So sorry for your loss. Patience and a set routine for her will help, she will get there. We recently lost 2 of our dogs - one tragically and one old so we knew the time was coming - they went two weeks apart - big sigh. But our dogs have all reacted differently to this, one - Bella is quite stressed - almost frantic at times but she is a very perceptive dog as well, I am giving her Bush Flower Drops - "Transition Essence" - it is made for those going through a transition and I use it on our older dogs when they are getting close to their time - I find it works for those left behind as well and "Emergency Essence" for acute stress, its been only a week since the second one left us and its starting to calm her somewhat. She has other dogs around, can't imagine how hard it is for a dog to lose the one thats been there all her life - thats pretty huge .

Before: Newspaper & drybed During: Newspaper, Drybed & white towels (white towels I have 10 the size of the whelping box, about 8 normal size and 12 baby towels I use for each puppy & I use white so that I can see clearly the colour of the placenta / discharge etc - colour is noted on the whelping sheet for each puppy). Heated whelping box so that is turned on when they are nesting (low). I also have a hotbox set up for puppies incase there is an emergeny - heat pad on bottom, paper and drybed. Wet wipes Wet wipes Wet wipes :) - best thing to toilet puppies if mum is slow or occupied with next puppy coming, best thing to clean blood off drybed (our girls are so fussy about clean beds and hate it when they drip blood in their puppies vacinity lol). After: Newspaper & drybed - normally two layers of drybed as I find our girls are up on their elbows alot to let puppies feed and two layers prevents worn elbows - so its paper in the centre of the box, rubberback drybed underneath to hold and greenback drybed on top.

Oh so happy to read this :) - have been thinking about your post and hoping everything went well & I know I don't know you but its just great to see a happy ending. Good luck - hope they are all strong survivors.

You need to contact your canine control and find out exactly what paperwork you need to re-register a docked dog in Tas. I have just done a litter in NZ & we needed specific paperwork for each puppy. The banding MUST be done by an accredited bander listed with the NZKC.

Sorry Sway . Dr Carmelo Battaglia & team conducted a bloat survey last year / concluding this year which involved 2551 dogs. Really interesting findings but I cannot post it here - it is via password only - I have asked for permission to post it publically - will see how we go. It has always been thought that Dobes were highly affected by bloat - this survey showed that 4% of dobes may be affected, suprisingly low. Perhaps it is breeding away from the problem, management, diet etc etc that is bettering our breeds chance at avoiding it.

Doesn't have to be in excel - I just have ours set up in a word document and a different section for different titles. All CH points are tallied as soon as I get home from shows and the certificates stored in their own folders which stack neatly into shelving with dogs names on the binder & front. I also list all results on our website update spreadsheet but don't list points accrued on there. I couldn't keep track if I didn't keep it organised !!!

It had to be AFTER the first. which is a bit silly Well apparently that wasn't the case in Qld - The rule states 'from' and they accepted the title app. Personally I don't care at all and am sick of all the fuss about it. If you want this title on your dog and your dog qualify's congrats but . -

There was one in Qld last weekend on the 1st that was apparently accepted by the Qld CC. So I guess for what its worth that would have been the 1st one. -
many breeds have "lists" on Yahoo and members post results regularly .... in my breed results are posted every weekend from all over the country ... it's a great resource... I do this from the DOL results & there is a dobe site which you can search judges/results but it isn't used much by people anymore so is becoming less usefull unfortunately. I take note of who/which dogs were entered, winners, in group/show awards - and if they are to type with our dogs. I also note the WHO's that win regardless of what dog they take in and avoid those judges - particularly if they have several dogs all of differing type who win, particularly if travelling. I have also started to note clubs that obviously favour particular exhbitiors or their committee and will not be giving them my hard earned anymore.

