Poor Brian. I never thought to enter his name! I made his reg name quite small at the royal so the kids wouldn't see it His mum's name is Everyinchabitch ;) I know! And it makes me giggle everytime I see it in the catalogue!! Love it :D I love getting 'told 'off' by kids for using the word bitch in conversation can't help it, it's habit!!

Biss- Should You Enter Property Classes?
SpikesPuppy replied to Irish Lassy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Many clubs will refund the BIS and RUBIS winners any entry fees in property classes. That's what our club used to do. But now we have an aspiring judge do our property classes prior to the regular championship show classes so we have the 2 different judges making the decisions -
Was just thinking about this thread the other day, and about how much has happened since I posted this photo. 'Pink girl' is, indeed, the little pup I kept, registered as Straitup Raise Thebar aka 'Casey', and she is now 19 and a half weeks old and has exceeded my expectations by winning Baby in Show not once, but TWICE in only 7 outings, both times with different group/specials judges. So I certainly can't complain I guess now my goals for this year are for continued success at group/show level and also to pick up some nice challenges when the time comes but for now, I'm just enjoying her and enjoying the baby class - not in any hurry for her to grow up!! Casey is now 8 months of age, and is sitting on 12 points ;) She was awarded Opposite Baby in Show at our breed specialty, winning her class of 3. 2 days later she again won her class of 3 at the Sportin Terrier specialty and again was awarded Opposite baby of breed. She has had 4 shows since turning 6 months old, including Melbourne and Adelaide Royals, at the latter she collected Puppy of Breed and Reserve Bitch Challenge (at 7 months of age, with 7 bitches present!! All except her were titled). She didn't do anything at Melbourne Royal but last Sunday at Kyneton picked up a 12 point challenge and RUBOB!!! We only have 2 shows left in Minor class, so haven't shown anywhere near as much as I wanted to but oh well. And her mother, Ziva has had a great year herself, being awarded Best in Specialty Show only 5 months after having her babies, she then picked up a 12 point Challenge at Sporting Terrier 2 days later. She has also picked up a few more decent challenges/Best of Breeds. And while I was in Adelaide with Casey, mum showed Ziva at Kcc for me, collecting RUBIG AND Open in Group!! October and November will be fairly quiet for us with only a handful of shows but I'm looking forward to a full showing schedule over December/January and hopefully getting some more points on Casey (unfortunately my dream of unofficially titling her before 12 months is unlikely due to the lack of shows but oh well), and eventually titling her as well as continuing to get Ziva pointed up, I would like at least one BIG from each of my girls.

Keeping Dogs Out Of The Ring To Help Others
SpikesPuppy replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't see why a dog should have a BIG win to prove it's worth as a Champion. Just because a dog is a common fixture in the Show line up doesn't necessarily make it the best example of it's breed and vice versa. Aside from that, why is my BISS and RUBIG winning bitch less worthy because she beat 88 instead of 89 dogs??? One of our dogs will title on mostly 6 pointers, through no fault of her or our own. We travel all over the place to shows- both metro Melbourne and country/ag shows as well as specialities and interstate. I believe once she hits about 3 years of age and settles into herself she will do very well for herself, but at 2 years old she is still incredibly immature. But she has no real faults. Actually, many experienced exhibitors would probably withdraw her from the ring until she came together but mum has kept her out there to gain the experience etc. I ave no problems with the Grand Champion title being for the exceptional animals but I believe the Champion title is just a formal way of saying "this is a very good dog of xxx breed". As for the original question, I have no interest in pulling a dog so one can title nor would I be likely to do it for someone else except in extreme circumstances. I show my dogs where I like, when I like. The competition or lack thereof has no bearing on whether I enter a show or not. -
Woooo Hoo!! Way to go Casey!! Do you know if any Jacks went through in Group?? I heard that Kerri's Puppy Bitch won Best of Breed, didn't know if she went any further. Not sure, sorry! Still doped up on cold meds so ran back to the gazebo after Minor lol.

My wee lass picked up her first challenge 12 points and RUBOB to boot. Can't complain with that result Was a good show and so glad the weather was better than last year!!!

They are taking entries on the day! Not sure about Friday sorry. Nessa was the smooth Collie there, was a great experience for her and mum! And I think a good opportunity for the public to see potentially more interesting judging and to see the various breeds all together! The public were certainly interested and were asking some good questions. Congrats, Paula & Ziggy!! Was great to see you guys do so well I think there were 3 Golden Retrievers??

Encountered one idiot yesterday - was minding a dog for a friend while she took her gear & baby down to the ring (she was coming back for the bitch). This bitch's bench was unfortunately right where the barriers were separate to provide the exit. Anyway, this guy comes up and asks "can I pat the dog?" I said "she's not my dog so probably best not to". His response was "Not your dog? Cool" and started patting the dog on her head. Before I could say anything else he walked off but I was left stunned for a moment about his rudeness. Couldn't believe it! Nessa was bored most of the day so slept, however when people came over to look at her I'd get her up and most were all " no no don't wake her!", she was only curled up because she couldn't do anything else lol and loooovef the meet and greets, especially the kids who were her own height
-
Hehe, my adults get so bored practicing at home or in the backyard and lag around or are just lazy. But yeah, put them in an empty ring at a show and they spark up. It's funny how they know, isn't it??

Royal Melbourne Show - Sunday 19th Sept 2010

Glad we're coming from the other direction!! Good luck everyone :D -
Ridgeback BOB was the dog CC winner, Gr Ch Mieridge Gatsbys Aplawz (Ai) go Kobe :D

Bulla is a fairly small venue once gazebos are set up, and although outdoors at KCC is nice and spacious, indoors is incredibly crowded. Especially when Group 6 is running a breed comp on the same day as a champ show and thus using 2 rings.
