  1. My cocker is what we call the "happy idiot". She just has no idea how to be angry or nasty. She constantly wags her tail and loves all creatures big and small. I have found that she attracts all dogs to her. Whenever we go to a leash free park nearly every dog there will come up to say hello to her. Fine by me and by my dog. However after saying hello some will often start being bossy with her and very occassionally aggresive. I love that my cocker is just so happy and I never want that to change. Because of that I have stopped taking her to alot of leash free area's. We go to dog club when its not on as this is leash free and 99% of the time is empty. The only time my cocker socialises with other dogs now is if we have met the other dog on lead and both humans have agreed that its ok for our dogs to play together. Its a sad situation but I would rather keep my happy girl than have her turn into something different.
  2. I'm a sufferer aswell. I would dearly love to add a another beagle to my furry family but OH has put his foot down! If I want kids then no more dogs until the kids are at least 2 years old!
  3. My beagle can open the pantry, remove a can of dog food (emergency supplies), open the can and devour the entire can without making a sound. The only noise you'll hear is her bottom letting me know what she has been up too. Bugger does it smell!!!!
  4. My cocker HATES being groomed. She gets done every second day and when I'm finished she ignores me for the remainder of the night. Will only have cuddles and pats from OH. The look on her face is priceless. I'm sure its says "Umm, you think I'm still going to be nice to you after you brushed me? Yeah right lady, in your dreams!!"
  5. OH and I are getting married next year and will be going on a honeymoon! We plan to go away for 6 days and we both feel uncomfortable leaving the dogs at kennels. I would prefer for someone to stay with them at their own home where they are inside as this is what they are used too. Failing that i would like them to stay at someone else's home, inside. I found this website and I am wondering if anyone has used them or heard about them? i'm looking for any opinions you may have please. Thanks http://www.melbourne-petminders.com.au/index.html
  6. We added our second addition to our furry family when my lovely Jesie was just 9 months old. Jesie is very much a people person. Just loves to be around everyone. Leaving her all day to go to work was terrible. Getting Jodie was the best thing we ever did for her. Jesie and Jodie just adore each other. They play, eat and sleep together. If one needs the vet the other likes to tag along. At first though I thought I would pull my hair out. Two puppies at the same time, OH MY GOD! Jesie is super active and is always on the go, Jodie was the naughtiest puppy in the entire world! Between them they did my head in. However they have grown up now. Jesie is nearly three and Jodie has just turned 2. They have both settled down (well Jodie has!) and I still maintain it was the best thing I could ever have done for my dogs. I will never have just one dog again while working full time. I will always have two now.
  7. No one around my area uses a lead at all!!! We have a dog park (oval) just down the road and pretty much everyone but me walks their dog down there without a lead. There are heaps of hoons around my area aswell. Idiots!!!
  8. If I howl then so so the dogs, maybe try that
  9. We're moving to Pakenham in a couple of month's. Me and the dogs are moving into the fiance's brand new house! I have a really good vet right now but I live in Frankston. I'd like to find a vet closer to my new home in Pakenham. Anyone got any recomendation's? Looking for a vet that's not excessively pricey (doesn't need to be super cheap either) and who is willing to take the time with each of their clients. One of my dogs needs to get to know a person well before she will let them near her. The other dog is happy for everyone to pay her attention!!
  10. Two pictures of my cocker spaniel, Jesie. She'd been at the beach and really didn;t want a bath so she though she'd do zoomies instead so I couldnt catch her!!

  12. You should hear my two when they play! Sounds like there are a pack of hugely vicious dogs in the hosue going hell for leather! In reality its my cocker and beagle playing like idiots and doing zoomies. My cocker has no idea how to be nasty but when her and her sister start playing every night at 7:30pm all hell breaks loose!!!
