  1. Mine would be. However if it happened in CW's yard, it would be difficult to see how she would legally responsible. Why is a canine's life more important than that of a domestic rodent (in terms of delivering the body to it's family and explaining what happened ?) I'm not talking about legal responsibility, I'm talking about respect for a family and their pet! The fact that these people mentioned their pet had escaped says to me they care deeply about him (the cost to replace isn't very much and it's not like they are difficult to come by!).
  2. This is when you report them to the council for having loose dogs and for menacing. Disgusting. Just wondering if people's opinions and suggestions would be different if it were a dog/puppy that was the victim?
  3. So they don't have the right to know how their beloved family member spent the last moments of it's life?? I see where you are coming from but I think unless these neighbors are particularly the angry retaliation type, they deserve to know the truth. Look at it this way- if your dog got out and mine attacke it, how would you feel if I just left it's body on the street and called you saying I found your dead dog?
  4. Having had pet rats, and having been witness to one of my own dogs killing one of them- it's quite traumatic when you think of your defenseless rodent an it's last moments, so don't take it to heart if they don't understand or don't at first. Rats can mean as much to some people as our dogs do to us. Yes it's a pity that it escaped and yes it's natural what the dog did but it can still sting.
  5. Wrap it up in a face-washer, put it in a shoebox and tell them you are so very sorry for what happened but remind them at least they have closure now and can bury their friend properly. At the very least, it shows that you care. Eta dark grey to me sounds like a Mink color. Or an agouti domestic, which is banded hairs, almost brindlish.
  6. Having Border Terriers and a Smooth Collie, whenever people ask what breed of dogs I hve (when the dogs aren't there), I am certain that they only here BORDER and COLLIE lol. The Borders are mongrels who 'have terrier in them, but I can't see any Border Collie??' or 'oh, I thought Border Collies were black and white!' Lots of people get surprised when I say how old they are "ooh I thought he was old! He looks like an old man!!" (talking about my puppy who was 7 months at the time). Smooth Collie, like Hava said, get the "it has a Collie head but why did you do to it's coat??" Also lots of "yeah I can see the Collie in it but whats it crossed with?" I call them 'Lassie for the lazy person' lol. Explaining the breed without having the dog there or a picture to show, I'll say 'like Lassie/rough collie but with a coat like a German Shepherd' even though the coat isn't really GSD like but I figure 99% of ppl know what a gsd coat looks like! Had an argument with a dip of a woman who was walkig a young rough collie pup (didn't have the smooth with me but had to stop and ask for cuddles!!). Anyway was chatting about how we had a Smooth and she went off on a rant about them being a scam and there is only one kind of collie etc, tried explaining that we showed etc but she was adamant that we had been ripped off. I don't mind terribly if people comment that my dogs are unattractive- each to their own. But when they tell me my breed is not what it is (and what it says it is on it's extensive pedigree with generation upon generation being registered as well- I can prove without doubt what my dogs are and where they come from), I get really pissed off. The curious/silly comments are fine but the arrogant know alls bug me.
  7. We were all set to attend! How did you get the email?? I had no idea that you needed to register (never read anything except the facebook page, on which I was marked as attending) etc I was just going to turn up (and would have been morethan happy to bring the terriers and collie!!!). Mad as that it's not on this Sunday but would definitely love to attend the next one!
  8. Would they also prefer us to enter fewer dogs in regular classes?? Maybe put a rule that no one can enter more than two dogs per show to hasten judging! What crap. It doesn't even make sense (especially as entry numbers have been declining???)
  9. Still an extreme amount of time, effort and money just to get another title on a dog when it should be included at every show here. Especially as there are no extra points for any further awards given past Breed.
  10. I had a thought earlier today... What if whenever us victorians enter a show, we include an entry form for class 18 (that's it isn't it?), for any eligible dog we have? Obviously no payment etc but something to show that there are plenty of exhibitors out there with Nueters ready and rearing to go?? Unfortunately I don't have a neuter but if they bring the class in I will!!
