1. looks more 'skin and bone' rather than 'meaty' ... it's a term that comes from horses ... the classic arabian head is 'dry' ... you can see the veins under the skin ...
2. I saw a lady walking around Gympie KC show today taking photos, and she had a business shirt on. I read the business name, and thought " I'll remember that. " but after the drive home, I've forgotten! i thought it was " Paw Pics " or something like that, but I can't find anything on Google. anyone know who she was, or a URL for her site? Ta
3. Also guys, Don't forget that no rain doesn't mean that rivers won't rise ... if it's raining (or has rained) upriver then the water will arrive later ... sometimes it takes days for the water to find it's way down ....
4. Better than the use of capsicum spray (which has also been done) - at least the effects of stun-guns are short term. there's no requirement for an officer to issue after care to a dog that's been sprayed either ...
5. my favorite french actress Audrey Tautou and her best movie/character Amelie
6. I met him years ago, when he road tested the Tenterfield Terrier ... the whole conversation certainly does sound like him ... he really is that big of a f**kwit ... He's a self-professed expert on absolutely everything ... a real know-it-all ... and best not dealt with if you can help it.
7. just to be devils advocate ... working dogs aren't pets, and aren't viewed by the majority of cattle/sheep people as anything more than a commodity on the farm, no different to a good trail bike or tractor ... over many years living and working in the Longreach/Hugenden/Julia Creek area, I can attest to the fact that pups are acquired, tried, and if they work, then good, and if they don't then they're disposed of, normally by way of a bullet. Its not a pretty reality, but that's the market that this fence person's company are most likely aimed at, and that's probably why he has no moral issue with the raffle. if they're good working lines, then it's a prize that most people on the land would be keen to win ...
8. I have certain household items which Jane is more than welcome to, when the time comes to re-establish herself... namely side by side fridge/freezer, a couple of pantry style wardrobes, and cane lounge setting ... plus a couple of single bed inner spring mattresses in fair condition. I'm in Burpengary, close to where her home was ... Poor Jane ... get well soon
9. Cartmills is quite good ... the vet named Brook saved my Aussie Girl from a paralysis tick at the beginning of the year ... and if I hadn't of had the money for the bill, I believe they would have let me pay it off ...
10. one of the ladies I work with adopted a lovely 6 yr old gold/white Cocker Spaniel girl from this seizure ... she's in a lovely and loving home, and she'll be well cared for, for the remainder of her days... a happy ending for at least one of these poor dogs ...
11. looks like channel 7 are running an article on it, on its 6.30 current affair program ... lead in was " the dog that cost $500,000 to keep " so I'm guessing they mean Tango ...
12. While I don't agree with the ruling, I didn't read anything to imply that the ruling said the above? Even before the ruling, unless you have a purebred Amastaff with papers, your amastaff/staffie looking dog could be labelled a pit bull. That is very different from a judge saying that Amastaffs and pit bulls are the same thing (thereby implying that people with papered Amastaffs are now deemed to be pit bull owners int eh eyes of the law). I feel very sorry for the poor dog - kenneled for 5 years.
you're right Megan, the article I copy/pasted didn't say that .. It was said on nine news update ... here's another article, where it's said, and where Nine probably got their quote from http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/d-day-f...6-1225850154257 its down near the bottom ...

