Yes that is the fire causing so much chaos and gorgeous sunsets for us not in the line of smoke. I do feel for you AM as I really hate being stuck in the smoke haze. Nice pic of it though - shows the intensity. Thank you Poocow. They just kept getting better and better as the sun set. I too was amazed as I was going to go back inside and then decided to do a second set of pics because I saw the moon. Nothing embarrassing about that pic jayC. It reminds me of when I used to live in the city. You have captured the sunset just beautifully. I also like your arty farty pic as it is something different.BB also looking forward to seeing more of your baloon popping shots. I love that ad on TV with the slow mo water shots. Fascinating!! -

These are mine for today taken over a 30min period. There was a bush fire today hence the strong colurs in the late sky. -

TerraNik awesome pics With the first one is it a baloon that you have burst (I know stupid question) just you cant see the skin - that's all. Such clarity in the fluff shot. I guess it makes a difference with you have several colours in the face as opposed to just black. Black poodles are very tricky to photograph... Kirislin - where's mine? Love the movement of the tongue -

Not to worry I will sit back and enjoy your starts to the day You can see my endings Thanks for the info BB. I will have a play later today shhhh don't tell the boss though.. -

Thanks TLC. The weather one was taken just before dusk whilst a huge storm went through parts of Canberra. You can see the rain streaks with the sun shining through in the orange tones. There was also lightning but I am never quick enough to capture that  Another challenge for me at some stage. The pelican roosts on that branch every afternooon/evening and yes he is high up. I had the zoom lens on for that one ;) -

Here are my two for the day. I achieved what I was after - an in flight shot. Although I really must get my eyes checked..... I thought these were in focus when I took them ....obviously not I am having a good time playing with that manual focus though. -

The one in the Non-Sporting ring facinated me as he/she would just stay there as the dogs trotted around. Sometimes moved, sometimes not.. Cheaky devil!! I saw you take the pic of the Dane lol. Nice shot. Thank you for all the lovely comments regarding my pics. I love looking at the diversity and skill of all the people and photograhs taken on this thread. Even the most mundane chore (washing) has been made to look inspirational. Mince has taken on a new meaning and everyone has such gorgeous pets and wonderful ideas of making something out of nothing. The sunsets and rises are stunning, the outback is a must see now and we have even been to the moon Keep up the great work people, lots more to be explored. -

Bindi Boo Thank you. It is all natural, straight off the camera yesterday. Not even a crop I was in a bad mood so a pic was the last thing on my mind. Funny how it really refelcted my mood now I look at it. A small glimmer of hope and brightness in an other wise dark place. (Renovating the ensuite and EVERYTHING is going wrong) Another story, another time. PM cute boofhead PPS that is a lovey pic the clarity and subtle hint of shaddow at the bottom. Noice. How did you do the frame please? Is it a preset one on PS? Helen- no fair. Your kids always look great in pics. Fabulous shots of them as always. Really like the aspect int he first pic. Jayc - yep laughing at your second pic too. Very raunchy in a sublte way. Naughty tree. Ripley that is an amazing capture. Very detailed Those Nemo pics made me laugh - especially the waving one. What a smart little fishy. Pleased you still have him as he looks like a real character. Keep up the great work peoples. -

Nothing bad about that pic PC. I love it, great clarity shows expression and makes you want to look at it more  You must be very patient iltby with those ants. I am sure you will get that million dollar shot that you are after. Personally I think they are very good Rocco what techniques are you using to get the colour effects on your gorgeous shots? They just keep getting better and better. Great pic popsicle!! Love the trunk. Well here is my pic. Seems like the weather was very popular today Nothing special just a lonely white cloud getting eaten up by the storm that was over before it began  Sorry if I have forgotten someone today. It was not intentional - just so many great photos. We are all getting better and better -

Ripley Great area to grow up in I would imagine. Such a lovely country feel and the people are just lovely. We have only been here 7 years but absolutly love it. We are nearer Seaham Very rugged and masculine looking. Great shot Lea  Persephone have you tried focusing on their eyes or beak? I am no expert but what I have read suggests that as it is a solid part of the bird the focus is more accurate. Happy to be corrected  They are lovely pics and I love how you have arranged them. We don't get those lovely little birds here only cockatoos, magpies, minors, plovers (grrr) sometimes eastern rosellas and corellas (double grrr). I have noticed a lot of you use a black frame around your pics. Where are you getting these from? And no it isn't the one that is system generated when the pic is reduced -

Went out for tea and took the camera with me. This bridge is across from the pub. I would have liked to spent more time on the subject but nooooooo OH made me hurry so I only had a few to choose from. Loving all the pics guys. I think we have all come a long way in 14 days I know I am starting to get the hang of using the camera and I am enjoying taking pics more. So that has to be a good thing. Thanks Roc - big compliment, appreciate that. Your sister should model for a living, actually both of you are very attractive and photogenic. Not to forget the little fellas roc and Ralph. -

AM ;) You did it Piper that is a gorgeous pic of your baby. CM - I am loving your Dali shots. Your subject is so photogenic . They would great as a series on the wall persephone what stunning colours you get to see everyday. One day I hope to get out to the centre and experience all the colours and beauty of Australia PPS Why are you not happy with your pic? I think it is a nice shot. I never seem to capture a building at its best. My building pics all look rather blah and boring. -

at aquaticmalamute. You have no idea how long and how many pics it has taken me to get that one decent shot of the glow ball. And to make matters worse I have been out side with the mozzies at all hours, tripod and the works setting up for that all important shot. I get up this morning to let the poodles out and woah and behold the moon is sitting there laughing at me. I raced in, grabbed the camera and just clicked off 4 shots to be precise. Didn't put any thought into it at all. First one was washed out readjusted the settings a bit, lent up against the side of the house and shot. Thought they were going to be blurry as I am not very good at holding the zoom lens still. But all is good and I can now say I did it. Anyway there is no such thing as a stolen idea. Go out there and get that shot! Lea and Krislin had moon shots up before me (when I was trying) and theres are both excellent too. They inspired me get it right The details of the shot are: Canon EOS400D 1/200 f 9.0 ISO 400 lens 75-300 full zoom manual focus