  13. I ended up on crutches last year after my beagle got me!! Bloody dog was chasing the cat and I went over!! I was on crutches for 3 weeks, got off them just in time to go to QLD for a week's holiday. I cant tell you the amount of times my beagle has jumped onto my lap and slammed my tongue between my teeth!! Last time she did it I was left with teeth impressions in the side of my tongue!! :p
  14. Whether I'm gone 5 seconds or 10 hours my two go MENTAL!!!! They get really really over excited. I usually ignore them until they came down. But same reaction every time
  15. Some beautiful stories here. It had been 3 years since we'd lost our family dog. I was living with my boyfriend and had been thinking about getting a puppy for a long time. He'd kept saying no so one day I came home with a brochure for a $70,000 4WD. He changed his mind and said I could have a puppy. I found a breeder in Geelong and we went to visit. He had two little girls left, one was a pudgy little thing and the other was a skiiny little brat who kept tugging at her sister's ears and wouldn't settle. The breeder said she never settled, was always on the go and causing caos. My boyfriend said "Umpgh she sounds like you!" Both the puppies were let out of their little puppy pen and the naughty one came bounding over to my feet. I knelt down and she jumped up at my hands so I picked her up for a cuddle. She snuggled into my neck and I was gone! She is my heart dog. She knows every one of my moods as I do her's. She follows me everywhere and if I'm about to come down with tonsilitis (sp) she will sniff at my throat and neck. She is a pure joy to be around. Always happy, bouncy and full of life. Her tail never stops wagging and I'm sure one day she will take off like a helicopter!! Her name is Jesie but she gets called Scruffy or Bongo and I tell her every day that she is the most beautiful cocker in the world. Mind you I think she already knows that. Jodie was suppose to be a new water and food bowl for Jesie!!! I sent OH to the pet store to get new bowls and some toys. He rang me and said they had some beagle X cocker puppies and he thought it would be a good idea to get Jesie a playmate as she was left alone all day while we were at work. At this stage Jesie was only 9 months old and the thought of another puppy while exciting also seemed like alot of hard work! I said we'd think about. Two hours later he came home with a beagle X puppy. Jodie jumped out of OH's arms and started playing with Jesie who was sooooo excited. Little thing got tired very quickly though and came over to me for a snuggle. I was in love with my new water bowl! I adore both of my girls and I love them both the same but for totally different reasons. Jesie is highly strung, mental, always on the go and just sooo happy. Jodie is sweet, affectionate and a real softie.
  16. Cosmolo, do you do one on one? Jodie wouldn't be any good in a group situation
  17. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a dog behavourist in the Frankston area, but I'm willing to travel aswell. I need some help with my Beagle X. She is showing alot of jealousy towards myself and my other dog. Its something I'd like to nip in the bud sooner rather than later. if you can recommend anyone that would be fantastic.
  18. I asked Frankston council about a year ago what i needed to do if we wanted a third dog. They told me the same thing. Once I have the dog I need to apply for a permit and I need all my surrounding neighbours to sign the form and give their details so that the council could contact them. I said to the women at the council what happens if the permit is not approved? She told me I would have to get rid of one of the dogs. It is a totally stupid way to do things. As someone else said though I doubt they will bother with getting permit, especially if the other two dogs aren't registered.
  19. Me - Production Manager, lot's of chocolate!!! Jesie, cocker spaniel - Princess of the world!! She believes that everyone was put on this earth to love and adore her. JoJo, beagle - rubbish consumption. She's not a dog, she's a goat!
  20. Hi Guys, We're going on our first family holiday Monday week. Me, Him and the two dogs. We're driving from Frankston to Lorne and I'm wondering if any of you know of some good spots to stop along the way? Something with a bit of grass for the doggies to go toilet and run around. We've done this trip a couple of times but never taken the dog's away with us before so have never paid attention to good places to stop and have a break! Any help would be brilliant!!
  21. My cocker spaniel is the same. It poured down this weekend and on both Sunday morning and Monday morning we woke to a pee on the carpet. She didn;t want to go out in the wet for a piddle. What I dont get is she adores the rain and water. Cant get her out of it. She just wont pee in it!!
