A Challenge For Neuter Lovers
Bisart Dobes replied to Bilbo Baggins's topic in General Dog Discussion
We had a great day - our Grp Judge was lovely and enjoyed the dogs - he gave the NIG Class members ALL a good look as we went around the ring and gave the same amount of time to looking at each exhibit again - in short he 'judged' the class, I really enjoyed it and so did my girl. It was only when it came to the NIS class that I felt there was no patience or tolerance from alot of the people in the club. As for being "treated like poor cousins . . . maybe that is to be expected initially in this pure breed world" - all the neuters are pure bred dogs. From there I can only speak of my own girl - she is one of the most highly titled Dobermanns in Australia (2 others being her progeny), she has 12 titles including her NDCA Register Of Merit and a DUAL CH Title, she is a multi Specialty, Best In Group & ALL Breeds Class In Show Winner - she has had two litters - the first with 3 Champions, 2 Dual Champions and 2 Register Of Merits (& another not shown who has produced 2 Champions and 1 Register of Merit from 1 litter) - the second with 3 dogs pointed to title so far - she is most certainly not a poor cousin. She is 9 1/2 almost 10 years old and she loves to come out on occasion to be shown - loves it ! And with most clubs not running open shows or sweepstakes for veterans the chance to show her doesn't come around often. I appreciate the clubs who run these classes and they will normally get my other entries of 3 to 5 other dogs - so I appreciate some courtesy shown to my dog who is a history writer in our breed and she hasn't finished yet with her progeny achieving more and more. -
Can you PM me which club (or put it on here if you like) - I am happy to sponsor NIS Sash (Open) (incase they offer both N Classes).

Congratulations again guys :).

A Challenge For Neuter Lovers

OK - don't want to be a thorn in your project but the Neuter entries for Grp 6 at Warragul were Akita 1 Dobe 2 Rotty 2 & there was one other but can't remember the breed sorry. So 6 Neuter entries for Grp 6. 6 x $11.00 = $66.00 for Neuter entries - the sash is a normal sash but its been a while since I ordered them for a club so not sure on costs now - lets say around $5.00 - that still leaves $61.00 for the clubs costs. I entered another 3 dogs at that show also and left Noorat to go to Warragul for the neuter class. Other exh in grp 6 had 3 / 3 and 4 entries above their neuters and they entered there because of the class being offered. So in total that is 17 entries they got because of the neuter class - an additional 200 + with catalogues plus food etc purchased and this was Grp 6 only. Sorry, but I don't think that we should have to donate to have the clubs run the class - they just need to realise that they are getting extra entries because they offer the class. I am going to send in notes to clubs offering shows that I bypass for the neuter class and telling them of the entries they are not getting and why. Having said that - I am happy to donate the occasional NIG / NIS Sash but don't think that it should be something clubs require. Also, if Noorat shows are held on those grounds next year they won't be getting any of my entries, not after having my girl end up with a sprung toe on Sat PM while in the ring due to the awful surface. I cannot justify a dog out of the ring for the next 6 weeks, physio bills and vet bills to rehab her and lets not even go there when it comes to my knee, ankle, back etc and I know I am not the only one. -
Today at Warragul Show after waiting for well over two hours for the Neuter In Show Class the club decided to say that they weren't running the In Show Class !!!!!! In the end and after about a 10 minute 'conversation' between the officials the class was run and won. But they didn't have a sash for the winner and it was as if they couldn't give a - - - - ! Now, no fuss to me but after my girl Rhemy winning NBOB and NBIG I assume that the NIS class would be run - who wouldn't - and the VCA rules are that once you have won anything in group you have to stay or you lose your points. And then I got treated like dirt when I went into collect my challenge certificates because it was so late. All I said was that the class had just finished and as my dog won in group you wouldn't have given it to me anyway - only to be told we don't do in group or in show cards! All I have to say is that if the clubs are not interested DON'T offer the class, you got my other entries because you offered the neuter class - don't abuse it.

Shows Giving Sole Rights To Vendors - Why?
Bisart Dobes replied to teddywaddy's topic in General Dog Discussion
If its the vendor I think it is their prices are alot higher than they should be and I won't support them. I will wait for Monday at Warragul and go see John :). -

I love the Naracoorte shows, they have such a lovely feel to them. I am looking forward to this year! A bunch of us are camping. I do too - went for the first time last year and camped - had a great time, nice relaxed and enjoyable & I get to take my beautiful old girl out for a whirl. She gets so excited when she is bathed, groomed up etc etc - she gets to feel extra special again. Looking forward to it :). Naracoorte Cancelled under heat policy . Sunday may go ahead but not worth going for one show.

