Mel, We were so very sad when we heard about Winston. Although we only knew him for a short time ... we too shed many tears for you, Soda and the gang. May you be at peace knowing that at Imoen he was so very loved and so very special to not only the "gang", but also those who were lucky enough to be part of your boxer family. I know too well that heavy feeling your heart has after losing such a special baby ..... but with time the heaviness lightens and is replaced by a proud smile, everytime you think of your baby. I have created a photo wall of Sabre, Bella and Lewis and so now every time I walk into the loungeroom I look up at my big girl and she is still part of my every day. ... up there with the babies I have now !!!! Winston was a credit to you Mel ..... an absolute joy. Love Erin, Luke, Bella and Winnie's nephew Lewis xx

My 5 year old Boxer Bella is on Vetmedin (for Cardiomyopethy) and they are amazing. She was diagnosed in Oct last year and they only gave her 6 to 12 months to live. It is nearly 12 months down the track now and she is doing so so well. She is almost symptom free. She still fatigues quickly and has a slight cough somtimes but the Vetmedin has been wonderful. She is on 2 a day and for 14 my vets charge about $35, but if I buy 28 they only charge me $54. They generally dont sell me more than the 28 (2 weeks) at once. I might ask them about buying larger amounts. She was on the Frudix for a while but is not on that any more. They certainly arent cheap .... but for the results they have given us ... I would pay anything !!!

How Best To Treat Early Arthritis
Bellaboo replied to Perry's Mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I really cant speak highly enough about Sashas blend. It was a miracle cure for my Malamute. It took about 3 weeks to kick in, but was fabulous. I ran out once over the long weekend and she was in agony after just 3 days without it. -
Hi there, I have boxers and I do both of mine in the shower with me. I used to do them in the bath tub, but the shower is far less messy and keeps them contained. Bella was a bit hesitant to start with, but some treats fixed that. My puppy Lewis loves it tho ... . He tries to hop in even when its not time for a shower. I used to have a malamute but with her I always took her to the groomers. It was impossible to dry her without the proper driers and if she didnt get dried completely, she would get itchy. (She had very sensitive skin). Give the shower a go with you in there ... is super easy !!!

Hi, I guess its really depends on your dog, but I prefer a collar. I have boxers and before that a Malamute and I found that the harness just gives them more pulling strength. Instead of just using their neck to pull they used their whole body. The Mally in particular was almost uncontrollable with the harness. She was 50kgs and so when she pulled it was very difficult to hold her back. (particularly considering she weighed more than me). Dogs dont like their heads / necks being pulled back, so with a collar it is much easier to train them not to pull. Because I used to walk both the dogs together and was concerned about being able to control them should another dog come at us (combined weight they were nearly 80kgs), I started to use a halty. They were fabulous. Although they didnt like them to start with, it stopped them pulling completely and also allowed me to walk them both using just one hand. And when other dogs did come at us I was able to control both my dogs without any dramas. My boxer is very good at getting out of her collars tho, so when I use a halty with her I still double click it onto her collar just for a bit more security. I now have another little boxer pup who I only use a collar with. He is much better so there is no need to use a halty with him. I think its just trial and error. Try both and see what works best.

Hi, I suspect that my 5 1/2 month old puppy has been eating his and his sisters poo on occasions. Ive only caught him doing it once, but have almost sprung him on a couple of occasions. The vet has recommended some slow k tablets (need a script for them) and some MSG powder in his food. I havent tried this yet as I have to get the MSG powder ordered (no asian food stores where I live) but Ill let you know if it works. The big thing tho is to make sure there is as little poo as possible in the yard. If its not there he wont eat it. I do "poo patrol" up to 4 times a day. And if I see him go anywhere near it I rouse on him. Good luck and Ill let you know if the slow k and MSG works
