  1. Thanks so much Beauie. Sparky Tansy the GS judge was Dr Jakkel from Hungary.
  2. Yay for my boy!! But they catalogued his owner details wrong - should be Ackland & Mistraka Kennels. They have apologised and amended challenge cert etc.
  3. I sincerely hope that anyone who is attempting to proportion blame for this one anywhere but squarely at this dog and it's owner never has need for any emergency services assistance. No police, ambulance or firies should ever have to deal with this. Any dog that launches an attack directly at a human's face goes well beyond the boundaries of defending property, and as such, this one's owners were charged accordingly. I hope their sentence includes a prohibition order on dog ownership. There should be ifs or buts, dog owners defending this sort of outrageous dog behaviour in our society give fuel to anti-dog movements.
  4. Don't know about online Diva but there is a golf shop in DFO Canberra. It's huge.
  5. And 2 Bloodhounds!! Hurrah!! Love them. I'll be the one drooling at ringside!
  6. @ Arwen! Mine ignore them, but some dogs hate them. They are pretty strange, this one was two massive arms that swung around - definite lunch-losing material!! It's a great entry for the Hound Club Show SSM!!
  7. Lovely pics, he's such a handsome boy! Plus he is looking so much more relaxed. Pic three or four for me.
  8. After losing a ballet flat at full gallop in the ring during a Royal I now go for the ones with straps over my feet... At least the judge didn't notice... The Steward was a bit more observant though... I got a good new pair of white ones at Rivers Clearance outlet (DFO) today - $30. I love them. I saw similar Sketchers ones for a whole lot more ($75 and upwards). Considering the punishment they get at shows - wet, dust, mud, etc etc. - cheap is better. That way I don't worry about them and can focus on the dogs!
  9. One of the sideshow rides at Crookwell last weekend had the most obnoxious siren that went off for far too long each time it started up. I felt for anyone with sensitive dogs - it was awful. And set up on the closest edge of the sideshow to the dog section - but even closer to the horse ring - some of them must have hated it!!.
  10. I didn't watch the video Sheridan but some of the stacked BOB photos I found a little shocking. There appeared to be some extremes of type as well as grooming in several groups that was a little over the top for me.
  11. Some definitely do, our last foster could out jog anyone, and be ready for more! She never sat still!! If she wasn't underfoot with wagging tail asking for a walk she was underfoot with wagging tail with squeaky toy in mouth wanting to play fetch!! She would've been a fantastic jogging companion or dog-sports candidate! Greys come in multiple personalities, just like any dogs. Some adore little animals and cats, and some don't. Some lounge all day and some don't. They are lovely family dogs. In my experience dog loving kids often seem to click with whippets as well. They are lovely family dogs.
  12. So am I guys!! Especially these two Kirty!! We used to have a cat - that we unfortunately lost too young. Our older dogs had grown up with him and never had an issue. Although they used to chase him a little if he ran. As soon as he had enough, stopped and turned to face them they turned into sniveling cat servants... He was always in control. I'd love to have one again but having hounds now that haven't grown up with them I'd rather a confident adult cat that I wasn't so worried about rather than a little kitten who could be intimidated. I would always prefer that for introductions with mature sighthounds that are not familiar with cats, a confident glare or even a swipe at a nose is infinitely preferable to a scared kitty and excited hound.
  13. It's normally quite well attended. We went a few years back and it was lovely.
  14. Squeeee!! Baby Clumber!!! She's beautiful!!
  15. I do tend to agree with you. :D I always aim for the eary drop off - that way I should get there at some stage before my breed gets judged!! :D I do tend to run late to shows... have done some spectacular runs from the car/trailer straight into the ring... Lucky my breed can get away with little to no prep sometimes!! Sheridan - 22 Staffords, ring 1 on Sunday, not before 10.30am
  16. German Spitz - ring 5, not before 9:30 Collies Rough - 39 entered, ring 2 not before 10:30am And Smooths - 16 entered, ring 2 not before 11:30am. Sleeping in for the Royal is overrated, you just end up missing out on a parking space, walking miles to the ring with everything and getting appropriately frazzled! I vote early drop off and a quick BBQ brekkie of bacon and egg rols before anything else!
  17. Oh no Edgesmum! Don't they know exactly when to get some silly coat mess going on! Hopefully it comes back in time!
  18. Neuters: 13. German Spitz (Mittel): 5 (is that a nice entry for them? I normally only see one or two!). And Amstaff: 10.
  19. What a lucky boy to have found his way to you!! And I agree - kudos to the pound for their recommendation. I'm sure he'll be out of his shell in no time, how could he not be with all that love?! I'm sure his breeder remembers his basic temperament, so is in a good position to make a call on it. He's got such a beautiful face!!
  20. ;) Sounds like a conspiracy to me BMP!! FYL there are 14 Havanese entered, in ring 6. :p ETA - 10 'Zoi in this year Diva, only half as many as last year.
  21. What a beautiful ambassador for her breed, and a lovely placement by GAP.
  22. Just got our numbers today and am looking forward to it. I always have fun at Canberra Royal. Who else is coming along? And to the other shows on the same weekend, Hound Club etc...?