Oh your poor boy . Being a breed that isn't normally docked I would think it may affect results. But I can only share my experience with one of our girls who had a full tail. She had a split, open & bleeding tip of tail (about 10cm was affected) - after alot of battles with vets they removed the affected part of the tail as in their view it would heal up and she would be a happy dog again. Not the case - the shortened tail was worse than the full tail and we had a poor dog consistently in pain with an open bleeding tail and vets who just took forever to "do the right thing for the wellbeing of the dog" - eventually she was docked to normal length and she has never looked back. No trouble with it ever again and a happy happy dog :). My point for you is that taking the tip off probably won't change him injuring his tail tip. I can only say - do the right thing for your dog (& I hope you can continue to show him). I have seen somewhere a dobe person o/s made a brace for their dogs tail as it continuously damaged it as well - it went around the belly and then holds the tail down to level with the rear leg line. I have a friend who had pointers years ago and she told me when my girl was going through this that they used to tape thumb thimbles to the tip of their dogs tails - tried that and no go with our girl but it would depend on the dog. Best of luck with it.

Do try again. Marilyn Wrigley is the contact person. Her number is 5330 1578. I am quite sure that if the catalogue is not complete, they may squeeze in a late entry. Let us know how you go. M I did mine online via their website but that was last week. It was accepted. My girl has just turned two so she is my first one for this year - all the others will go through next year :) - hope they are all running as per the calendar. My bike has just gone in for a service & new tyres - so hopefully 9 days is enough time to keep conditioning her pads. She was a breeze the first time I had her next to the bike just like her dad :). Looking forward to it - love that circuit.

I enter sweepstakes with young dogs as it is a great chance to aquaint them with the ring & lots of other dogs. Very often with breed judging it is a bit rushed and the dogs are in and out before they get the chance to really realise whats going on. A large sweepstakes class gives you and your dog chance to relax, soak in the whole thing, do a little training, a little socializing AND get judged !!! A great experience for a young dog and I have found it makes a lovely introduction to the showring for a young dog. Unfortunately there aren't alot of Vic clubs running sweepstakes anymore. Good luck with your showing.

Oh Yeah - Go Kill Yourself Elsewhere :D . (& then they get pissed off when you tell them to get out of your tent !! - one day I turned my fans on someone who was lighting their next one with the last - they weren't happy but I was ).

We have a condition with our puppy owners that if they ever need to rehome their dogs they must come back to us or through us to be rehomed. We have only had one rehomed at 14 mths due to marriage break up - until now when I have 2 5yr olds to rehome due to marriage / relationship break up. They have done the right thing by coming back through us to rehome but it still breaks my heart to have to do it. The dogs will get on with their lives I know that - they cope better than we do :). Best place that dreaded add .
-
All our girls to date have had their pups at day 59 from first mating - until the last one recently in NZ - she kept me hanging until day 63. As hard as it is - chill out :) - they will come out when they are ready. If however she is stressed or you know that something just isn't right then go to the vet and do what needs to be done. Live bitch & puppies outweighs anything else. Good luck :).

You can enter a neuter into veterans classes if these are sweepstakes or property classes, not if they are champ point classes. If a specialty is offering Veterans 12 and 12a then neuters cannot enter these classes. Oh, should have put this - Dobe Specialties don't have Veterans as competitive classes - we did at the last National but Specialties have them as an exhibition class - Neuter at the NSW specialty will be competitive - not sure if I can put her in both. Would prefer Veteran over Neuter :).
-
These things happen but pity I would have supported this show - will look forward to it next year :) & good luck with your new club and getting it all up and running - a big task.
-
only just saw this post.... whoo hoo!!! Congrats on Rhemy's title - excellent news!! Go the Brown Dobes :D Ta - Go the browns :) - Yeah well I told you when he was a puppy that browns are better :). Might bring her up to the Specialty - will see how she is going, do you know if I can put her in Neuter and Veterans ???

Thanks guys - Eridor, yes we need to have our DOL name badges on (& congrats on NIS on Sunday - Rem was cold and over it by then, she couldn't get in the car fast enough) & Dyzney - not sure about the sweet  - we love her.
