  1. I tried her on minced steak.. thinking it was less fatty than hamberger mince - but she turned her nose up.. so I wont be getting that again. Nik's a garbage guts and eats just about everything, so trialing new food for Darmah has been easy, we have had to seperate them at tea time tho, Darmah was trying to pinch Nik's & she wont eat out of the little ones dish. I'll keep trying new things, but certainly will consider food for them differently now. Cheers Heaps..
  2. Very cool, Thanks. Yeah the first thing we did when we got her home was worm her... she loves food.. which has prooving to be handy for training... I tried her on lamb flaps on the weekend - between that and Kindney's... She seemed to fill up.. I also gave her a Lamb shank, raw, she was quite happily chewing on that for most of the night. It's quite funny to see such a little dog running around with such a big bone... she took it everywhere with her, then when she'd had enough she burried it.. Guess she picked that bit up from Nik.. Thanks Heaps for the advise on food... most places tell you to cook their meat and that mince, rice, or pasta is a good thing... I have been trying a bit of everything..
  3. yeah.. he said like a small handfull of raw hamberger mince.. I must admit I have been naughty, she's been having what Nik has (cooked chicken & Lamb mince, brown rice & vegies) becuase she turned her nose up at the hamberger mince and went straight for Nik's stuff.. so they have been getting the same. I know it sounds like a stupid question, but Nik burries what ever food she cant eat, Darmah just keeps eating... hollow legs..
  4. How much should a pup eat? Darmah's 12weeks old, and a barrel! she has a small handfull of kibble in the morning, bits and peices during the day while OH is training with her then her meat meal of a night time... she is always on the scab for more.. PS: My concern is that if I let her eat until she cant fit another thing, she will just keep eating because it's there not becuase she's hungry. I thought I was giving her enough..
  5. We just paid $1000 for our girl... the breeder was really helpful when it came to my mountain of questions.. Every penny well spent I think. I spent 3 months reseaching the breeders and the breed.
  6. Fanuilos, are all of your Shep's white? Nik's Mother is a white.
  7. Darmah found one of Nik's bones yesterday afternoon burried under the boat, Nik was quite happy to wait until the little one was sone with it. We have found that Darmah does seem to follow Nik rather than respond to calls or commands..(as with Clyde's baby) so we have ellected to leave nik on her rug in the house while we try to teach Darmah. Nik does like the time alone. Nik tends to seperate us from Darmah if a gruff voice is used, she walks between us, so it's easier to leave her to have some peice and quiet inside. The little darlings have been playing of the night time after we go to bed, it normally starts about 3am.
  8. very true... I can see it being one of those quirky things Darmah picks up from her... Cheers
  9. I have another question... I took Nikki in from a pretty horrific childhood, it took me a VERY long time for her to trust me. She's great with other animals (except our chickens) and loves people.. but one habit she had that I just cant seem to break is she burries her food... when she's had enough or doesnt want it straigh away she burries it all around the yard... She burries my shoes if I leave them out, but I figured that was her way of telling me she wanted to come with me not be left at home... but the food thing has always concerned me. Is there something I can do about this given that she's now 8 years old?
  10. I'll get some photo's together shortly of the girls.. Thank you for your advise... I think Craig (partner) could benifit from a bit of pre school too... He has never been around puppies before and Nik loves her walks along the river.. Cheers!
  11. I actually never thought of it that way.. I was only thinking that I have had Nik since she was 15 months old and have always taken her most places with us and didnt want her to be left out or made to feel left out.. Thank you for your input.. it makes alot of sence and I agree - as agile and energetic as Nik is, she will need a break.
  12. We have recently (yesterday) bought home a new baby, a 12 week old Staffy named Darmah, she is beautliful... Our 8 year old Sheppard named Nikki and her get along really well... We want to take Darmah to Puppy Pre School but I was wondering what age you start at and what the chances of them being able to do it together were? We dont want Nik to get upset with Darmah going off in the car and play group without her.. Dont get me wrong, Nik doesnt need pre school, she has the most wonderful nature and brilliant personallity, we just dont want to cause upset with the two of them... where one goes, we all go..
