Do you think he'd have stabbed the dog if it had left him alone? There are plenty of people out there who are scared of dogs. This wasn't a small dog. Why make your dog a target for any human aggression by allowing it to approach stangers? Playing the legal arguments out, if this dog "rushed" the person, that's technically enough for a DD declaration. All TOTALLY preventable. That's the point I'm trying to make. MY only comments here is that the reaction was "over the top". I would be concerned as to why someone would be armed with a knife in public (for what reason & motive)and why the owner was then assaulted? I take offense at the "wasnt a small dog" statement....if it was a sweet white fluffy would that mean the opinion stated here would differ??? Personally I fear smaller dogs biting me than larger dogs but ALL dogs have the potential to bite! (If I had a dollar for every judgement made on a dogs potential /threat based on size/breed id be rich)

I think hes a real beauty, born from obviously a love affair between breeds....and what gorgeous eyes.

Do any of you have an opinion on fx to dx? Am I missing much not having a fx camera??? I have seen reviews online for the 24-70 seems a great landscape/streetscape lens ( correct me if Im wrong) I use my 50mm 1.4 80% of the time, my macro 105mm 2.8 20% of the time...would use my 70-200 kit lens more (was good for events) but the images are too soft for me focus wise these days. edit to add: I think Ive got it down to 2 lenses: my fav at the moment the nikkor12-24

I have been given a small sum of money which brings bad memories to me (estate) but my friend says I should turn it into something positive: something that gives me pleasure. Naturally a lens might be just that. I currently have 18-55 (5.6) 70-200 (3.5-5.6) and my favorite 50mm 1.4. Using for people, dog watching, places, hiking (birds and stuff) what should I look towards. I use my 50 +++ times as I love the clarity. I have a dedicated macro also. Would love a genuine nikon lens (assuming they are better). I havent anything in the 24-70mm, nor longer than 200mm. Any ideas???? I have put off accepting the money as it brings me upset, but perhaps my friend is right.

I often read of people encountering weird or plain stupid dog owners and thank dog I never meet these people. Now I really know how much I meant that. I go to my front bin in my driveway to put out some rubbish and I get bailled up by three Jack russell x Foxie derivatives. Their hackles were not raised but should i have given them signal I was intimidated they may have upped the ante. I take exception at being hounded by rushing dogs on my property! Then comes another foxie cross(aka no.4)...again rushing and barking, I note that her teats are swinging, she obviously is feeding pups. Then I see the puppy (about 5 wks) sitting in my garden bed I scoop it up and look down the street. here comes a rambling man (ethnic european) who tells me his dogs will not bite! I tell him in plain English that I take exception to them roaming free and coming onto my property...and whats more the pups (yes there was another one)out roaming defies all intelligence. He reminds me that I have little knowledge of dogs and starts insulting me! I remind him that it is also legal requirement to have effective control : he retorts he is , and likens himself to a poor mans Caesar Milan. His theory is ...and I quote "adultery and robbery are against the law but it still happens" He took great exception to being confronted by a mere"female" . The man is plainly short a few roos in the top paddock and even more so has a loud opinion for one so few of braincells. Add that to irresponsible and BYB and I think Ive met all types in the one person at the one time! So for the next bad dog owner story I read...all I can say is "I Believe" ***Sigh***

Hugh Wirth is being a wee bit hypocritical her perhaps? Most likely as a vet student he honed his skills in a similar manner? He works at an organisation that considers its decisions and policies all equate to that of all the general public's view (which I believe to be a inaccurate assumption)and personally should you take on board some of the examples of alleged mismanagement , well there are probably more pressing issues. As the animals are treated humanly, are humanly euthanized before waking and in some ways contributed to develop future vets who use their skills to further the lives of our loved companions Id hardly call it waste. What they do & learn is hardly as trivial as a rat dissection in high school. Such animals are not pre chosen for this proceedure as they arrive at the shelter. Personally you need to realise that not everything can be learned in books. Next time you go to get your pet desexed, and say you can choose (hypothetically) between a grad that has learned from a book or has completed several speys in this manner....consider this. Furthermore your surgeon in the public system tells you that he is happy to do your procedure but acknowledges that outside of texts this will be his first surgery. Nervous much? Oh and yes some animals are allowed to wake up from the procedure and are often adopted by students/their family. OP you need to consider the many LIVE animals who live a long miserable existance being owned by people who care little for their welfare of quality of life. Puppy Farms might be a good start......these poor animals live a hellish life & death would be an escape to some of the conditions they exist in. Now thats worth shedding a tear over.

I looked at the Adobe link and well Im confused. In lightroom, you open file- do edits, export as you wish eg jpeg. Is PS not as straight forward?? My boss said when he opened up his RAW files in adobe they were pixellated??? Only when put in jpeg file (2.5mb) could he view them. Of course no edits were done. As I have never used PS I cant understand why image should be pixellated? Was his Junior (who knows all apparently) doing something wrong???? In the Jnrs opinion all pics were poor quality and not of use! What?????? Never had any issues processing RAW in LR. Looking for input as he is just going to be likely to ask me if I know whats going on.
-
Thanks Huga , I acknowledge LR does it but Im looking to see if the other programs do it ...my boss asked me and I couldnt answer. he is running Adobe PS I believe.
-
Can someone explain to me (as I use LR) do PS & Creative Suite have a RAW conversion or do you have to use a separate program????

First my internet kicks out, then changes at work meant going back full time for a bit.....so forgive me for my lateness. 15/52 Rosie trying to stare something off the bench & into her mouth. 16/52 Rosie is facinated by socks. She usually carries one sock around from room to room , somewhat like a comforter. They can be any color, but the flouro pink one is a definite favorite...she beds down with it. If she wants attention, you get given a sock. If you dont close your bedroom door like my teenager, she will wake you with a sock...(often old & from your from your floor he has found out ) In my house if you are rated by whether Rosie thinks enough of you to share a sock.
