would it be possible to take him to the park and put him on a long (say 10m) lead so he can have a run but not take off. long leads are good for practicing recall too. though im not sure how this would go with teaching him to walk nice. maybe have him on the long lead at the park and then the short lead for walking lessons on the way home once he's had some run arounds? Im no trainer, but this seems to work with my girl who is bonkers. ETA. I also do triangle of temptation with her.

I know a couple of years ago VIP Petfoods did puppy agility at yatala http://www.vippetfoods.com.au/dogclub/classes/PUPPY+GYM/ there isnt any of the jumping etc involved mainly tunnels, mazes etc and some tricks and general obeidience sessions. i have taken a pup there, i found it quite good, thought it was a little pricey though.

yes my jrt has killed even indestructible toys. i will not allow him near the horse ball, imo it would be gone in a second. we buy cheap basket balls from bW or OH has a canics work shop. the bushes they put in springs in cars last along time. we have lots. ask the local canic to save you some, they bounce well too! best is the free price tag yeah mine has a basket ball ($5 from kmart) she cant get her teeth around it, your amstaff may be able to though. this is the first site i came across for bushes they are really hard rubber things http://www.superflex.co.uk/

just some ideas. cable reels, non splintering branches (like off palms), sand pits and pools, empty milk bottles, old car tyre (can also hang it like a swing, tyre places have to pay to dispose of them). I give this sort of stuff to my little destroyer it mostly survives and when it doesnt no biggie as it was mostly free or cheap.

I am wanting to start herding with my girl. when we have taken her to the farm she has made freinds with the cows etc but I have no idea how to teach her herding so am looking for a club around mackay or sarina.

my pup was VERY mouthy i tried correction words, replacing my hand with something she could chew and also ignoring her. None of these approaches made any difference ( at least not on my pup, im sure they do on some others) we ended up doing what a trainer suggested (after she 'bit' the trainer) whenever she bit to shove your hand that she was biting further into her mouth with out saying anything so that she associated bighting us with unpleasentness. I wasn't a fan of how this sounded and felt like the worst owner ever when i did it, BUT within 2 days she learned and it is VERY rare that she will bite us now. Im sure some people wont agree with this method and thats ok, I also understand that it might not be suitable for all dogs, but after the more traditional methods didnt work for us this one did. ETA: only push your hand into the mouth until she backs off it. once she backed off i would offer her my hand again and when she licked iot or was gentle she would get rewarded.

i like the crystal ones sas, and they're cheaper than the silver. but its sort of pointless since your only allowed 7 digits max for the phone number...

chevy did MASSIVE stinky poos and lots of bum burps when he was on it. also (to much info coming) his poo's looked just like soaked supercoat.

just also thought... basenji's dont bark, but im not sure of their excercise requirements and how they go in an apartment... but maybe another breed to look into

not sure where you are but check out the GAP website in my sig. there is heaps of info in there. greys are great with kids as they are more likely to walk away than growl or snap if the child does something it doesnt like. also if you go through the greyhound adoption program they will match a dog that is suited to your situation eg. cat safe. greys also dont need much exercise as they were bred for sprinting so dont have the stamina that alot of other dogs have. they also dont tend to be barkers. the link in my sig is for the QLD GAP but it still has heaps of info and the links to other states adoption programs too. if you've got any greyhound questions feel free to ask!

The GAP hounds get Big Dog and seem to love it. It looks to be good quality. Im thinking of switching chev onto it as well, if i can find a supplier near me.

my guy gets nutro choice large breed maintenance, with cooked mince, pasta, and grated carrot. i usually cook the pasta in stock for some extra flavor. he also gets chicken necks or carcasses.
