Does she have an ear infection or dark brown discharge from the ear as well? I have had toys for most of my life and have never come across or heard of this. So very interested to hear how she progresses. Has the vet sent you to a specialist to be looked into further?

PoodleFan has suggested it may be Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy or SLO for short. This fits with all the symptoms and with what Becks previously mentioned. I will pass this on to the owners and get them to visit the vets once again. Big thanks PF What would I do without you? Sorry PF - I stuffed up by putting this in the breeder forum and you are not able to reply in here

Thanks for that Becks I will let the owner know. Certainly can't hurt

Thank you for the suggestions. He lives in Tasmania so it is possible that the area he is in is quite wet.. Also I will pass on the suggestion of immune system. Some blood tests may be in order. I have asked him for some more information and some pics so hopfeully that will help. The dog is black and has black nails. The front nails are very short and stubby now and very sensitive to shave around.

I can only ask Darkrai. Just realised that I should have posted this in the health forum.. Oops!

Hi just wanting to know if anyone ahs had this issue with their dogs or knows anything about it? I sold a toy poodle 4 years ago and the owner has contacted me asking if I know anyting about it. I can't find any information so I am asking you guys. From what I understand the top layer is peeling off leaving the rest of the nail which would be very tender. The vet said a zinc deficiency but I am not so sure. Any ideas?

Ravyk did you use the clone stamp or some otehr magic to remove the halter and farm equipment? -
I had used eukanuba for 9 years with no issues until recently. I noticed there was a lot more grain being used as filler by the amount that was left in my feed bin when the contents had been used, the fishy odour was no where near as strong as it used to be ( I have an older bag which I campared it to) combined with a number of my dogs starting to get gunky ears. This usually happens with too much grain in their diets I was quite upset that it had "changed" as it was great for them. They all did very well on it and their hair grew nicely. I have recently changed to Pro Plan and things are settling back sown again. If its not broke then don't try and fix it. Meaning if your dogs are doing well on euk then continue I wouldn't have changed but for the issues I encountered.

I always worm a week before they are due and have never had any issues.

Awesome pics Kirislin Would love to see the poodles do a chase

Yep - hate that one! Selling poodles now with the oodle market in full swing is very difficult. I have to say the GP is getting very smart with tricking breeders. I dread selling litters especially since I have been done over once before. Fortunately 1. the puppy bitch was desexed although that didn't seem to matter to her (I think it may have ended up overseas ) and 2. I found out she was in with a couple of other people and made it clear to her that I had told as many poodle breeders that I knew of about her and her exercise of buying lots of puppies.

So sorry to hear Jag - to lose puppies that late in pregnancy is very hard :D At what week did she receive the injection? Were prog levels monitored afterwards? Did your girl have a normal pregnancy to another sire? We're supplementing with progesterone tablets (apparently they are safer than prog injections ???) despite the possibility that a 'low prog' during pregnancy could be normal for this bitch, but given the puppies to the same import semen were lost last breeding attempt (6/7 weeks), I feel I have to go with prog supplementation this time around. While on the supplements, prog levels are being monitored every three days and an u/s once a week. I dont mind the weekly u/s, puts a worrier like me at ease to see the little bubs moving about heart beating etc all okay. She had the injection after she lost the first pup just after 7 weeks. Up until then everything was going along nicely - no problems. I didn't even suspect that anything would go wrong this time around as I thought the first time was just one fo those unfortunate things. No my vet said the shot would hold her until delievery time He isn't a repo vet and was loath to give it in the first place.... She has only had the two matings to the one dog so I have no idea if she would carry to another sire. I am a bit scared to mate her again as it is so heart breaking for her and me. I think she believes it is normal to have a puppy and mum to take it away from her If I had known what I know now back then I would have been more forceful with what I watned or taken her to the repo vets an hour away. Oh hind sight - what a wonderful thing. Best wishes for your girl. I hope she goes to term and we all get to share the next part of the journey - Littlies growing up :D
-
I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you Lili. My girl had the same issues and has lost 2 litters to the same sire - go figure?? She lost the first litter at 8 weeks and the latest one started at 7 weeks and continued until she whelped at 8 weeks. I wish I had been more adament that one shot was not going to be enough Very traumatic for her and I.

No where did I read that the dog was off lead. That is a big assumption to make. The dog may have been on a long tracking lead and found the suspect around the corner of the house hence the reason for him being hit in the first place... I have no problems with a suspect being bitten if he/she engages the dog to do so. As an enrolled police officer the dog is using his defence as would a human officer if attacked.

Red heeler and ??? Pointer ? I am not much good at these guessing games.

Thanks Sway. I do the same thing I have had both success and failure with the tube feeding. I will do it if it is required - I just don't enjoy it. Always worry too much.

How does everyone heat up the formula before tubing?

I thought I would post these from a while ago seeing as there are not many pics as yet. Hope you don't mind

Maybe youcan explain what it is for those who don't know.
