I have excess of both - love the stuff. Haven't had an issue with the rubberback with either wee or the rubber. I wash in cold water with normal wash powder & bleach and have put in dryer in winter - still no issue at all. Only have one with a bit of rubber off but that was a dogs doing no the drybed. I don't like the rubberback in the whelping box though - I find it doesn't conduct the heat evenly through it like the green backed does. So rubberback now in crates & trailer on waterproof mats and greenback for babies / box.

4th Annual Mdba Dog Owners Choice Awards

Well done and congratulations, Bernadette . I know for a fact how dedicated Bernadette is to everything she turns her hand and mind to. Thanks Judi - maybe we can sit together at the dinner - I'll even drive you in if you like :D. And yes much to Julie's pleasure there were tears aplenty - how nice to be recognised by the people who matter the most - those who give our beautiful babies their homes for life. -
I have a trolley holder which is too small for the trolley I have now - pm me if you are interested with your normal email add (as I cannot post mulitple pics on here ) and I will send you photos & the measurements after the Xmas rush is over. It would be the right size for a whippet size trolley and goes onto a tow ball.

We have one of the expensive ones and it is worth its weight in gold - don't know what I did without it now . This one looks like it is not actually very big - not sure on measurements for your breed though. Also it has no brakes - a must if you a leaving a dog in a trolley. Apart from that looks ok - who knows the quality until you get your hands on it.

Illegal For Dogs To Wee On Nature Strip Now?
Bisart Dobes replied to ChocoLabs Dad's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wot a tossa !!! Though it is in Victoria - anything is possible . . . While I don't walk my dogs on the street, I do teach ours commands as it makes it easier when toileting them before going in the ring or when travelling interstate on those potty stops - and you can teach dogs to go and stop on command. Ours is "Go Quick" to go and "Leave" to stop. They learn this like any other command and most are reliable by around 9 months (giving time for bladder control). -
You can do it easily then - just go back and start with the dogs that have test results, profile them and do CBP down the generations. Sylvia Impossible if the tested dogs are dead which is the case for many breeders. You can profile from dna which is on record or from semen stored. So that covers deceased dogs but bitches - well . . . All you can do is work with the system as it stands and use it to your advantage. I don't see it as something we 'have' to do for the state law or the canine bodies - it is something that we can use to further our breeding program and the health and wellbeing of all of the puppies we produce. Within the Victorian state law we have to test for vWD but there is still the ability within the law to breed two affected dogs together - so what's the point of the law ????? Really there is none. All of our dogs are DNA vWD tested and profiled at 4 weeks of age. Our first dam was DNA tested in the US as there were no company's here at that time. So when she had her second litter which was a possible dual sire litter and we went to parentage profile both dogs, her and the litter - her DNA wasn't on record with this company and they wouldn't / won't share records / dna with each other . So we had to have her profiled with this company - no issue but still a pain in the butt that they won't work together. I have also spoken to company's here about the DNA DCM mutant gene test that is now available in the states - but due to the limited breeds this applies to it is not worth the $$$ the patent would cost. So again we send our dogs tests off to the states . . .

Hi, Try giving Robert McDowells a call - link below. They are in NSW but ordering to delivery to Vic is only 3 days at max. I assume you wouldn't have an issue getting it into the country as it is all natural. Anyway on speaking to them with a couple of different things I wanted to get on top of with our dogs they will actually put together treatments for your dog specifically. They are pretty well priced - they last forever and do work. I have all of ours on their Maritime Bark Extract year round and have several other treatments on hand. Well worth the cost and effort if you can get it into NZ. http://www.herbal-treatments.net/

In Vic - the papers must be signed at the time of mating - payment must be made at the time of mating or agreement signed in lue of payment. But I prefer to have the papers filled in as the owner of the bitch for the stud dog owner to enter their details and sign. Don't believe that the dog owner should have papers sitting there for me to take home - as the owner / register of the litter that would be my responsibility I think.

