I've looked at the shoes too sheena. Not sure about CR but all of the other US stuff that I've bought allows you to return it for a full refund. The postage wouldn't be free though.

I agree Weasels. My boy is friendly - and he doesn't run up to greet all dogs. In fact, part of his friendliness is being able to read dogs and steer clear of those not interested. Of course, I've got my recall as a back up if he approaches a dog without permission. People seem to think that a dog pulling to say hello to each and every dog is a "friendly" one?

That is not what Mum to Emma said. She said that, when owning a powerful breed with strong guarding insincts you need to be extra careful and responsible. This is because your dog can do a lot more harm than others can and you can damage the entire breed's reputation, leading to more BSL. There are many people out in the community who would now want rotties added to the list. I'm not saying this is right but it is the situation that we're living with. There might be other dogs out there that aren't good examples of their breed however their attacks don't have the same impact (physical, media, legaslitive etc) that large, powerful dogs have. (and please, let's refrain from posting about a toy poodle that hurt an elderly lady etc).

I have one of the ringzees - dogs have shown no interest in it at all! Free to good home (the ringzee that is)

My cousin gets her std schnauzer hand-stripped about every 6 months (I think) for $100. That said, she is not bitey and her coat is in excellent condition.

It's a "funny or die" skit, nit an ad so I do t know what some people are getting so upset about.

Thanks guys - it's a wonder that any one could understand my post! I fixed the fence last night, and when I let her out - under supervision - this morning she did go and check it out. I think shell ge staying in the house when I'm at work the next few days, just in case. She was manically barking at that poor man. He was on the phone at the time and I've been worried that he was contacting the council.

Lucy was in the garden and I was lying in bed. I heard a distant bark that sounded like her- but it was far away. I stood on my porch and across the street I could see a guy shooing something away and saying " there's a dog chasing me" or something similar. The dog was barking - I knew that bark was Lucy. I ran through the house to get to the gate grabbing the leash on my eay, calling her name. By the time i reached the gste she wws there- even trying to get under the gate to get to me. She ran straight inside when i opened it. Thank dog for recsll. Lucy has been abused in the past - puppy farm breeding bitch- and has fear aggression when she's scared but has some confidence. Normally when she's on her own and scared she shuts down. I feel so sorry for that man. I checked the fences and theyre in tact but there was a small gap between my neighbors fence and mine, in a corner brhind a tree. Thing is I got a hsndy man to extend that fence in height when I moved in. so either he saw a gsp and said nothing or Lucy made a hold to get Out (there are possums in the trees that are inmmy neighbors yard. I have blocked the hole and I'll be wrangling in the cousins tomorrow to help my reinforce the fence if she did indeed make the hole (the paling is on hr ground so I suspect her). She slwYs rushes to they spot when inlet her out and inwonder if she's been going in and out at night when i let her out. thing is infeelnlike a terrible owner that she tried to get out. I'm just so glad that her recall trumped all the "excitement". Sorry for the spelling and grammar - I'm on the iPhone and I'm shaken up - a crappy combo!

what is hte product piper?

Apparently the shiny cool coat is very good - TSD bought some. iSqueaks are squeaky balls that the dogs seem to love.

The breeds you like are very different (which is fine, I want a toy poodle and a giant schnauzer!) but I'd take some time to think what you really want from a dog and how much your lifestyle suits those breeds. I'll don my flame suit and say that the rarer the breed in Australia the smaller the gene pool. This can (and I say "can" and not "does definitely") lead to problems because there are only a limited number of dogs to be bred with.

the last thread did Steve - it brought out the "I hate the RSPCA" crowd, I was just being proactive/a manic merchant

Why Are So Many Cats And Dogs Being Pts In Pounds?
megan_ replied to Leema's topic in General Dog Discussion
mita - how are they determining the reasons that dogs are dumped though? In my very limited experience, people often lie about why they are getting rid of their dog to ease guilt/get more social acceptance. People rarely say "I was in no position to get a dog but got one anyway, it was an impulse buy etc". I often wonder how there are any people even left in Vic given the number of people who are "moving interstate and can't take the dog". -
I'm pretty sure this has already been posted and was removed by Troy. Remember, he can be sued if people make false claims as well.

Here's my first stab at a list. I reserve the right to change it at any time! Fergus: * Continue to get his love of agility back. This comes before all else. * Enter first jumps and agility trials, once we have solid, fast, reliable weavers. Failing spectacularly is allowed. *Reliable 2o2o for the A-Frame, not just the dog walk. * Scent detection training for fun. * Perfect heel turns, get him to a state where he could trial in OB, even though we won't. * Start flyball training, if we can find the time. Lucy: * Continue her rehab. * Enter jumps trial for fun, just to see how she'd go in front of a crowd. Even doing one jump will get us in the win column. * Weaving. * scent detection training for fun. * learning heel, including some sharp turns. Me: Try to improve handling skills as much as possible.

Have you ever tried just not giving them a cookie to see what happens? If you don't give them a cookie and they exhibit some undesirable behaviour (eg continue to paw, you ignore, they start barking) then I'd say it could be a problem. I often get told my dogs are spoilt (even treated like children) because they eat good quality food, have toys, get walked at least once a day (normally 2), get regular training and go to agility. How on earth is that treating a dog like a child? That is how dogs should be treated IMO.

RubyStar, I culled my first order down to $150, placed it and then found the sitck-in-the-ground weave poles. That was a game changer and I landed up placing another order for $260...So I say go for the big order, unless you have amazing control and won't place a second one...

Why Are So Many Cats And Dogs Being Pts In Pounds?

For me, the issue of the destruction of native animals has never been addressed by the catch, neuter and release advocates. Often research comes from the US, where native animals have a lot of natural predators anyway. I understand that some people love cats, but they can be ruthless killers. No one would ever suggest letting stray, nuetered dogs roam around suburbia... -
Great restraint RubyStar, but the dollar is falling, get in quick!
