  1. Was this thread started for promoting the fact this dog is for sale currently??? What gives? Why are you selling her ?? here My thinking this is not inline with the rules of the forum, could be wrong.
  2. Sounds like he might be a feral/dumped kitty thats found himself hit by a car whilst scavenging carpark for food perhaps. Are his rear claws showing evidence of shredding? If he some feeling there is hope, the vet can administer treatment to help alleciate swelling and reassess the condition. Poor mite. Sounds like life has dealt him a bad hand.
  3. Poor form on behalf of the vet you called who refused to attend...was that your regular vet???? Having worked for several years as a vet nurse I know often in certain areas vets are reluctant to come out for unknown clients due to being "stood up" etc...but you are more likely in better hands should you have a regular vet. Glad kitty is improving, as a person who doesnt drive with 2 kids I understand your predicament. Im blessed to have several friends who have in the past come to rescue me at odd hours due to veterinary needs. Hopefully you will have the opportunity in the morning (all going well ) to see your regular vet. Kitty at least has shelter, fluid & warmth until then.
  4. If he was in shock wouldnt it be better to get some electrolytes & medication into him to combat it? If he was HBC surely hed need medical attention? Good on you for taking him, I just was a bit concerned you didnt seek medical evaluation.
  5. As for advertising, I think that the rescue thread is good because it is a humble reminder that no dog born into the word (papered or otherwise) despite the best efforts of the breeder/owner is immune from finding itself in rescue, breed or otherwise. It is not harmful to acknowledge this. Why should this be put under the blanket of a closed forum? Like a bad program on a good channel you can choose to look/partake or not...one doesnt stop watching for televison because of a program they dont approve of. There are threads/topics allover DOL that can be emotive and cause disagreement...many get closed promptly..but there are guidelines for the control of such topics discussed. I dont mind seeing the activity of a rescue group noted by name because it acknowledges the hard work and current actions of the group. To me it is reassurance a group actually puts the work into its terms as a rescue. In my time working at dog shelters on a volunteer basis there like all places using volunteer help going to be the "popular" volunteers (of self promotion) that serve to pass the dirty work onto other less considered, but as hardworking volunteers....would it stop me from helping no: because I am not there to be esteemed just to do my best. Likewise situations arise where certain volunteers go outside of guidelines:with the differing situations in rescue sometimes one has to think/operate outside the square to get things done. I think that as long as the animal is not put at risk I can understand that. I know of one organization that has strict publicized guidelines that doesnt always allegedly act upon the best interests of animals concerned to my interpretation. Ive seen it in the shelter I volunteered at once, I was saddened but not discouraged. I think view rescue forum as one of hope, not just of sadness. There are slices of disagreement in all areas of a public forum. Sometimes I think life is down to the "let he who hath no sin cast the first stone" aka deep breath &put yourself in the other persons shoes before criticizing.
  6. Well the night went well. I wasn't overall about happy about grain in some of the shots. My first impression was "Oh great"-hall was filled with florescent light with banana yellow diffusers!!!! So everyone to the eye looked jaundiced before I took to them with a camera!!! Took some test shots before people came in to best allow for this. Then the area where the speech was made from had a big white screen/slideshow behind it. Next challenge! Then the lights went off and the disco lights went on! Strobes, lasers and a really annoying light strobe that put orange/green dots all over the room. LOL!!! Overall not too bad but I am not so confident as not to get stressed with the differing conditions....I need to learn to control the situation :)
  7. What a lovely girl, how did she get her name?
  8. As a poodle person I see the funny side to this one! Ive seen in overseas forums that the "fox" cut is very popular amongst Pom owners. Not sure if id be sporting in the English countryside though. Do lions wag their tail? Might be a giveaway if they stay long enough to let him get close
  9. No such thing as "just" a horse pic. They are truly beautiful animals. I am very partial to your buckskin WnH :)
  10. Thanks Huga My upgrade is coming in July-Aug(financially)so until then Im stuck with a camera that struggles in lower lighting settings. Thanks for the info re: native iso. I will look at sample shots. Its seems such a big jump from 800 to 1600 which is why I was hanging on the 1000 mark!
  11. Almost near always :) (occasionally with +jpeg as well for reference) like to play safe with differing light values (incandescent/fluro)and also try to keep my iso levels lower...I try not to go beyond 1000 if I can help it....when I get the new camera Im hoping my iso range will widen.
  12. I vote offer to take the dog, have it desexed and if you cant rehome personally a rescue group may be an option. At least if you have it during its convalescence you can give the group an idea of temperament etc...I only hope your friend knows how to persevere with human babies when they get a bit unruly as they grow, rehoming isnt easily sought in those instances!
  13. Love it the aspect lets you know how small lizzy is in the big world.
  14. Thanks everyone for your replies, it gives me an idea about whether my concerns were valid or not, seems like I was on the right track. Thankfully there is no pressure on me (other than what I put on myself). I admire professionals that do weddings and such, its a job they love (stress they can handle)I love their work & proudly say Id never want to do it. I got into photography for enjoyment, not employment.
  15. Yep, the dreaded table shots! I remember a family restaurant chain I used to go to as a child used to have these as a "service". I dont like them because they are totally staged, the people on the ends look "wrong". My only description is that I need to record everyone who is there on the night. Thankfully once they are out the way I can do candid shots! I have speedlights and was hoping that I could get away with my 50mm 1.4, its my favorite lens. I have used her 70-200 indoors once before and I am not confident of the light factor. I used her 18-120mm f4 last week for a play and it doesnt crisp up in poor lighting. It does ok, but im not so confident. Right now Im like, why do I say yes to these things! Im sure there are going to be other photographs taken but she wants to ensure everyone makes the scrapbook and she is free to enjoy the night.
  16. Doing a favor for a friend...taking shots a an anniversary celebration. So plenty of people chatting drinking & dancing. Speeches a toast and cake cutting. What lens? Indoor event at night. Of avail lens to be provided for me: vr50mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8vr, 18-105 not vr, 18-55mm. Any ideas on choice here? Likely to be up five people in frame (at tables) so Im hoping for not too much distortion or focus issues. Basic dx camera. Dont really want to be changing lens all night as i intend to take advantage of an open bar and catch up with faces I know. :)
  17. How cute is that! That lizzie worked it for the lens!
  18. Im so sorry to hear this, I was thinking about your Lola when I was at work, logged on to find out that she has passed away. Hugz to you at this most upsetting time. RIP Lola

  20. Stunning scenery...I have NZ in my 'things to see before I croak list" Just beautiful.
  21. I hope all goes well with this surgery. How scared you must feel. Such a situation as a bone stuck can create alot of problems that cant be anticipated pre surgery....fingers crossed the guarded prognosis is updated soon to a better one. Hoping all goes well for you & Lola.
