something mentionable.I do hope you won't let this unfortunate experience put you off coming back, and that you might be so kind as to give the owner and dogs in question a second chance. We would love to have you back with Flashy! For everyone- I was going to say, in future, if ever you're concerned about another dog's behaviour, and the owner is not watching or not responding, to call out, BUT, I can see how that is difficult when we aren't all familiar with each other's names, and the dog's names. Maybe it's a silly idea, but perhaps we need an emergency word we can use when we're concerned about a situation, maybe as simple as HELP. Also, people may also have differing ideas as to what is acceptable behaviour, and some may not be as aware of warning signs, dominant behaviour, etc. (myself included, definitely no expert), so even if the relevant owners are watching they may not realise their dog/dogs are doing anything potentially dangerous. So, as uncomfortable as it may be with strangers, if we're not happy with something, we need to speak up and make the other owner/s take action.

Fantastic pics everyone!!! Thank-you for all the lovely shots of my girls! I hope you don't mind that I've stolen them for my collection.....would anyone have any issues with me uploading them to my facebook (with credit to you of course)? The group shot turned out great! CF, I have no issues if the calender includes people too, looks like it would be hard work to edit the people out, and would look ugly if they were just chopped off, plus make for a funny shaped pic for a calender...

I remembered to put sunscreen on my face, after having been burned at the Sunbury show on a rainy day! Apply some Aloe Vera Gel if you have any..worked well for me.... I have started an empty photo thread guys.............. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=209291

Was another very successful day at Kepala! Feel free to show off your shots in here everyone!

We had a fantastic day, and we all managed to avoid any rain, although if Dexter liked you, you didn't avoid getting wet...LOL It was actually warmer than most of us expected, I wore a jumper, and brought a raincoat in case, but ended up in my t-shirt all day, was quite muggy. Glad it seemed everyone else had a good time, it was great to see most of the regulars and it was lovely to meet Linda, her OH, her sister and of course Arnie, Lola and Soko, what little cuties! My two are resting now. Tiki's a little sore and sooky, but has had some anti-inflammatories, so she should be sleeping peacefully soon, poor baby. Dakota seems to have recovered from her pig's ear choking incident, will just have to keep an eye out in case she can't digest the huge piece she swallowed, silly duffa! Thanks again misha&milo for helping me, oh, and for cooking lunch!!! A few of us made an executive decision today, to put all the kitty money we have raised throughout the year towards a Christmas/Thank-you gift for Kepala for all their hospitality. I believe LM suggested we purchase a Kepala Meet Calender for them, and we loved the idea! We have $40 to spend, so whatever money is left over will just go towards some choccies or something that the staff can share. I have also booked in the second Sunday of every month for our meets next year, and the staff member at the desk said if we need to change any bookings we can. So if anyone thinks of any major events that would mean only a very small group might attend, let me know, and we can take a poll. We will take a poll for Mother's Day in the lead up to May next year. One more thing- There will be details about a doggie Secret Santa/Kris Kringle in a December meet thread
