Journo Tells Of How She Habitually Dumps Dogs
cannibalgoldfish replied to _PL_'s topic in In The News
and the cats... What happened to the cats the new owner had because she didn't disclose the dog was possibly prey driven? -
Inside and out. Not one or the other.... :D

Shibas can be narky with other dogs, particularly dogs the same sex. They can be fine with some dogs and then just take a disliking to others. But in this case, I'd say it's more likely the changes she has been through.
-
Fingers crossed here too!

I was wondering that myself? Wouldn't you have kept walking when he first assulted their dog, rather than stop and wait for him to whip out his junk and try and do it again? Of course, I'm not a dude so I don't know how long it would take to, expose ones self?

Tracking Down A Breeder
cannibalgoldfish replied to cannibalgoldfish's topic in General Dog Discussion
Jules p.... I'd facebook googled and stuff. But I sent a random message to one of them. OMG! I found her! You were right! I founnd Lokis breeder! This is very good, he had his second fit last night........ -
I don't have a problem with dogs at markets, or anywhere. I don't like people bringing dogs to places where they say no dogs. Even if it's a few ruining it for everyone ect, If you feel like you can ignore rules and drag your dog along ignoring signs then you are not a good dog owner and it's your fault that rules are made.

How Many Times Has Your Dog Escaped?
cannibalgoldfish replied to samoyedman's topic in General Dog Discussion
Loki was "released" when he was about 2 by my exes dog digging a hole under the fence overnight. Exes dog was fine, Loki got hit by a car, broke his pelvis in 2 places. Second time was when he was around 8 and started going a bit nuts around certain triggers (fireworks, thunder, ect) and he learnt he could climb fences. The damn fence got 7 foot high before we gave up and learnt to make sure he was always watched or on a long line over night (this was before he learnt to like sleeping indoors) Now days he is too old and geriactic to try. Maybe. He lives indoors pretty much now. -
Tracking Down A Breeder
cannibalgoldfish replied to cannibalgoldfish's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ohh, will they? Thanks, can I Email them? I have very limited phone things right now? -
So... several years ago (here on Dol, infact), I tried to track down one of my shibas breeders. I know he was from possibly her last litter? His parents were due to be retired. So... several years later, I'm still really wanting to make contact with her. My Loki is, well, at the other end of his life span and I really wish I could contact his breeder and let her see her old man :D Her name was Lisa Hoggan. Her prefix was Sekaiichi shiba. I can't remember where she was based... Ballarat? Bendigo? It was B named? maybe? Lokis dad was a Torza boy, Torza Bold Concept, if that helped? (I lost the paperwork that named his mum but I think her pedigree had Kitsune in her name? does that help?) I'm really hoping to track her down. Still....

Have Loki survive till the end of the year. Then the year after.... :D

This. My dog is old, scrawny and shy around people he doesn't know. Must be abused! Don't know about you, but If me dog ever went missing I wouldn't go looking in someones back yard, I'd go to all the vets and pounds in my area.

Does this bit have a name? It's hard to explain, it's not gum or lip line. The ripply bit in a dogs mouth. A google search leads me to this photo. Not really helpful... But that lower jaw darker wibbly ripply bit along the teeth. It's not gum, it's not flews? right. Is it just mouth structure? My first question is... what is it called?

Looking To Chat To Shiba Inu Owners In Sydney
cannibalgoldfish replied to sailorweff87's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mental and ninja like, not! I'm not an expert by any means, but I survivedish(I have survived, still surviving) 2 shibas. Wylie was given his wings on Xmas eve just past. He was 10 years old. I still have Loki. Loki is 13 and doing ok. My boys were first cousins but very different in personality. Any advice I could give you would be.... Don't trust them off lead. Yes, they may have perfect recall (snork.. but sometimes a random spitz does?) but you never can trust them. It only takes one time.... Let them off all you wish but be able to grab them in a hurry. If they can, they will kill little furry/feathery things. None of my boys have been cat agressive (they grew up with a cat who put them in their place) but shibas can and will kill things if they can. Mainly birds and rodents. I often had small fuzzy bodies left on my doorstep This was in a small suburban backyard. Birds (starlings and sparrows mainly) would fly across the yard and my shibas would jump up and grab them on the wing. I am not joking! I have personally witnessed this!!! Do not underestimate the shiba ability to kill stuff. Also, Loki grew up learning to climb fences and kill chickens.(our chickens) He can scale a 7 foot fence if he can get a foot hold. Shibas are ninjas. I'm not joking on that either.... Dog aggression. Shibas can be dog aggressive. Wylie would have loved to have a rumble. He thought he was basically God (he was pretty awesome, let's face it :D ) Wylie had never started a fight but I never let him finish one if it did... . Wylie was very dominant and I never let him ever jump all over other dogs and when walking him I made him sit and wait before greeting strange dogs. Putting it plainly, he was a little sh** around other dogs. Every dog can be different. Shibas aren't that hard at all. Expect the worse and in most cases you are fine. I'm not in any way an expert, but feel free to pm me. -

What Have You Bought Your Dog Lately.
cannibalgoldfish replied to Willowlane's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yesterday I bought Loki a vet visit and s a result of that visit, epilepsy medication. -
I love that System of a down song it's one of my favs. (the one the poodle was headbanging to)
-
Awww. I was going to suggest a Clumber Spaniel. I know nothing about the breed but when someone says "plodding" for some reason I always think of them
-
Skip the Spitz breeds if you plan to let them loose in an unfenced dog park. Otherwise I'd naturally suggest Shiba inu, because you said it must be pretty *not bias at all.... :D ) They'd jump your fence in a heartbeat as well.

Nothing stopping you getting both :D I don't mean two puppies at the same time (never a good idea) but nothing is stopping you from owning 2 dogs, or more. Get a boxer, get a dalmation. As long as you can deal with both, do it. :D
