Bunnings Wire Compost Bins As A Puppy Pen Big Thumbs Up
Weibritty replied to NTC's topic in Puppy Chat
Yep, same deal at my local bunnings - now $26. LP - You are not silly. I don't worry about those stupid spiral things, they are useless and a pain to put on, IMHO. I use cable ties to hold the sides together, so much quicker and easier. -
Ah, now I know who you are Thanks for the offer, I'll yell out if I need anything. Not a problem, very happy to help out. I really am sorry to hear about Millie. I know she is your mum's special girl. This is every Wei's owners nightmare....

Oh no, Weisnjac, more best wishes and hugs to Millie. I'll be at the Wei trial this Saturday, so if you need a hand with anything, just sing out. PM me if you like. Michele (with the hairy Wei's)

Hunting And Field Trials
Weibritty replied to oceanaussi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hey OA There is a Wei breeder in Victoria who hunts/works his Wei's. I don't think he competes at trials, but he does hunt deer etc. Maybe you could have a chat to him, if you are interested. PM me and I can give you his details. -
I'm in ET training mode too. I'm still trying to work out the gears on my bike, so thanks GayleK for explaining it as I couldn't make sense of the manual when I got my bike. Best of luck Sway.

Gundog Owners - Training Day Nsw
Weibritty replied to Tangwyn's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Sounds likes it is going to be a very informative day, especially for newcomers. Wish I could go, but I'm in Victoria. -
Here's another tracking website you could have a look at: http://www.trackingclubvic.org.au/ and also http://members.iinet.net.au/~mfmargot/tracking.html

Agree with this point. I think you get more 'grunt' out of it if it has a cord - JMHO. I've had mine for 7 years now and still going strong, never had a problem with it and I use it on 3 dogs, so it does get a good work out. Got mine at Bunnings (Geelong store) and I'm sure Mitre 10 sell them too. Just take on board everyone's advise/tips about it's use Gamby and you will be fine.

What wonderful news MM. So glad to hear he is back to his mischievious self again. Wishing you and the "little tough guy" Hef, a fantastic Christmas and New Years. Cheers Weibritty

Using A Rotary Tool (dremel/similar) To Trim Nails
Weibritty replied to kaywoman68's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh poor Chazer - he is probably embarassed wearing it - not that there's anything wrong with a pink harness. -
Using A Rotary Tool (dremel/similar) To Trim Nails

Hey Helen - Yep, Brittany's are the biggest woozies in the world. Sharnie used to give such a high-pitched yelp when I attempted to do her nails with the clippers that anyone would think I was trying to hurt her. The Dremel has made my nail filing duties with her so much easier. Chazer sounds like he is more of a woozie than Sharnie. Typical male.... -
Using A Rotary Tool (dremel/similar) To Trim Nails
Weibritty replied to kaywoman68's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi kaywoman68 I've been using a Dremel drill for my gundogs nails for about 7 or so years now and to answer your questions: What Brand - Dremel - from Bunnings. (I actually use it for other things as well as the dogs' nails.) What Sort/Cordless - Dremel Multipro and it has a cord - and I don't have a problem with it getting in the way either. I have a power point right next to my grooming table so it's not an issue for me. How much - Can't remember that far back, but it was a bit expensive (but has been well worth the expense). What speed - Mine has about 8 speeds so it varies as to what speed I use and on what particular dog. Which attachment - Yep, I use the sandpaper attachment for their nails. What dogs - Wei's and Brittany - and as all my dogs suffer from "Nail clipper syndrome" , I had to find an alternative that wasn't stressing both the dogs and me out. It has been a godsend having the drill. Mind you, it does take some time, patience and training to get the dog to get used to it. I found a slow, positive introduction to it the best way and don't have a problem any more with any of my dogs. -
My girl has done that in Novice - instead of a one minute sit stay - she did a one minute stand for the sit stay and for the down she did a 3 minute stand stay. At least she was consistent with both stays! I was actually impressed she just stood there all on her own. Sadly we didn't get points for her newly created version of a sit or down either. If you want a challenge LP - I'll swap you my Wei LH for your lovely Kinta.

If You Could Trial Any Breed....
Weibritty replied to whitka's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would love to trial an Aussie Shepherd or a Poodle (Min). But I love gundogs, and for now will stick to my two challenging breeds - Weimaraner and Brittany. -
Paw Paw ointment for me too. It's great stuff.

From what someone told me recently, I think it was only UDX that was changed in Obedience. Endurance - some changes. Tracking - changes and new titles. If you go to the ANKC website you can now download all the new rules.

bcgsd - I loved that first photo. Here are a couple of photo's I took on my little Kodak digital last year. I liked the unusual shape of the clouds.

Hey again We've had dogs at the club who've had C5's and still get kennel cough. It's a case of damned if you do or damned if you don't sometimes In the end just do what you think is right for your dog.
-
Hey Rachelle I think I know who you are.... the 3 year vaccination certificate is accepted at Werribee. The club rule states standard vacc's certificates accepted - so that can be C3, C4 or C5. Hope that helps. Michele

When my dog had HOD she was given a course of Rimadyl. She suffered no side-effects and has had it prescribed at another time for another injury. I think each dog reacts differently to drugs - it works for some and others it doesn't - just like us humans and medications. If my dog was having side-effects from Rimadyl or any other drug I would be back at the vets discussing alternatives though.

As everyone else is saying - please don't ever feed your dog corn cobs. My sister learnt the hard way when her Kelpie ate one and it caused a blockage and required surgery. Corn cobs are a big no no for my dogs.

Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (hod)
Weibritty replied to :ange:'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Stay positive ange165, you are doing all the right things for Ruby. It's just going to take a little time for her to get through this and get better and hopefully she is over the worst of it. I'm sure she will be running around like most Wei puppies getting back into Wei mischief soon.....
