  6. Week 22/52 Clay has one job to do every morning. Collect the newspaper. He loves his job.
  7. Week 21/52 My very white orchid flowers.
  8. Don't let the fact that they are longhaired put you off. They are still low maintenance in the grooming department compared to say a Golden Retriever which has a much thicker coat. A weekly brush over, mainly on and under their ears, their tail and leg feathering and trimming under their feet and in between toes when required. That's it. They do drop coat like all dogs, but what you find is soft grey fluff balls on the floor and they are easily vacuumed up, whereas I found the shorthair Wei hair seemed to stick to clothes and furniture.
  9. Would you dare ever tell your short-hair Wei this? Well, I don't own shorthair Weis any more. Have now owned Longhairs for the last 10 years and just prefer them now. Here is my handsome boy Clay, now 18 months old and a bit of a handful but doing well in obedience and tracking.
  10. jesse_083 - Please go to some dog shows and contact Weimaraner breeders to see if they really are the right breed for you. Do lots of research. Having owned the breed for 25 years now, I believe a Weimaraner is a breed that is not suited to just anyone. They are a high energy, intelligent dog that needs a lot of mental stimulation. If you are prepared to put in a lot of hard work and train them from puppyhood and provide on-going life training they are a wonderful family dog. We do this by doing dog sports, like obedience, tracking, agility and basic retrieving work. You sound like you could potentially provide a great home to a Weimaraner. Oh and consider the Longhair Weimaraner, they are better looking than their short-hair counter-parts.
  11. I'm falling behind, but been busy out trialing the dogs. Great pics everyone. Week 20-52 - Clay made his tracking debut and has done well and passed his Test 1 and Test 2.
  12. Week 19/52 Clay did well again at our Dog Cub Funday with a 3rd place and a promotion to Class 4.
  13. Week 18-52 Finally getting back out doing some tracking training. Cedar on the left and Clay appears to have a great nose for tracking like his mum. Can't wait to get them both started at some trials soon.
  14. Gapvic, your pics are stunning.
  15. Week 17/52 Oh dear, another one bites the dust.

  21. Thanks Teekay. I will say I am biased and agree he is a very handsome boy. Yes, the longhair Wei's do have a soft velvety feel to their coat and especially their ears.
  22. Thanks for the tips re uploading pics from stupid Flickr. I finally worked it out! Week 13/52 Clay found a manky piece of wood as his new chew toy.
  23. Congrats KA. Amazing photos by everyone the past few weeks. Week 12/52 These beautiful birds were cleaning each other after feasting on my neighbours apple tree.
