  1. You work in a vet clinic though don't you? So that's a bit different. I know our building management would never let dogs in. I asked when my Viz was little and got a resounding no. Most clinics I've worked for have had a no pet policy. This is the first one I've come across that have been okay with it. I feel very privileged to be able to bring Dory to work with me, it's one that could be rescinded very easily. And there is a limit.
  2. We call Dory the 'doorbell'. Sometimes we have people come to the back door when we are busy up the front. We often don't hear them knock...not a problem when Dory is 'on duty'. Everyone misses her if I haven't bought her in. And it is amazing how much we have come to rely on her warning us when someone is at the door.
  3. Hi Leah, I have a "Dory Dog" :) I also bring my dog to work. I have both Dory and Willow (9 week old pup) at work at them moment. And for a Monday, despite Willow being a MASSIVE distraction I feel pretty light hearted and now that she has crashed for a sleep (FINALLY), I intend on smashing my work in a big way. So I would say that my productivity has gone up. :D (As has my morale) But then we are a small work place and I'm the only one here right now.
  4. Willow is pretty brave. She's not fond of the neighbours dogs barking or when Dory goes off. She will hide in her safe spot inside, outside she drops her tail holds ground and plays wait and see. Original she was very wary of the cats, this is changing. So far she's still sensible with them. Haven't tried the vacuum yet. I'd be surprised if she didn't do a runner.
  5. Willow The Pirhana Puppy? LOL. She 'gets' crate time now. We get little sooks and no more howls. She's pretty persistent too. Doesn't take No very well (just ask Dory). In her Bitey moments I've been trying to do some basic exercises to channel it more constructively. But the clever bugger figures a treat in the hand is not worth an attempt on the treat bowl. She's loves exploring new places, boldly. :D
  6. Koda...What a cute fuzz ball! Willow is starting to realize that the, "You're killing me" howling doesn't work, neither does soulful whining. But quiet, attentive, cherub face does. :D
  7. Our first toy casualty and it wasn't Willow who destroyed it. Dory has never been particularly interested in toys. At best you could get a quick 5 minute frenzied tug game from her before she'd walk off leaving you to you're own devices. Since we have had Willow this has changed a little bit. She likes to steal Willow's toys, especially when Willow wants them, then sneaks off and does this. Monkey Tug was the guranteed toy to get Willow to stop biting, and now he has gone to toy heaven. Off to buy another one....or a dozen.
  8. My No Puppy rule didn't even last past the first afternoon. LOL We now have a Pirhana Puppy. And boy is she quick! Nearly had a nose pierce, ear pierce, gobs of hair almost ripped out and my hands and forearms are shredded. Training is going to start tomorrow. I was going to give a little more time to settle, but I think we can assume she's settled. LOL
  9. Lord. That is so adorable. I'm definitely getting a Frenchie when I'm too old for Rotts.
  10. Melina, I did weigh up taking her in. I figured it was probably no more dangerous than me walking in there without her and then coming home. Willow weighs 6.5 kilo's...it made shopping a challenge...
  11. Well I guess I should be posting in this thread now. :) Miss Willow had her first morning at work this morning. She walked in like she owned it, and then howled the place down when I had to put her in a cage. She really doesn't like being penned or crated...but that's tough for her! Dory is equal parts playful and good to grumpy and growly. Willow pretty much ignores her! (Dory has an IMPRESSIVE set of teeth when she bares them). Willow is still very unsure of the cats and one of the cats is still very unsure of her. I hope they work it out soon, because Willow is not going to get any smaller. At least the older cat will sit in the same room as Willow, up high, but he is in the same room. Bungee the younger cat is like a black shadow ghost that haunts the furtherest areas of the house, as far from Willow as she can get. Went to the closest PetBarn yesterday to get her some more toys and then collected her at the checkout when I went to pay for her stuff. I think every staff member had a snuggle with her. It was a nice opportunity to talk to one of th staff about looking for a good breeder. I just love her so much. And I love Dory too! I'm so happy with the way Dory is okay with a new puppy in the house, even if sometimes she is a grumpy old bag.
  12. Willow came to work today. She loved it all except the bit where she had to go in a cage. And did she Hooooowwwll. My boss was very impressed with her quality. I just told him... Hey, I'm not mucking around here. :D So we are waiting for Jack now?
  13. Hehe...been there. Willow has come right out of her shell. Loads if howling and whining last night.
  14. Yay finally oh she is devine. can I be nosey and ask pedigree??? look forward to watching her grow. beware they are like chips can't stop at one IMO rofl :D Sure Emery. :) She's from Blickscharf Kennels. Her dad is NRCA & Aust. Ch. Obershchoen Black Ash, her mum is Blickscharf Sascha. She sure is beautiful, I'm looking forward to watching her grow too. I feel very blessed and honoured that her breeders thought I was worthy of such a fantastic looking dog. Her temperament is looking pretty awesome too. :D
  15. The single most? A happy, active, interesting life. But I think everything together adds too. Genetics, nutrition, activity etc.
  16. that is a full schedule! You'll be exhausted by the time you get back to work next week. Willow is sound asleep at my feet, Dory is on the other lounge asleep and one of the cats (Oscar the older one) is snoozing with Dory. Poor Bungee (younger cat about 6mths) is STILL throwing a pouty and refuses to come closer to look at Willow. I think she's not happy about having competition in the cute stakes. Willow is still cautious about the cats, this is a good thing. I'm hoping that it means everyone will just mesh together with no naughty puppies chasing cats. I should be doing some housework while she sleeps. Instead I'm on the computer while I have a window of time when the power cord is safe from little teeth. She's already got herself stuck behind and under the couch at least once this morning. She figured out to get out the second time, but she didn't do it easily.
  17. Willow watches TV, when she's not trying to find mischief or whining at me to lift her on the couch...or whining at me to pick her up. Or whining at me cos the cats are scary, or burying herself in my wool and crochet stash. Dory has been a growly old bag this morning. *sigh* I think I might be taking a few car rides just to keep Willow entertained.
  18. I don't want to make everyone jealous...but..... I went to bed early last night with trepidation. Willow had had a big sleep and I thought for sure she'd keep me awake most of the night. NOPE! :D She slept through the whole night and woke me up after a solid 8-9 hours sleep. I thought for sure she'd peed in her crate as the only explanation (aside from her being a LEGEND). Guess what? She's a LEGEND. A dry crate. She's very busy this morning.
  19. Dory has been so good, so far. When Willow was feeling a little bit overwhelmed by Dory, Dory would back off and walk away or act disinterested. Now we just have to make sure Dory doesn't play so rough! We have had a little bit of resource guarding (me), Dory has now learnt that that ain't on and we are all good again. Did I mention I'm a bit in love with Willow?
  20. It didn't take her long to find the tennis balls (or my shoe laces. ) I'm so besotted. I've completely rejigged my "no big dogs on the furniture rule"....she's snoozing on the couch next to me. So tired, she didn't even try to steal my dinner. I didn't expect to feel so clucky about a puppy like I am about Willow.
  21. Isn't she bewdiful?:love::love: I'm trying to resize another one, but this one should hold you over. We've had a poo in the house already (this is what happens when 17yrs are on puppy duty). The cats have finally decided a new puppy ain't so bad. HAH...What till tomorrow when she's more comfortable. And Dory continues to think she pretty neat too. :D