14. and in related news ... http://humanewatch.org/index.php/site/post...y_of_the_unite/ RACKETEERING LAWSUIT FINGERS HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE UNITED STATES Multi-Million Dollar Animal Rights Group Accused of Corruption; Lawsuit Available at www.HumaneWatch.org Washington – In a landmark RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) lawsuit certain to have far-reaching implications for the animal rights movement, Feld Entertainment and the Ringling Brothers circus sued the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), its lawyers, and several other animal rights groups last week. The nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) unearthed the lawsuit in federal court records today. CCF is making the lawsuit available online at its newest website, www.HumaneWatch.org. “America’s farmers, ranchers, hunters, fishermen, research scientists, fashion designers, and restaurateurs have seen for decades how the animal rights movement can behave like a mobbed-up racket,” said CCF Director of Research David Martosko. “But it’s still shocking to see the evidence laid out on paper. In a treble-damage lawsuit like this, a jury could actually do the humane thing and finally put HSUS out of business completely.” In its February 16 lawsuit, Feld leveled bribery, fraud, obstruction of justice, and money laundering charges against HSUS and two of its corporate attorneys; three other animal rights groups; the Washington, DC law firm of Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal; and all three of that firm’s named partners. On December 30, 2009, Federal Judge Emmitt Sullivan ruled that these defendants collaborated to pay more than $190,000 to Mr. Tom Rider, a former Feld employee who was an elephant “barn helper” for two years in the late 1990s, in exchange for his impeached testimony against Feld in an earlier lawsuit—testimony Judge Sullivan declared “not credible” and disregarded in its entirety. That lawsuit was dismissed. Feld is also suing Mr. Rider, and a nonprofit “Wildlife Advocacy Project” charity, claiming that Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal used it to funnel money from their plaintiff clients to Mr. Rider. These clients included the Fund for Animals, which merged with HSUS in 2004. “The new HumaneWatch website is the only place the public will be able to read this lawsuit,” Martosko added. “We’re publishing a treasure trove of information about the Humane Society of the United States, including lots of surprising documents that HSUS would rather remain hidden from its contributors.” Last week CCF launched www.HumaneWatch.org, an online watchdog project dedicated to analyzing HSUS’s activities and keeping the group honest. It includes a blog, an interactive document library, and a growing body of information about HSUS-related organizations and staff. To read this explosive federal racketeering lawsuit, visit www.HumaneWatch.org.To arrange an interview, call Allison Miller at 202-463-7112 The Center for Consumer Freedom is a nonprofit watchdog organization that informs the public about the activities of tax-exempt activist groups. It is supported by American consumers, business organizations, and foundations.
15. I hope the clubs all offer the class .... it'll be an excellent way to introduce new/pet owners to the fun of showing ... as well as giving an outlet for the puppers who LOVE to show, who've had to be desexed due to health reasons.
16. Here's my black tri aussie I could be wrong, but I think that Aussies have longer tongues than BC's too
17. http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/polic...0-1225824901758
Police investigate mass dog slaughter
ANIMAL cruelty officers broke down in tears while describing the scene of a slaughter of more than 30 dogs after a neighborhood dispute turned violent in New Zealand. The Times of London reported today that police were investigating the incident, in which 10 adult dogs and 23 puppies and very young dogs were shot dead by two men in a scene described by an animal cruelty investigator as "not unlike a massacre." Russell Mendoza was alleged to have confronted his neighbour, Rowan Hargreaves, complaining that one of Hargreaves’ 39 dogs killed his fox terrier. It was reported that Mendoza then forced his neighbour to sign a letter agreeing to the shooting of his animals as a result. Mendoza and another man, armed with a .22 rifle and a shotgun, later returned to Hargreaves’ property in a rural area west of Auckland and shot the dogs in just over 20 minutes. Eight dogs survived, including four thee-day-old puppies that sheltered under an adult dog that was killed. Inspectors from New Zealand’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) said the organisation planned to file charges over the killings when forensic examination of the dead dogs was completed. "I've never seen anything as horrible as this in my life and I cannot begin to imagine the terror these animals were faced with," Sascha Keltie, an SPCA investigator, said. "It was a haunting scene of death and destruction and I struggle to comprehend what took place there." Bob Kerridge, the executive director of the SPCA, said the animals would have known what was going on and some would have cowered in fear as others around them died. He said the case was among the worst his staff had ever seen. It was reported that the alleged gunman Mendoza runs a nearby pet shop. He would not comment on the matter yesterday but is believed to be preparing a statement through his lawyer. SPCA inspectors, who are government appointees, are empowered to file animal cruelty charges under New Zealand law. The men could face up to three years in prison. Police could also press charges because one of the gunmen did not have a firearm licence.

19. unfortunately though ... even if they do test those pups, it'll come back to bite the good breeders out there, because it'll show BIG problems in 'purebred' dogs ... it won't make any difference to the RSPCA whether they were puppy farm bred or show home bred ...
20. We're all doomed ... I wonder if all the cross-breds that pass through the RSPCA doors will be subject to similar testing before rehoming .. to give a clear indication if the problem is really a 'purebred' dog problem, or just a 'dog' problem in general .. bet they won't be ...
21. I want a panda dog ... can you get me one .. I want it asap, but definitely before new years ... and, feel free to fiddle with the colours .. imagine a dilute panda dog .. blue/white fawn/white ... the sky's the limit!
22. Here's a photo I took of a friends dog with a basic point and shoot - which I think edited a little in photoshop, to make it look more 'arty' Its a little on the old side, but I wanted to share anyway ... and now I've been inspired to get out and take some portrait's of my guys! ...
