Your pup looks gorgeous...reminds me of my boy when I first got him. We live up in the heat although its not too hot now summers over. Gus copes quite well and his coat is very thick, he doesn't particularly like being brushed but I always try and get his thick undercoat out in the summer. They usually find a cool spot to sleep, tiles in the bathroom is his favourite spot in summer.

How Do You Leave Them Behind
ninahartland replied to Bullbreedlover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I saw that on the news tonight too.....devastating!!!!!!!!!! There's no way that anyone would make me go anywhere and leave the dogs behind..........no way in hell!!!!!! Does anyone know if any of the flood victims need any help with their pets till they get their homes back? Is it PACERS that help with this kind of thing? I could probably squeeze a couple in here if needed. -
Foster Carer In Southern Qld White Shepherd
ninahartland replied to Bilbo Baggins's topic in General Dog Discussion
You could try Akela*2007 for the Mal. She was very helpful with saving one from W Wyalong pound. She's in NSW but may know of rescue in Qld. -
Hugs to you Yaps I think the only thing that will heal your pain just a little is time. I lost a daughter to suicide 4 years ago and its definately true what they say about "time being the greatest healer". Whether its grief for another human or beloved pet...its still a grieving process you have to go through and only time will take that pain away little by little.

I have 4 large breed residents and usually another large breed foster or boarder (currently have sons rotti for a month or two ) Food isn't too bad, I get huge bags of biscuits and mix either chicken mince or frames with it. Also brisket bones....have a cheap butcher so buy in bulk. Vet bills...have been fortunate so far (touch wood ), but have insurance for my four so hopefully will be covered if I need it. I'm on acreage with 2 dams so plenty of exercise and swimming (for the two that like water), before I moved here I used to walk all four along the beach daily, two either side. Sleeping....they have single bed size mattresses on the floor, sometimes they'll share but quite often they prefer the wood or tiles as the weather's getting warmer. Two might hop on the bed but the others dont seem interested (which is good as there wouldn't be room for me,lol)

LOL, no Monah doesn't go in the rescue thread...she might with her eyes closed  You go tomorrow Deb and say your bit...this group sounds like their hearts in the right place but are they doing the right thing?? Most important is are they desexing before these dogs are available for adoption...no good saying but the adopters have said they will desex...people cant be trusted!!!!!!!and so the cycle continues with more unwanted dogs in pounds!!!!! But you know all this already...........good luck for tomorrow and keep me posted. Will get you in rescue thread yet,lol

Some Questions About Dog Ownership
ninahartland replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mine are all inside/outside, usually leave door open so they can come and go as they please. Door gets locked at night though, have to always step over sleeping bodies if I get up to the loo,lol Dont take them out walking, they gets lots of exercise and obedience training round propetry and swims in the dam. I dont see the point of having dogs if they're not allowed in. You're their pack leader and they want to be with you so why leave them outside away from you? (just dont get why some people do this ) -

A vet I went to when my gsd was 7 months old rung me while he was under anaesthetic having x rays, saying I should pts now because there's no way this dog will be able to walk past 12 months old! I sent xrays to a specialist in Sydney who said there was nothing wrong with his hips. He's now 4 and walks and runs just fine!! I feel bad for the poor unsuspecting owner who gets told these things and believes it just because its a vet....they should know ,right??

Absolutely gorgeous pics K9, every single one of them!! I do hope Jack wins...he certainly deserves to. Not sure how it all works, do we get to vote?

For Those That Have Used The Suprelorin Implant
ninahartland replied to OSoSwift's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
From memory was $156 including consultation for a Great Dane. A lot of the sniffing and licking is learned behaviour. That's a good price Sway...I paid $195 for the implant which I had to prepay before ordering (they dont get much call for it apparently )so with consult it cost $245 -
