Awl & Sa Police New Compact First Aid Dog Kits
cannibalgoldfish replied to Kajirin's topic in In The News
That makes sense j. I didn't think of the added weight. Well actually, I didn't think of everything else they need to carry. -
Apparently (forgot where I read it now, dagnabbit) shiba inu breeders tried to breed out the stray sprinkle of random black hairs on the reds, trying for bright clear red with no black at all in the coat.(like a few in the tail ect) It led to dogs loosing the vibrancy of the red and becoming paler and more washed out. From I remember they needed the black to improve the stronger red colour. Seeing as they should have black nails, noses, eye rims ect plus most red pups are born with dark coats and a black mask, It seemed a bit silly to get picky about a few black hairs..., but that might just be me? :D I don't know enough about their genetics, so couldn't tell you what genes are involved I could google, and started to but sidetracked..... *Ohhhh! shiney thing!* Anyways, would breeding for clear fawn pugs have the same problem? Would they get too pale and washed out?

How about I edit your original thread... Breeds to be wary of, those with teeth. Like, er, like most Dogs. When you talk about breeds to be wary of.. I was once bitten by a rabbit. Of course, said rabbit was wild and hurt when I tried to help it so it wasn't really a breed, Let's say species. Although, this being a small country town and all, the rabbit might have had a domestic rabbit somewhere in it's ancestory. So I'm gonna blame those domestic rabbits. Everyone knows they are bred to be bigger and more vicious. It might have looked all scrawny and agouti coloured but I can tell because it has 4 legs and long ears it must be untrustworthy... It probably had domestic rabbits somewhere in it's breeding, that's why it bit me. Don't even get me started on hares....

Bring up current laws and legal things... Bring up how dogs are a 'product' and if any pups end up with a genetic condition that isn't tested by the breeder in contract(this works in breeder health testing) Or serious health defect that might cause problems they might be liable. To be honest, you don't have to be read up and savy on the breed. You just need to say people can be sued if certain health issues (add breed specific)aren't tested for.. Sue and liable seem to be good words to bring byb back to earth.... .

One of mine has peed on the other but accidentally,(I hope!)My younger dog often pees over the older dogs pee. My old boy dithers about with the fairies when taking a piddle and the younger one will sometimes get a bit too impatient and pee over it before the old guy has finished, sometimes splashing him

Four-year-old Girl Killed By Family Dog In Mountsorrel - Uk
cannibalgoldfish replied to melzawelza's topic in In The News
Off the tragic topic but... Why would you adopt a dog you could not control? Even without having small children this seems like a seriously bad idea... Even if you found out it was too strong for you after you adopted it, why would you keep it???? -

I'm surprised they didn't have one before? It's not like a police dog had never been injured before now. -
Would You Give An Adopted Dog Back?
cannibalgoldfish replied to Staffyluv's topic in General Dog Discussion
This is why whenever my dogs are at the vet for any reason (like vaccs) I ask them to scan them to check the details are right and the chip hasn't moved. -
I can only claim a Dol education here :D I have two boys with very different personalities. My "Mr issues whimpy the world is gonna end" boy and my "Mr teflon everyone loves me,whatever" boy. It was only when they were boarded for the first time I found out Mr complex was fine, he lives in his own mind and Mr Happy happy joyjoy was the one who had a break down when taken out of his family circle. It was a huge eye-opener and made me realise you don't really know your dogs until something happens to make you realise, er, you don't really know your dogs...

That reminds me of another weird thing since moving. One of my boys gets bored with toys within seconds. It's like "Hey Wow! a new toy!!!!!! wait, bored now" yet since we moved we gave him a new toy bribe and it's now his favourite thing ever. In the past all toys were surgically disemboweled within a day but now his new Mr squeaky monkey is the best thing ever!!!!!!!! He hasn't killed it at all! He even sleeps with it! Yeah, weird behaviour after moving....

It could be the move bringing things out? I recently moved out of the place I'd been in for over ten years and both dogs (who have only known the old house) have shown slightly different behaviours. One of them actually makes a different kind of bark in the evening when he wants in, which is weird..... So it could be Sarah, new house, more things to be "alerted " by?

Not a problem for me. My pets, I keep them. If my partner wants a pet, he can get one. We can share in it's life together but if he goes, he rightfully owns his pet. We are planning on getting another cat one day but who ever pays for it owns it. Which will be me :D

Some New Dog Rules For Tasmania.
cannibalgoldfish replied to pirate's topic in General Dog Discussion
and you just to look at how many off lead dogs you see in these areas to see how much actual enforcing the council actually does... -
A new co worker was recently telling me about her dog. He is a staffy and has cost her thousands in vet fees because of allergies and bad knee joints. She tells me she is "never buying a purebred dog every again!, crossbreeds are so much more healthier" When asked about where she got her dog? "From Gumtree, his mum was a staffy, they didn't know what his dad was..."

Box Full Of Puppies Cause Commotion In Sydney's Cbd
cannibalgoldfish replied to Panto's topic in In The News
He won't have a problem getting rid of them. Thanks to all this publicity there will be people lining up to "save" them..... -
I was just about to ask that all shibas listen and be responsive.... I'd love to own a shiba I could rely on to stay or drop when I asked, not when they felt like it.... Won't work. Dingos are an introduced species. What we need is for them to be declared a natural monument of Australia. For example, "In December 1936, the Shiba Inu was recognized as a Natural Monument of Japan through the Cultural Properties Act," Dingos need the same thing. Yes, they would have to be brought in and bred to a standard but it would keep them alive as a breed, which wont happen as they stand today.
-
Wait...? rajacodoo, don't you have experience with shibas somewhere down the traps? Or am I imagining it somehow? (when we talk about weird noises and all...."

In Tassie we only have ravens, not crows. But people still call them crows. Best way to make a Tasmanian zoologist explode? Call a raven a crow
