  1. The other puppy was from a different breeder, Willows sister went on to Kangaroo Island. She is an AMAZING puppy. Very smart. Takes her time with new things. She's playing with tennis ball and getting more comfortable with Dory. Dory seems really pleased to have Willow. Gives her space, tries to get her to play and ignored Willow if Willow gets overwhelmed. The cats. Well. They are freaked out and cautious, but want to look too. Neither of them have tried to strike at Willow. Willow is verrrry cautious, she's freaked out about them staring at her. But she just sits with me and watches them. Pictures soon! I've been concentrating on smooth introductions first. Oh. And she is super, beautiful. Most beautifullest looking Rottie I've had. :) I want to gobble her up and kiss her to bits. :D
  2. No. Just Willow, and the pup the breeders kept will be shown. :) She's coming from Melbourne.
  3. Flight is delayed by half an hour, not too bad. I'm sitting at the freight waiting. :lol The guy said most people go to harbor town (shopping). I told him I just paid for a puppy, how much money did he think I had. :lol I have a book. And an hour half is nothing after 16 weeks of waiting. Cassie: Hubby can snuggle her anytime. That's SNuggle, not to be confused with sMuggle. ;) Hoping I get to see her litter mate while i'm here. :D
  4. You'll get used to people assuming he's a girl. Even when you say "His name is Nova" they will say "Oh isn't she sweet" and you'll say "yes, he is" and they will say "oh, a boy, sorry" and you'll smile sweetly whilst stabbing them in your head  My female pugs name is Max, I go through this regularly~ Dory gets this ALL the time, and she is a GIRL with a GIRL'S name (okay, it's a fish too  ) I think because she is scruffy and has a beard they assume boy. (Aaannnnd her constant cocking her leg on things probably doesn't help with the image either. :D ) PS....FIVE HOURS TO GO..... Thank god I'm at work, I'd be picketing the airport terminal by now.
  5. About 7 hours to go. Off to work for a busy morning now.
  6. I've been dogless for a spell, and I learnt that dispite the inconvenience at times (going on holidays etc and some restriction of coming and going); I am a much happier person for having pets in it. I don't have as freakishly neat and fur-free house as I'd like. And having pets did impact on a relationship. Actually, having pets impacted on every relationship I had. (it's not just women who think they can change their man to be the way they want them to be) On the plus side...I have met a LOT of people I would not have, if it wasn't for my pets.
  7. Puppy Breath Warning is Imminent! One restless slumber, no more sleep ins and potential cataclysmic chaos and destruction to go. But we WILL have puppy breath...the rest is of no consequence in the whiff of puppy breath. Aaaaahhhh. Puppy breath.
  8. Have those of you with toiletting issues considered the cold weather as a cause for backsliding? Princess Dory, doesn't WON'T go out if it is raining. We have to kick her out. Physically pick her up and put her outside. And then she just poops under the washing line which is under the verandah. (Willow had better not be such a Princess.)
  9. Family (not so much a hobby really) vs Dog Training/Trials etc.... My daughter volunteers as a Helper with RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association), she does it on Saturday conflicts with trials and shows. And the rest of the weekend family want to spend family time...can you imagine that...how RUDE! We are all going to be compromising...except for Saturdays. I'm pretty proud of my daughter being so community minded, I'm more than happy to foster that.
  10. We can all be newbies in the show ring together. Sounds like she will be a good showing prospect then. Any idea when your first show will be? Cassie I assume it will be a little while before you can get all the paperwork sorted out and start showing? Not sure at this stage, we'll see how her show training goes. We are thinking of the Adelaide Royal.
  11. We don't let Dory out of her crate until she quietens down. ie lays down and relaxes. So sometimes she is stuck in there for another 10-15mins after we get home. She like to push the boundaries even as a 5-ish year old dog. Ditto dinner time, if Dory is pestering for dinner she gets nothing until she lays down and relaxes. She has a really nifty trick of laying down and 'looking' like she's relaxed but you can see her quivering with every sound and movement. If I shift my feet she bolts upright thinking I'm going to feed her....nope...she has to be RELAXED. One night she was so bad we nearly went to bed without feeding her, fortunately she chilled out 10mins before bedtime and got fed. We'll be doing the same with Wilow, from scratch.
  12. whippytails, my girl is a Rottweiler. :) Only really showing because her breeder asked me if I would. I told them that if she was good enough I would...so they asked me if I was going to show. I said, Yes. I'm happy to put their name out there, and I hope that I will title her for them. I'm not interested in breeding. Initially I wanted her for obedience and that will still be my focus with shows chucked in for variety. I also think if she is that good conformationally, it would be a shame not to show her. I hope that I will be up with Cassie in the lineup.
  13. I'll be showing. Have bought nothing for shows yet. I'm waiting to see what she looks like and her personality. Plus...she's large breed, I want to make sure things will fit and last.
  14. Welcome Fairystar!! The wait for your puppy is sometimes soooo endless. Koda is VERY kissable, you just want to give him a squeeze. I have....2 SLEEPS TO GO!!! And I have to go buy some zip ties. *sigh* I forgot the zip ties. It's been really amazing going on this puppy ride and the different stages of belief/disbelief...excitement/terror....doubt/certainty....LOL. I'm in the terror, excitement, this is all a dream stage right now. I'm sure later it will just be terror and panic (am I ready? am I organise?)
  15. I'm not sure. There are moments I could happily throttle them at various times. Only to want to cuddle them the next. They are all loved equally for different reasons is probably my answer.
  16. I can't remember what my training goals for this year were...but I've taken the first step.... 1. Choose Club. Check. 2. Get a puppy with which to start from scratch. Check. Next Goals. 1. No chasing the cats. 2. Housetraining. 3. Hands and Feet are not toys. 3. Neither is any of the furniture. (or the doors, or the windows, or the screens, no digging there...you get the picture) :D On a more serious training note... 1. Focussed heeling with enthusiasm. 2. Start tracking training. 3. Learn to show stack like a star. Not necessarily in that order.
  17. Woo hoooo. I hope you had a good sleep last night! We have 3 sleeps to go. :)
  18. As far as I know it's safe. Years ago I gave it to one of my dogs, she was a large breed so you might have to check doseage. It's also, I believe a pretty good antioxidant. :D
  19. Bromelain, from chemist or health food store. It's the tablet form of the enzyme in pineapple that makes poo less attractive to the snackers.
  20. Excellent, Steph! Willow is still going to be a surprise. All I know so far is she's very nice, elegant and loves her tucker. (Shhhh...don't tell my daughter...but...I don't think I was as excited as I am now) [probably because daughter is 17, and almost growed up now]
  21. :) Puppy sleeping area...sorted....those Bunnings panels are AWESOME. I reckon I'm all covered till I need a Rottie sized crate. :D (really hoping that I can get her settled in a soft crate). Collar and Lead sorted. A small selection of toys, sorted. I do have to get her a bowl though.
  22. 4 Nights to gooooooo............. I'm off to buy some of those nifty panels from Bunnings today.
  23. 6 sleeps here! I'm working on the weekend, so that should speed things up. The weekend always whizzes past when I have to work. And tonight I'm juicing extra vegies for an extra mouth to feed. :D (And then sometime in the near future will have to invest in a small chest freezer, our dinky little fridge freezer was okay for just us and Dory)
