How tragic...I know the heartbreak of losing 2 dogs so close together. Remember the good times with Dolly- noone can change what has been. RIP Dolly, find peace at rainbow bridge.

Yes I have had a dog I intensely disliked. She was a poodle(3mths) not unlike my other poodles, but was headstrong,very hard to train and seemed to attract trouble. I could never hate a dog, but this one used to test me in the patience department. I blamed me, I blamed her, I tried to rehome her (fully explaining to a prospective owner why she just wasn't fitting in) but noone who applied was to my liking. That dog and I lived together for 11yrs...she was my shadow and once we found our 'common place" grew to be my blessed companion. Basically all my friends knew this little dog lived to make me happy. And she did.

Good point, I do this but was never advised to do so. Dxenion, with a point and shoot that may be possible but with a heavier slr, not so. I have when desperate enlisted a child to hold an umbrella over me....

I have never taken my camera to the beach or in the rain....the latter though saddens me as I just love being out in it! Thank you for all your input everybody, god food for thought...rain is going to be a bit of a subject this year I feel...

Wow.. I treat my camera like a ming vase...especially since I tripped with it in my hands...water on my camera scares me. I am currently researching camera raincover...for hydrophobic camera owners...as BNC recommended. Maybe I worry too much?

My friend bought me a tripod to encourage me to put me in the photograph....I think I can save the world from that! I wish I was as confident & creative to do as you do TN.

I avoid wet days like plague when out with my camera....is there a way of capturing photos without putting your camera at risk???? I love rainy days...I often use my PNS when the weather looks bad...

My favorite dogs Ive owned in the past have been a border collie, kelpie & a dobermann. My family always had an always inside dog...a poodle. I would dearly love to have a bigger working breed, but unfortunately through divorce I am in the rental market, and finding a placement that allows big dogs is hard. Thus I chose a poodle. Benefit also is that they are equally as smart, dont shed or have 'wet dog' smell'. The only drawback is that I am not fond of being judged as a prissy dog owner...my poodles are as much dog as other dogs.
