  1. My Cav girl has Macrolone for allergies. I only give it to her when she is bad and she has a 5 mg tablet (she weighs about 6.5 kg) twice a day for 3 days, then once a day for 3 days and then on to every second day. I think the longest I have had to give it to her is for 10 days. However she doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as your boy WP.
  2. Unfortunately I think I can top this. We have a huge off lead area behind the cricket oval. You used to be able to drive in next to the oval and drive right around and come out the other side. I am walking my dogs down there and fortunately had them on lead when I hear a car engine so I stop to check it isn't heading towards us. I see a couple of dogs jump off the back as told by the driver and then it roars past me with 2 Bullmastiffs (one a lactating bitch) and a pup about 8-10 weeks running after it. The poor bitch was frantically trying to keep her eye on the ute and keep with her pup. I was so tempted to grab that pup and run.
  3. After I posted I had a look at a couple of other brands and it seems that some hold more of the gas in their reservoir. Does it take the same sized battery?
  4. I don't have a Barkmate one but the one I have has an on/off switch which is fantastic. No more taking the battery out to stop it from accidentally going off and squirting spray over everything in the cupboard! I can check the brand if you are interested.
  5. I don't know if this will help or not but I had great success with a cat that was always car sick and we had long drives to shows! As a last resort I put the crate down in the footwell and covered it over with just a tiny peep hole so she could see me. Worked for her!
  6. I went to the 7PM Project website and it appears that the links for the videos of tonight's show don't go up until later. However I did find this website where the RSPCA are asking for support to close puppy farms. I am looking through it now and thought others might like to as well: http://www.closepuppyfactories.org/
  7. Sorry I have no advice but just wanted to say that your puppy is gorgeous! And I love his name.
  8. OMG, that Teacup Alaskan Malamute is so gorgeous. I just have to have one. Please put me down for one that doesn't bark and I can't wait until Christmas so I will pick him up on Sunday. Of course, I don't have any money so am wondering what payment plans you have?
  9. I have a registered ACD that is tall and lean and usually weighs 21-22 kg. His parents were big dogs - he got their size but not their stockiness. Mine is my first male dog and I have to say that I am now sold on the boys. He is such a sook, is everyone's friend, gets on well with the small dogs and is very tolerant of them jumping up and licking him all the time. After reading this thread I think that mine is broken. As a pup he was a bit of a handful but with consistent training and leadership (NILIF) he has turned out to be a lovely dog.
  10. Exactly what I was thinking! What are you like with cats Elna?
  11. I was at the vet recently with my ACD and an older man put two baby guinea pigs on the floor. I quickly advised him that it wasn't a good idea but he just left them there. Fortunately he was called in for a consult within minutes and the piggies stayed put! I have also seen a couple with a cockatiel sitting on their shoulder waiting for their consult on the oustide seats. They were given a cage by the vet nurse but declined to use it as the bird had never been confined before. I guess that fact is more important than it might get a fright and fly off.
  12. With a lot of work MM you may be able to get Myrtie to behave herself around the cat, however, from my experience, the cat will never be comfortable around the dog. When I was rescuing I had a lot of fosters here and one of my cats sorted them out pretty quickly. However there is one cat that is a little more wary of strange dogs, the dogs sensed this and that is the cat they chose to terrorise if they were so inclined. I was lucky in that I had a very secure cat set up so the cats were always safe but I remember one dog in particular that would sit outside the cat area and eyeball this one cat in particular. The dog was kept separate as much as possible, however, I couldn't lock him inside all day when I was at work. After a couple of days the cat went off his food and luckily I was able to find alternate carer for the dog very quickly.
  13. There is www.cat-world.com.au and Dogzonline also have a Cat Chat section in Off Topics. You need 150 posts to access that area so get posting and join us over there.
  14. I'm so sorry for your loss. Such a tragic accident.
  15. All you need to do is take the little rubber thing out of the opening of the shower head and it will work fine. The little rubber fitting is the thingo that makes the water head useless!
  16. I am trying to think of something else that is tough and cheap. What about using the Bunnings compost bin panels to fence off most of the area? I use cable ties to connect mine and then cable tie them to the nearest upright.
  17. I wonder if something like bubble wrap would work for a dog? Just leave an access path to the beds.
  18. Oh lucky you having one that tall! The tables they sell now only go to 850 mm
  19. My heart dog is waiting for me at the Bridge. I love all my dogs I have now, one a bit more than the others, but my special girl was perfect in every way and I think about her every day. A little piece of me left with her when she died.
  20. Have you tried to log on to the registry site where you enter the details? My password always expires as I don't chip very often any more but I can still get on to the site when I change my password, as prompted. Here are the contact details from www.petregistry.nsw.gov.au Division of Local Government Department of Premier and Cabinet Locked Bag 3015 NOWRA NSW 2541 Ph: 02 4428-4100 Fax: 02 4428-4199 E-mail: [email protected]
  21. Interesting! I emailed Liberty last week and didn't get a reply so tried to ring them yesterday. I couldn't get the 1800 number to connect and the landline number was constantly engaged. I hope they are contactable again soon.
  22. I had thought about a shelf SBT but it would be in the way but with those hinges it's a great idea - thanks
  23. I have emailed Liberty and Wooferware to see if they can help - thanks everyone
