  1. I used to breed Persians and never had any problems with smell. Feed a good quality food and change the litter regularly and clean the tray in hot water and bleach. Kittens are naturally clean and will start to use the litter tray from 3-4 weeks old and up until then their mother will keep them spotless. If mum is a little slow in getting the knack of cleaning her kittens then spread a little bit of butter or margarine at the base of the kittens' tails and she will be on to it in no time. :)
  2. Have you got any more info on this Powerlegs? Eg, would it be for newly registered pets or including existing registered pets?
  3. I'm using Scalibor now and am wondering how many ticks were you seeing before and what product were you using?
  4. I came across this paper on paralysis ticks by the vet Mike Cannon, and found it really informative. It might answer some questions. Envenomation_Tick Paralysis_MCannon.pdf
  5. Not the same one then. My experience was with a vet towards Huskisson.
  6. I'm pretty sure I live near you KC and am wondering if this is the vet that tried to upsell to me (I hate upselling!). I'm now going to the South Nowra clinic and am very happy with their service.
  7. He is gorgeous! Have you checked the bottom of his pads to see if they need trimming? Less hair will enable him to grip the floor boards better.
  8. Site and links work fine for me, using firefox as a browser. I'm also using Firefox but I think AVG has blocked the "suspicious" content?
  9. I went to have a look at this site and got a virus warning !! emgem, perhaps you need to contact your cousins to tell them their site has been compromised. Just an FYI, the site hasn't been compromised it's a line of raw code no enclosed in a tag triggering a false positive. I can see the raw code but can't move past the first page - there don't seem to be any links.
  10. Yes! Mistakes happen, it's part of life. I can't remember how many times I've heard of a dog being listed on a pound's website as one sex and when rescue have picked it up it's the other!
  11. I'm so sorry to hear this and I wish Cid all the best in a full recovery.
  12. Hello Angie! :) In that first shot she looks very comfy NOT!
  13. I had this happen with a cat once and I laid over her and held her down gently with my body while I put the kittens on to suckle. In the end it was their crying that triggered whatever was needed!
  14. They look good. A polar fleece blanky would even make it more snuggly! My dogs must be broken as the 3 of them all squish into the large size kidney shaped bed, even though they all have one each.
  15. Yes both parties get charged a dishonour fee and it sucks! $10 is very reasonable as last time someone wrote me a rubber cheque I was charged $35!
  16. The new cat will need her own space. Introducing cats needs to be taken very very slowly with the new cat being set up in her own room at first. Not following careful and slow, slow, slow introductions can result in inappropriate piddling and spraying. Cats are very territorial, especially females, in my experience. Some good tips here: http://www.aspca.org/Pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/cat-articles/introducing-your-cat-to-a-new-cat
  17. I'm using my Bunnings panels as an extension to my chicken coop at the moment. I've also used them for kitten pens, dog pens, garden fences, and room dividers. I think they are awesome!
  18. Have you got a link to these? I have some of those kidney shaped beds and was thinking of making some washable, snuggly inserts for them but for $8 I think I'll buy them!
  19. While I agree that a medium sized dog is a more realistic size for an older person they are much harder to walk because they are much stronger. On a few occasions, while out walking, we have had a loose dog run up to us and my cattle dog has nearly pulled my shoulder out in his excitement to greet the other dog.
  20. Love the cardboard box idea! I use them for the cats in winter but hadn't thought about them for the dogs but now they are older I will give them a go. I remember my old cattle dog squishing into a box I had left outside ready to put into the recycling - they can get into small areas! It would also contain the dog hair!
  21. I had super fleas when I first moved here! I use the Kiltix tick and flea collars (recommended by my vet) and have had no ticks or fleas on the dogs since I started. Have you tried Advocate for the cat?
  22. There is South Coast Animal Rescue based at Tomerong: https://www.facebook.com/pages/South-Coast-Animal-Rescue-Inc/234670036567123?fref=ts
  23. When I fostered I often took the working breeds. Yes they took longer to rehome but only a few weeks more. I only ever took dogs under 12 months though as I felt that age fitted better with my pack. Here's a gorgeous kelpie girl I wish I'd kept (and so did my cattle dog I think)!
