yeah was looking at either getting a 70-300mm is lense s/h or saving up and looking at a 70-200mm lense sh, but the is versions start to get a bit $$$

Hey all, im kinda new to photography and have just brought my first dslr a canon 450d with 17-85mm lense. A couple of questions, should i have a filter on my lense and if so any reccomendations? Second question, i am looking at also buying a good zoom lense, any reccomendations? Will probally have to look at s/h lenses as i cant afford top dollar for a new one, thanks, james