um its here in nz thats its banned too Bugger - well at least we could still dock our babies and not have injuries to tails to deal with.
-
With our breed and tail docking ban we have seen alot of 'ol timer' breeders walk away. These are the breeders who knew about producing a line of dogs - knew about pedigree's and how to breed towards an ultimate pedigree. This is where the dogs who produce come from in our breed. We have alot of breeders who breed to the latest top winning dog and we have alot who don't believe in line breeding - or who claim they are line breeding but when you look at the pedigree there are no direct tie ups in the first 5 generations, so therefore no real knowledge of the terms they should be using. Therefore in our breed you have some who can take 10 dogs in the ring and they have 5 different types - or even better take 3 dogs in the ring and they are all different - or take 3 siblings in the ring and you couldn't tell they were related !!! There are some who are concentrating currently on consolidating pedigrees (and we are one) but if these matings are outruled then our breed will be even more of a mishmash than it is now. I wouldn't do first generation matings atm but I would certainly do uncle/ neice and have done grandmother/grandson. Will this not just bring in more 'doctored' pedigrees - like the VCA asking members how they can stop breeders using 'phantom bitches' - mating the bitch they want and registering the litter under another. Surely those purists will do the matings they want and register the pedigree they have to ????? Perhaps that move to NZ is closer and more probable than I first thought.

Will the MDCA register progeny produced from a half / half mating ??????

Ok there is not a new mutt combo - it was supposed to be Moodle - as he put it " 'a mutt' - typo, big fingers and small keyboard " . But the great thing is that they have decided to have a purebred so that is fantastic, they have chosen which boy they want and are now deciding on names. So exciting to have people get so much pleasure out of this process - this is one of the nice parts of being a breeder.

Have never seen it for sale here . Bought mine from their website and it was here in less than a week. Well worth it - have used it time and time again - and no certainly don't want to sell them . http://www.dogfolk.com/

Maybe they meant Muddle ??? I'm going to risk annoying them and ask - don't want to offend as they have decided to go the pure bred choice this time .
-
They wrote 'Moddle' not Moodle - regardless its a mutt obviously - I just wanted an idea of possible breeds b4 I placed a puppy with them - ideal family just this one query and they are interstate so cannot visit them to check.
-
Someone enquiring about a puppy has just said that they have a 3 yr old Moddle !!! Excuse my ignorance but I cannot even think what that might be . . .
-
:D I would love to quote that - do you know who the author is ???

I always try to run my dogs where they are safe - this scares the hell out of me. I was training my 2yr old boy at KCC Park just before our specialty for obedience when a large GS dog came out of nowhere and it was in attack mode. Lucky for me it made alot of noise as it came up behind us. No chance of me picking up my boy - he weighs approx 43 kgs but I did have him off lead working him so I grabbed his collar with one hand so he couldn't run away from me, ripped the lead off my shoulder and swung it with all my strength - the buckle hit this a---hole dog in the head (and yes I hope it damn well hurt) which clicked its brain back into focus - I kept swinging the lead so that it couldn't get into 'our' space and yelled at it - I then approached it in dominant mode and it took off. Needless to say my boy didn't trial at the specialty and will probably take some time to feel comfortable working in obedience without looking over his shoulder - as the next time I tried to train him he went straight into avoidance . But at least he wasn't bitten and he didn't attack back - such a good boy. I have had alot of run ins with aggressive dogs over the years I worked with ADT / NDTF and so probably have a clear head when it comes to reacting to this situation - still scared the hell out of me. I never want my dogs to be in this situation and never want them to have to defend themselves and learn how to fight.

What Method Do You Use & Find Most Effective?
Bisart Dobes replied to Labkisses's topic in Breeders Community
We have never had one and I prefer to leave as much as possible to their mother, this is the way it should be - I believe in Suzanne Clothier's ' Selecting For Vigor' approach - I personally wouldn't revive a stillborn.
