Ta. Maybe post in the rescue group too?
-
Did you get her from a rescue group? They may be able to help
-
when the puppy days are over you'll look back and think "remember when they were so tiny and cute....awwwww"
-
does he eat any bones?
-
Also post in the rescue section as not all rescuers read "general".
-
If he is wetting himself because he is scared you need to see a professional, qualified behaviourist to help you.
-
I'm pretty sure it is photoshopped. They are pretty medium size dogs from memory
-
you take the dog...I'll take the man.
-
If you give her the off command and then treat, won't it just be teaching her to get onto the couch (so she could get off and get a treat). After all, not getting onto the couch = no treats??
-
perfect if you haave a dog recovering from surgery/illness and they want to get out and about and not be confined 24/7. I'm sure Cahrlie would love it.
-
I would add : if at any time during the dog's lifetime, if I can no longer provide adequate care or the dog would be better off in a different environment, I will do everything I can to ensure the dog is placed in such a home where it's needs are met and it is happy.

my dogs always smell of raw lamb after they've had some - they are mini schnauzers and so the blood etc sticks to the beard. Sardines are the worst!
-
Bub - he won't suffer. He just might sulk a little. Dogs will, in general, do the least amount of work possible to get the reward. At the moment, he gets the reawrd for no work. "Work" doesn't have to be anything labour intensice. I give mine treats and pats for targetting my hand with their nose.

I agree it is rubbish - but many people here on DOL say it all the time.

Difference Between Fear Aggression And Plain Old Aggression?
megan_ replied to Inka3095's topic in General Dog Discussion
just one comment: fear aggression is "real" aggression too! The word 'frea" is simply stating what is motivating the aggression. -
We walk in teh rain - they have jackets, I don't! I don't go if the rain is too heavy or the wind is howling as the pooches don't like it.

A positive about he breeder is that main papers are hard to get. Some breeders put all their dogs on main, even if they are not breeing quality.

You must always treat when you click - even if you click in error! A click is a promise to treat. I only use clicker training for free shaping though so I'm not much help on anything else. Just remember that if you use clicker training you don't have to use it for all training. If you're struggling with walking, paying her attention, clicking and treating then maybe give something else a go? I like the fact that my dogs know how to learn via a few methods. I also like that the clicker only means "try a bunch of things until I get a click" - the clicker is permission for them to try things with no "fear" of any reprimand (even a "no").

Rec For Vet In Eastern Suburbs Melb? Non-yearly Vaccs!
megan_ replied to chichihuahua's topic in General Dog Discussion
As others have stated, you can geet your dogs vacc'd how you'd like, but you won't have the vaccination certificate required for boarding, obedience, flights etc. My vet is in the SE Suburbs and has given me a certificate that says they only need their vaccs in 3 years time! This is not his standard practice though. I rang him and we chatted for about 1/2 an hour and he agreed. I think he agreed because he knows me, he knows I geet annual check-ups (they need the annual CC vaccine to go into kennels anyway) and he knows they are well looked after and I bring them in if needed. He still recommends annual vaccinations to most clients for many reasons. I won't do his reasons any justice but it does go along the lines of the herd level of vaccinations in our area (below 70%. You need the total herd to be over 70% to reduce the risk of epedemics) - your dog might be safe but there are greater community issues. There are also some other reasons that I won't go into here. Chichihuahua - Most dogs do fine after vaccines (note to everyone - I didn't say all). At the end of the day you have to make the decision that you feel is best for your dog and the community and stick with that. ETA: for those knocking the vets that don't go with 3 years, the manufacturers haven't come to the table and they are only endorsing it for 1-year - that puts vets in a very hard spot re: liability. -
When my pup chewed through the zipper I got some quotes for the repair job - they were extreme. I sent it back to K9 softcrates and they did a great repair job for much less than what everyone else quoted.
-
I assumed the OP was talking about someone else - as from her previous posts she seems to love her dogs?
-
Can you elaborate Bub??
-
I would run a mile from any breeder who said they weren't necessary or had the hide to ask you to pay more for them. They would automatically fall under the catagory of "unethical". In many states what the breeder is suggesting would be against the CC rules.
-
Maybe ask for a barium swollow? Do they do those with dogs??? If not, they might need to but him open to investigate, as nothing showing up on x-ray doesn't mean there is nothing there.

My dogs didn't do well on it all all - they have very runny tummies. I now feed Nutro All Natural or EP Holistic (although the Pet Stock person told me the Amish make EP Holistic. The Amish are notorious puppy farmers so I'm trying to verify this info and if it is correct I'll never feed it again).
