  1. It's just appeared on my Facebook newsfeed and Steve Austin has replied as to the circumstances of the photo. If you want to see what he wrote it is on the Petshaven wall here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pets-Haven-Animal-Shelter/93027212747?sk=wall It was posted about an hour ago so towards the end of the comments.
  2. Everything crossed it is her and she is safe and well!
  3. I have a Cav called Grace and she is a bit, ummmmm, speshal. ETA: Please tell me about the kryptonite collar - mine might have to wear it full time!
  4. Having had a few cats and a dog with a corneal ulcer I am very interested in hearing if anyone has had any experience with this product as well. I Googled it and found this website http://www.virbacvet.com/products/dermatology/WoundCare/REMENDCornealRepairDrops.aspx which gives a bit of information. The video makes it sound like it can be used for all wounds.
  5. The best way to apply it is by putting it on a small piece of wet kitchen sponge - it foams up really well and you only need to use the minimal amount so is less drying for the coat.
  6. Stayz says it has some availability, so hopefully it's not lying! I called but got voicemail. Now I wait... impatiently! That's a lovely spot but remember it is tick season so take precautions.
  7. I did this once when I was breeding cats, after a few months I did a little tally and then decided I didn't need to know any more. All hobbies cost money.
  8. Could you test her properly? I've taken in heaps of dogs that quickly come around with my 3 cats provided they get to sus the cats out properly. More often that not it's just being able to get to the cat to see what they are. A cat with big balls is best. Out of all my rescues I've only had about 3 that I could not ever trust. She sounds like the most divine dog and even I am sorely tempted but I'm afraid temp testing with chickens isn't proving as easy to overcome as cats. I agree with Clyde. All of my dogs are used to my (multiple) cats, however, when one of the cats run the dogs will chase it and join in the fun.
  9. I use Zero and keep the pets off it until it is dry. I have been using it for nearly 20 years without any problems.
  10. That is a lovely tribute to your much loved Gillie. I am so sorry for your loss.
  11. I moved last year and like you I had a transition period. Each time I brought the dogs up they were stressed and anxious if they couldn't see me. However when I brought them up after the move they were fine. I think they became relaxed when all the familiar things were here.
  12. NILIF is great! You need to re-think everything you do with the dog to make sure they earn the attention. Eg, my dogs used to come over and push at my hand for a pat so I would turn away and ignore them. After they wandered off I would call them back, tell them to sit and then make a big fuss of them. Now they come over and sit and if I ignore them because I am busy or eating they walk away. However if it suits me I pat them. With jumping up, you turn around and lift your hands up. Eventually they either wander off or sit. If they sit I whip around and make a big fuss. I have found that with the smart dogs they get this after 3-4 "goes". StaffyLuv you need to start off strong with everything and be consistent!
  13. I am so sorry StaffyLuv. He fought a great battle. RIP Ollie.
  14. I just bought one of these for my Pekin chickens as they won't be able to get in it and kick the food out or tip it out. I will post how it goes.
  15. My Cav girl was sunning herself on an outside chair here the other day. I'd noticed her there and a little while later heard her making some funny noises so went to investigate. Her very thick and embossed ID tag had slipped between the slats on the seat and she couldn't move! Now all the dogs are wearing embroidered collars as I have had a few escapes over the years.
  16. I had a foster get shaving rash on her tummy and the vet prescribed Neocort ointment. The description is here and you may be able to get something similar from the chemist if you feel it will help: http://troylab.com.au/products.php?tid=1&iid=26&pid=139
  17. My suggestion is the same as Kirty's - a bone, or some training with yummy/smelly treats or a leisurely walk down the street and back might distract him enough to forget about it.
  18. That's exactly what I was going to say! For anyone else that is interested, the gaps under the gates are not small dog friendly.
  19. My Cav had this earlier this year - the ulcer was huge and her eye very swollen. The drops settled hers in a couple of days. As Persephone said, if you can keep her out of bright sunlight (dark rooms are good) and get her to keep her eye closed as much as possible it will help. I would suggest crating her and covering the crate. Good luck with it.
  20. What RSG said. I had the same thing happen to a dog a rescued from a local pound. He went to a new carer who showed his photos at work and one of the colleagues said, that's my mates dog! Poor carer was in a flap so I told her to get the "owner" to ring me. He was very upset at the loss of his dog and didn't know that pounds existed. We had the dog desexed and microchipped and then returned to him, he paid for this and they dog was very happy to see him.
