  1. Awww both your baby girls are adorable! They will be the bestest of friends growing up together.
  2. Lola was obsessed with eating any kind of poo - hers, Arnies and the cats poo straight from the litter tray..mmmm yum yum! LOL It took her a while but she stopped eating hers at around 7 months old. As for the cats, she will still eat it now, I just make sure the litter tray is clean right away so she can't gobble it up! Her diet was fine, I think she really just loved the taste of it!
  3. Poor Charlie and his ears! I was just reading up about Apple Cider Vinegar. Its supposed to be great for so many things and one of the recommendations was to spray into the dogs ears and wipe. Its a natural antibacterial, maybe give that a try and read up on this Apple Cider - so many uses for humans and dogs! Plus it only costs a few dollars.
  4. When he was a pup: Now: If you really wanted too, you could trim the white bits and the black hair would grow over it.
  5. Infact, just looking at my signature pic (excuse his messy fur his legs were wet). You can see the little patch of white, looking at it now, it looks smaller.
  6. My boy had a lot more white on his chest when I took him home, now its so small, like the tiniest patch of white that you cant notice it. Small bits of white on the chest seems to occur frequently in Black and Tans and I don't think it has anything to do with how well bred they are. They are still classed as black and tan because tri colours have white on their face whereas Black and Tan do not. If he is for a pet home, I wouldn't worry about it, it will slowly grow smaller. The health testing is more important. Arnie is the most gentle, loving sweet man and all the white in the world wouldn't change that!! :D Got any pics??
  7. Stunning pics!! Quite a gang of beautiful unique dogs you got going there, love it.
  8. Yeah I saw it Sam, I replied back. I think I have to start making my own Barf mix, but I'm vegetarian and looking and smelling the meat makes me feel sick! The Barf patties are just so convenient. hmmm.
  9. Thanks for the advice Poodlefan. The first thing the Vet said to me was he had low salt levels, and something else I cant remember - so would that be the low Potassium? Day 2 of him being home and this morning no stools yet. He has eaten his chicken and drinking water, but doesnt want to play yet, still just wants to sleep on the couch. It sounds like quite a few dogs get this, wish they could pinpoint exactly how they get this. Seems like I was lucky that his was only a mild case, or that I got him on the drip quickly and it didn't progress further.
  10. You had every reason to scream like that, thankfully Lucy is ok!
  11. Hey everyone, my beautiful boy is back home today! Apparently he was bright this morning, so much so that he chewed through the IV drip, naughty boy. Then he ate some poached chicken and the Vets were convinced it was HGE and that he was on the mend enough to send home. If he vomits or has bloody stools again then to call them. He went out and I watched him do his business. It was still diorrhea but no blood. Then as we walking inside, I noticed a flash of green glitter in the grass - it was the missing plastic piece that I thought he ingested!! So the Vets were right and they were so quick to give him the correct diognosis. Here is the rundown on the receipt of what they did: Consultation Hospitilasation IV Fluids, drip set up Admission Blood Panel Radiology - Initial 2 plates Maxalon Amp Potassium Chloride Maxalon Amp Now he is resting on my feet and I couldn't be happier. I am now wondering if it is possible that this virus comes from raw food? The cause is still unknown, although more seen in small breeds. Thanks for all your good vibes - they worked!
  12. Thanks for the stories guys. Aussielover - Yes he is up to date with vaccinations, he is 2 years old now. Your right, that is the test they were going to do next if he didn't improve, contrast radiograph. Have just been reading about the HGE - wow, what a nasty type of gastro, it could very well be this. I will call the Vets at around 8 pm tonight to get an update.
  13. They didn't mention parvo at all? Maybe because of the results of the test?
  14. The Vet just rang me and said the results of the xray showed no blockages/ objects. However this was a piece of plastic and she said it may not show easily. She said his tests came back with low salts and low something else which is common with losing fluids (vomiting) and she suspects Hemorrhagic Gastro. They are keeping him on fluids and will see if any improvement tomorrow. If not they will do other tests, she mentioned something with a dye? I'm not convinced yet that its just gastro. Thanks for your thoughts.
  15. Thanks Kirty! Hey aussielover, not sure about biochemistry, the nurse just told us as we were leaving that they had just done the bloods and it was all good. They will let me know before 7pm how the xrays went. Its a 24 hour Clinic so at least I know someone will always be around. When we were leaving, he couldn't really stand properly. :-(
  16. My darling boy Arnie is currently staying overnight at the vets, I just dropped him off an hour ago. 2 days ago I found like a sandpit toy shaped like a rabbit, made from hard plastic, in our yard. (Thrown over the fence from kids next door). It had chew marks and there was a piece missing. This has happened before, the kids threw some other toy similiar over the fence and I only knew last time because in his stools were all these pieces of purple, sparkly plastic. I was so worried, but it was all good. This time the plastic was green and sparkly. So I couldn't find a bit of plastic that makes the rabbit and I have been keeping an eye on him and his stools. He did normal poos and wees, but started eating grass heaps and vomiting all grass covered in clear liquid. Stopped eating and today was very flat and sad. He did drink a little water today. Then he had to go out to go toilet so I followed him and thank god I did, because he squirted out brown liquid diorrhea but with bits of blood that seriously looked like flesh, and it smelt like blood, didnt smell like poo at all. We immediatly took him to the vet and he is there now. They took his bloods straight away and said that was all good. He is on a drip and they have to take xrays to tell if there is a blockage or whatever. It could either be the plastic or the vet said it could also be gastro but then its a bit of a coincidece. Has anyone been through this? If your dog had a blockage, how was the surgery? Do they recover ok? Is it life threatning? I'm so worried, I cant stop crying.
  17. im so intrigued to hear more, keep us updated!
  18. Obviously I'm not talking about breeders, but clearly this person is not a breeder. She might be showing, or planning to but, of course, let's make the assumption that she's either: a.Stupid b.Planning to become a BYB SOOOOO much easier than trying to be helpful There is no need to be nasty to someone. Your right though, I did assume that if someone was interested in showing as you suggest, they would have some kind of idea about dogs!!
  19. Obviously I'm not talking about breeders, but clearly this person is not a breeder.
  20. Why would you want a bitch in heat all the time? Desex them! Easy.
  21. Dogs are NOT livestock. Their intelligence, trainability and thousands of years of development and use as workmates and companion animals gives them a unique position in relation to humankind. I am totally against the way they treat dogs, but just because a pig for example is bred as livestock doesn't make it worth any more or less than a dog. Pigs are very intelligent, clean (yes clean) and sensitive creatures. What about the issue of Sow Stalls here in Australia, where the female pig is crammed in a stall, so small that they cant turn around, let alone move at all! http://www.savebabe.com/ Perhaps we should look at our own practices first. And yes, I am vegetarian.
  22. Love the pics, I want to squish all of them and give them lots of kisses!
  23. Congrats to Ren, he is amazing as is your other Collie. I love the pic of them on the couch with the cat, too cute! Barney and Dante are just so beautiful, looks like they are having heaps of fun being furry puppies. Archie looks lovely and yeah great photos, how cute is the pic with his best friend Lucan.