  11. The stalls were in the usual spots, in a sort of circle/square aroundthe center of the oval, but not a full circle I cannunderstand if it's your first Sunbury how it may look like they are split up but they weren't any different to any previous years set up. I think they just had a bigger gap in the centre (where the stall holders park their trailers etc around the cricket pitch).
  12. Down here we often have the BIG and whatever class IG ribbon handed out together, likewise RUIG. If I win something all I want to do is go back to my spot and cry lmao not run aroundthe ring crying then trip over because I'm shaking and my tears turn to those of pain (yes this actually happened!). I think it should be offered to the exhibitor to accept or decline a lap of honor
  13. Don't worry Pam, our fellow exhibitors would have been more than happy to do the maths and notify the breed club and Dogs Victoria and have any awards/gradings rescinded. Dogs Victoria wouldn't have to do the work. Unfortunately people doing the wrong thing and not caring for their bitches ends up biting the rest of us on the bum to make sure all is done right by our dogs. I hope this is adjusted to a more sensible rule, and really if it is not nation wide it is just a joke. We could have gone interstate and competed with this girl last weekend and no one would have batted an eyelid. Did the entries for the show close before the ruling was gazetted? If so you would have been ok to show her even before they brought in this 'review'. Otherwise the club would have had to refund your entry fees for the now ineligible bitch. It was not a retrospective ruling. We had a bitch with young pups shown recently and it was ruled by the committee that she was allowed to compete as the entries were closed before the ruling was in place. Not that it matters now for you - but handy to know for future rulings as ridiculous as this!!
  14. Your loser prize was getting to spend the day with me SP and both yay and boo for being one point from title. Hahaha aww. Hey at least my loser prizes were useful! I think I'd rather the poo bags/holder and hand sanitizer than the teeny tiny spray bottle they gave out for BOB!! was loverly to spend the day with you and Lolly dog. One more challenge
  15. Such a fantastic win for Cougar :D he is an amazing boy. Really really pleased with the judges choice My guys failed dismally. Never mind. It's Sunbury. Had an ace day anyway (the loser prizes were a nice touch hehe).
  16. I would say so! We headed out there this arvo to set our gazebos up and it wa already crowded! Parking is going to be a nightmare
  17. missed that announcement - the club still has her listed. That's a bit disappointing - we get a bit excited if it's a Swedish or finnish judge! Especially when the replacement judge is from a totally different region!
  18. Spewing now with the change of judge we didn't enter. Oh well. I have to work anyway. Good luck everyone
  19. Just Working dog for us and I'm just a spectator-slash-strapper. One day I'll have my Gundog
  20. So cranky we missed the entry this year :D: love these shows. Anyway good luck to all going
  21. It was the trailer parking arrangements and the lack of assistance to leave that did it for me. Up until that point, I was quite happy to deal with everything else. Hmph.
  22. On Carr St, the wide grass verge-y bit. Very tricky though to get out unless you know how to reverse well (preferably reverse in in the morning lol). However we didn't do that so had to reverse onto the road during peak hour. Not fun. So very grateful for the lady helping us out!! It's unfortunate but unless the regulations regarding gazebos changes as well as improved trailer parking (even if they had an attendant on hand to help block traffic etc) we probably won't do the Geelong Royal again. I know they can't help the weather but it gets to a point where enough is enough.
  23. Oh, if you are a DOL person, HUGE THANK YOU again to the lady with the GSPs for blocking the traffic while we backed the trailer out great to know there are kind people out there happy to help out instead of just thinking 'not my problem'.
  24. Oh I wish I had known that was you! I would have said 'hi' (heard you talking to the judge after inter ) congrats!!! Hehe everyone wanted to know what I was doing with the Lowchen lmao. She was great fun Am braving it tomorrow... Eep.
  25. Ooh you are entered tomorrow!! Will bring your umbrella then
