  1. Willow and a turkey neck. We're not too fussed about bone breath here. Cat poo breath, that's a different story. Video of Willow and her Turkey Neck
  2. Willow went a bit iffy with her food for a couple of weeks, it was so frustrating! She'd sit and look at it for about 15mins before she would nibble at it, all the while with Dory and Bungee (cat) staring at her like, "Are you going to eat that nice tasty chicken wing? Cos if not, we'll have it." The look on her face was like I was feeding her the worst garbage. (yeah, chicken wings and nice fresh vegies with fresh chicken mince [adelaide pets, very good quality!], or nice fresh meaty lamb bones etc.) She has NO problems with her appetite at the moment. Quite the opposite, she's usually pushing me for her meals now. (Although I can do less with the bashing at the kitchen door thanks! Full body, Rottie blows...AWESOME.)
  3. Frozen bones here. Roo and lamb lumbars. Massive turkey necks. She's not interested in anything else unless its forbidden or cardboard.
  4. All I can say is.....Thankgod for Raw Meaty Bones!!! When Willow is in her frenzied, bash everything to bits modes we bung her in the crate with a 'busy' bone to chew. At first I felt bad, thinking I was doing what a lot of mum's do, shut the kid up with food...but sometimes you just got to tuck them away to get things done. Today I think it has been reaping benefits, she's working out if you aren't hyper active you can stay out longer. I've even had CUDDLES!!! When it's stopped raining, I'm going to take her out and do some other training with her. (That should wind her up nicely. )
  5. OMG! He IS a Bear! He looks like a real Love too.
  6. Treble is an EXCELLENT name. So happy for you Lhok. 37kg at six months...that is HUGE! Can't wait for piccies.
  7. I've had a dog attacked by a Guide dog too! This is going back a lot of years, but I was mortified and embarrassed. It happened on a crowded street, I had my dog heeling next to me quite close and the Guide dog lunged across and grabbed him. Made an awful noise, no damage done. But no one believed me! It was awful. I actually thought that it was a rare thing. I've not really told anyone about it, because the usual reaction is..."That's impossible, it's a GUIDE dog. They are trained." Well, I thought so too, till it happened.
  8. Apparently Willow is as quiet as a mouse until she hears the car in the driveway.
  9. On average, I get till 7.30am regardless of what time we went to bed. Occasionally I get 8am, but it's been earlier than that for so long that I'm long awake by then. Some mornings I'm waking her up at 6am as I start early at work. She used to be up before I finished my bathroom time, but lately I get bleary eyed pup who thinks it's insane to be up that early. Watching her walk around the yard half asleep as she toilets makes me smile evilly to myself for some reason. (bwa ha ha ha). The other day I was just so tired from a hectic few weeks that I decided I was going back to bed no matter what she thought. I was quietly (and snoozily) impressed that she settled and then I woke her up at 9.30am. (the decadence!!!). Training mornings we are both up half asleep wondering at the insanity of early mornings in winter and the prospect of wet feet.
  10. I'm trying to find a training vest. No idea where to look and ofcourse I have a budget. Especially as we have to upgrade our crate size soon. She still fits in Dory's crate at this stage, but having two crates would be most useful at times. And then there is the soft crate I want to get, cos it's easier on the back when going to trials, training or shows. And a you beaut training harness..... I didn't think I had a wish list until this week, now look at it! It grows daily.
  11. They are all starting to turn into Big Dogs now. (big cute dogs). We weighed Willow the other day and she was even with Dory, weighed her the next day...how the heck do they put on 800g in a day???!!! So now she weighs more than Dory. We have fly away ears at the moment too...aka...ridiculous ears.
  12. Just amazes me how many people fail to register their dogs with the council (it shouldn't). Was the first thing we did with Willow. Actually the first thing we did was to ring the council to see if we were permitted another dog, double checked, then got her and then registered her. Even the Indoor Only cats are microchipped. Such a simple thing really and one of the least expensive things about owning a pet and the very, very basic of identification methods.
  13. Yep, all dog food runs by me before being given to the dogs. Cat feeding is responsibility of the teenager...and sometimes that shows.... However, she is now regulating them better and understands measuring is important and they are much trimmer these days.
  14. With a puppy in the house keeping Dory trim has required some fiddling. I admit to feeling bad when Willow gets a meal that Dory normally wouldn't. So Dorys meals are broken into tiny portions or she gets more veggies. There is some tidbit feeding, but meals are altered accordingly. I am often baffled by people's inability to measure and maintain healthy weights on pets. Even more baffled when they can't see their morbidly obese pets. Fat pet is one thing, but animals many times the average weight?
  15. Willow is a stubborn head, rather than back talking she just feels she should try harder to achieve what you have asked her to leave alone. As I tell people, she has the stubbon of a 2 year child that just her No. Fortunately, like most 2 year olds, she can be bought. Busy Bones (Raw Meaty Bones eg. Roo tail, lamb neck, frozen or partially frozen) are our friends.
  16. Willow has never been what I would call a cuddly puppy. She does come over and sit next to me if she finally realises she is tired. (or when we are in the freezing cold and I'm sitting on the back step waiting for her to wee or poo, she likes to sit with me in companionable silence then...when she should be toileting!) She LOVES me when I have toast. She greets my daughter more enthusiastically than me. But she is with me a lot. She's a pretty active (adhd) puppy, always looking for mischief, but she is responsive if I want to do training with her. I figure when she's done being a puppy she'll be more willing for cuddles..maybe... We have Dory for cuddles anyway...she NEVER refuses. Willow does check in with me from time to time and does seem aware of where I am, even when she's busy. And this morning I snuck a few pats and tickles while she was busy playing with Dory (another reason I don't think she's a cuddly pup...she has Dory to entertain her, poor Dory).
  17. Lots of giggles here....especially the Diary Entry about Cats....