Good lord you scared me - thought I'd missed the entries !!! Doing them now :). I have all our entries on the computer - the only handwriting is my signature, so easy. When we first got her, I nearly entered our Brittany baby as a Dobermann for her first show as I have my template set up for dobes - lucky I noticed before I sent it . -
:D Yah, congrats guys - now thats team work :).

FANTASTIC WEEKEND :) - WELL DONE GIRLS. When is your next show ?? Soooooooooooo Close :)
-
Yah - excitment :).

Well done :). BUT thats not a brag !!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on, give us his full name with titles and what he's achieved along the way - he deserves it :D . Awww thanks Kirk is now Neuter Champion Caslero The New Black ET WAC He earned his Endurance Title at 2yrs of age and his Working Aptitude Certificate (WAC) on his first attempt at the 13th Australian Dobermann Nationals in 2010. To pass the WAC a Dobermann must "demonstrate the characteristics required of a dog to be a stable companion and resolute protector." I believe Kirk is the first Dobermann to achieve the Neuter Champion title - hopefully Bisart's girl will be the next one :D :D Now thats better - seriously hope he had a great time along to journey. And we didn't meet up anywhere for competiton did we !!! And yes Rhemy, being over half way should be next - not sure who else is out there though :). Hey - both brown kids too :) - Rem has been out of the ring due to her leg operation - fractured a small piece off her ankle bone when going a million miles an hour and went A over T (typical Rem) - as it was floating and causing irritation it had to be removed and she's been recovering and healing and has missed the last 4 on offer - but she is having a ball coming out and it makes her feel xtra special again to be included. Think she will have a forever little scar on her leg too .

Yes, Naracoorte gets my Neuter entry along with 5 other dogs for 3 shows :) - they win over the shows here because of the Neuter class.
-
You could see that was coming from the start - dog was stressed. What an idiot - who gets into the face of a dog they dont know or trys to kiss it ?? I hope public pressure saves the dog.
-
I don't put these in front of dogs names but don't feel its my place to tell others they can't / shouldn't. However, I do have WAC ROM after the dogs names who have achieved them - Working Aptitude Certification and Register Of Merit - both titles awarded through the NDCA and the ROM is the highest recognition awarded to a Dobermann under the National Dobermann Council of Australia. These titles are not recongised by the ANKC but they test / prove correct Dobermann Temperament aand along with our Breed Survey should be accepted and recognised by the ANKC. I will continue to have these titles after my dogs names and I will continue to use them in any advertising I do as they mean alot to our breed. Hopefully one day the ANKC will recognise them (how is this achieved ? - does anyone know) - it would be nice to have these dogs acknowledged in an all breeds catalogue for their achievements.

Cardio Myopathy In Our Dobe Boy
Bisart Dobes replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sorry to read about your boy Unfortunately it is one of the diseases our breed is affected with - there are some lines that are quite badly affected with Cardio & it is well known too, I don't know why people continue to breed to them - it is so unfair to the owners of the dogs. On the plus side there are alot of lines here that are testing clear or negative for the gene - the test is only done in the US at the moment and I assume it will be years for the patent to be available here BUT to test in the US isn't expensive and alot of breeders here are taking full advantage of it and testing their dogs - whether they remove affected or positive dogs from their breeding program is entirely up to them though. If you take the step to get another dobe you need to engage in a discussion with the breeders you are interested in getting a dog from about the health testing they do and the results of the dogs they are breeding. While there can never be a guarentee that nothing will go wrong breeders (and not just of dobes - all dogs) should be testing for everything they can and using clear stock and working towards healthy long lived and great temperamented dogs. A future litter for us we have bitch here (clear) and the dog I am using has tested clear also - they may not be the perfect match phenotipically and there is another dog who is physically exactly what she needs but he is not clear - but I am happy to make a slower journey to where I want to be with great health results in tow. One great thing is that this new test gives us the opportunity to make that choice with more of the cards on the table. It doesn't help you with your beautiful boy but perhaps it will in the future if you decide you want another dobie.
