  1. I started making a collar last night. It's nearly done. I got tired of seeing the same old same old in collars and wanted something a little bit different. If I can figure out how to finish it! Too big for puppy at this stage, but I enjoyed the process so far, I will probably make some more. :D
  2. Great shots Bejelkier. And I'm generally not a fluffy dog person. I second Cassie, Lhok...pictures are a must! Share and share alike...afterall.
  3. That sounds like a SOLD to me, Lhok. I learnt a long time ago when it comes to puppies, never pick up what you ain't gonna buy. Cos you're gonna buy it...you try and resist...but you're lost the minute you look. :D
  4. :D Brill. (I only work a half on Fri, so sorta the weekend.)
  5. House definitely over rules Pet Expo. What breed are we crossing our fingers for? Rotts are one of those breeds that are hard not to love once you've had one. (Isn't that what we all say? :D)
  6. We were lucky with Miah, we got a few basic things with her like a purple puppy collar and her own purple bowl and few other things including her fav toy :) Im looking for a bigger collar for when she gets older, but i haven't found any nice purple ones anywhere yet Lots of pink ones, but im not a pink type girl and neither is Miah ;-) We were really disappointed in the collars we saw. I'm surprised at all the pink. We aren't pink people either. I'm even considering making my own....maybe.
  7. LOL. That could happen. We were planning for tomorrow. All being well. Unless we have to car swap, then it will be Sat.
  8. Step right in Cassie. :) I'm waiting for my rottie pup. I'm not quite as bad as Lhok, but nearly! I bought a couple of toys today. Didn't see any collars I liked. And hoping to get to the pet expo over the weekend. :D
  9. I work in a Vet Clinic. Dory usually comes most days to work, I will have to swap it around and share it between New Puppy and Dory. Which is okay with me. Because new puppy will need to learn about 'alone time' (short shifts only) and so does Dory! Actually while Willow is tiny I will still take Dory to work. Might become a bit unmanageable when Willow reaches 40kg. This privilege is one of the reasons I stay with Vet Nursing. I sure don't stay there for the exceptional pay and promotion opportunities. (Staff discount is nothing to sneeze at I suppose, but my animals are notoriously healthy to a great degree ).
  10. I can't visit mine. she's interstate. And I don't want to pester either. I can expect some piccies when they are more mobile. I did get to hold her 4 day old half sibs when I visited the breeder. And I've seen a couple of litter pics already. I thought about a blog as a distraction.
  11. My puppy is a rottweiler. So Black and Tan is automatically cute. :) My wait is a bit longer though.
  12. Cuuuuuute, Melina! Being Black and Tan helps. ;) I'm biased, tho. You must be getting more and more excited!
  13. 6 weeks to go. And yet it took no time for house inspection time to roll around. Time. You are a funny, malleable, contrary thing.
  14. I took it to mean, having a word with the owner. Rather than if they are your friend dob them in. Because if it was your friends dog you woruld have a word to them. (Probably a lot if words) If you aren't fussed about friendship you'd be more likely go straight to council.
  15. No, he sits on his haunches and gives you a high ten, but he refuses to do fives lol LOL. Dory does a magical high 10 as well. Her high 5 just doesn't gel in her head. She can sit and drop although wont stay down long. And has an awesome Beg. Heeling is an alien concept. just shuts right down.
  16. Are the codes as stringent with other animals? ie. Cats, horses, pigs etc? It all seems rather regimented. I got the impression that raw diet would be frowned upon under these codes. Not explicitly said, but that was the impression I got. Some of it doesn't seem very workable, and I can imagine puppy prices would sky rocket through the roof to allow for some of the requirements.
  17. I've realised, I'm now at a quandary. Do I change my Forum name to reflect new dog owner status? Dory & the Willow Pillow? (Yeah...new puppy will be called Willow. :D )
  18. Years ago, one of my then housemates found a strip of beef heart in her bed. Under the covers. Have no idea how Dory pulled that off without making a mess. And here I was thinking Dory had eaten it, especially as she had grabbed it from my hand and ran off with great gusto. Aside from that, purloined cat toys. And a few things she has somehow managed to levitate off the coffee table. No mean feat when you are locked in your crate and the coffee table was a decent distance away. (So I thought) Mostly junk mail, socks and even a shoe.
  19. Bjelkier, nice looking puppy. :D Little fluffsters, always remind me of the many soft toys I had as a kid (many of them were dogs. )
  20. Hi Steph, if you know what diet the puppy is being fed I would stock a bag of this food. Most good breeders will send you home with a sample, but I reckon it's better to be safe than sorry and buy a bag in for yourself. If it's not the food you plan to feed then purchase a bag of that too so you can do a slow change over. Have you worked out where puppy is sleeping? Are you going to crate train? If so...crate. Pee pads or newspaper, if you plan on the laundry/bathroom/play pen route for house training. Old towels..these are always handy no matter what. I think if you have the basic needs covered you should do fine. bowls etc. Have you got a light collar and lead? That way you can start to lead and collar train. Worming syrup or tablets...or whatever parasite prevention you plan on using. Puppies need to be wormed every 2 weeks till they are 12 weeks old. That's all I can think of at this stage. And you've jogged my mind to stay laying in the supplies myself!
  21. Never had this question. But I do get a lot of people who ask me if I want theirs! (Usually cos they are naughty, over energetic, nutters that I have admired for their cheeky devilishness [the dogs, not the owners]. )
  22. Looking good!! How did she go with waves? I'm still waiting for some puppy pics for my puppy. *sigh* Nearly two weeks down...six weeks to go.
  23. Not sure I'll be much help, but this is what I plan to do... I'll have my puppy at work too, with her own crate. I'll have her on a collar and lead for outside wee time on a regular basis. And hopefully some playtime. If she's in her crate she will be less likely to pee. From there outside with I hope a quick wee response time. Then back inside for some cuddle time, before back to her crate. I want to avoid pee mats if I can and be as close to home routine as I can. There will be plenty of people for her to socialize with and while I'm mindful of disease I also want to maximize my socialization window and get her routine underway as close to home as possible. So no pee mats here, and no pees in the building. Urine off is a good product for accidents. It's an enzyme cleaner for pet messes. I'll have her toys and treats and plan to do short training sessions between work. ;)
