I was browsing the grooming sites (o/s) and one type of dematting comb is mentioned highly...matt zapper. Apparently it is quite effective in saving coat and makes the removal of a matt less stressing to the dog than traditional methods. Any ideas on this product? Is it avail here in Aus?

I use Paintshop Pro...I find it user friendly and I have learnt alot through tutorials. I want to try PS...for further techniques. In the main part Paintshop is good value for money if you dont want to commit to the $ of PS...which was a consideration in my case.

Please Report Pesticide Toxicity To....

Hello Im not sure if this is the posting place (confused by prev replies) anyway I was wanting to post about the product Advantix. A fellow breeder of poodles used this product on her three dogs. All had a reaction. Minor symptoms were general unwellness and the dogs feeling like "they had ants crawling all over their body". One of the dogs even suffered a burn reaction to the application area. The manufacterer was contacted...they offered reimbursement for product. Apparently general opinion is swf are prone to such a reaction to this product. Interesting but I believe it must be more widespread. If this is the wrong thread pls move to appropriate thread. Damage & hair loss Regrowth (very slow and not healthy) -
For a childrens picture book series of Ralph. His name could be up there with Hairy Maclary from Donaldson dairy!!!!

Jealousy...i Dont Want It To Be A Curse
redangel replied to redangel's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Ok then.spoilt brat syndrome...I have always had dogs that would be happily chucked into a group of dogs without as much as a problem...how do you stop this so called spoilt brat syndrome???????????? What does 'taking him down a few pegs" actually involve? What can I advise this owner to do?????? Oh and for the record..".Let dogs sort it out themselves " doesnt mean allowing fights, just merely allowing the dogs to develop their own social hierachy ...in my experience though human is no.1 the dogs do have a set order in which they fufil in the pack. -
What a great challenge this has been. Fantastic to all of you! I wish I could have had a go, but Ive just caught up as my son blew my broadband limit (20g) and ive had less than dial up conditions.

Jealousy...i Dont Want It To Be A Curse
redangel replied to redangel's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I considered it jealousy as it is apparent he is showing it when the owner shows affection to my dog. Her dog is resenting my girl sharing the owners bed, will get up and growl if my girl gets on the lady's lap for affection. The two of them play with eachother just fine...as long as the owner isnt involved they are the best of friends. I understand that dogs do not truly have emotions like jealousy (thats a human thing) and it is more about pack position. Generally it is not just my dog but any dog this lady pats gets the same treatment. She has socialised him, he is doing obedience. So if you term it aggression...what is the solution??? BTW my girl is due home tomorrow. It was a cold 2 dog night last night and my bed was down a dog. ....its been only a week so im sure all is ok. -
Jealousy...i Dont Want It To Be A Curse

Hi all. Through circumstances I have had to board my 3yrold bitch with a lady who many years ago bought a puppy off me. She has in the last year purchased a puppy off another breeder. He is now 12 months and despite sharing his home with a 10yrold dog is insanely jealous of my girl. He rushes her and growls at any opportunity to get the submissive response. My girl is very easy going so lets him have his way. The lady in the future acknowledges that her old dog will pass on and will most likely replace it. Though I tend to lend to the idea of dogs sorting out dog rules is there any intervention that would ease the tension??? She doesnt want to encourage this antisocial behavior. -
Run free Sammy. Your value exceeded all pedigees...it was in the love you gave and in the hearts of those who loved you. Safe journey little one.

At 12 weeks my local vet diagnosed my little poodle girl with a heart murmur. Wanting to know how what why (and what future she had) I went to a cardiac specialist. They recommended ultrasound to get an idea of structure, flow and appearance of the heart. On her first visit she was diagnosed a 1-2. All was structually fine and no abnormalities were detected..but yes she had a murmur there. After 6 months we repeated the ultrasound and the same result was given. Prognosis was good (the heart was structually sound) and there was no change, she could resume her future in agility and live a full life. No recommended treatment. At first I was disappointed at spending $$ to get no answer, but I did....I got the answer I wanted my girl was going to be just fine! They put it down to a freak occurance, she was healthy but different. I wanted to rule out defects and such for the breeders sake as well. I recommend to anyone to have the proceedure to gain as much knowlege to help your canine friend live a full life.
