Ok so I went to the Camera Clinic and they can fix for $350 and have it back to me in 1-2 weeks. Its the shutter that needs replacing. Much better than my first quote!! PC I did call shutterbox and the guy was lovely but I couldnt make it there before he closed. He was very helpful over the phone though. I figured I would just stick with CC as Im not sure how much cheaper he could do it for if any. Thanks for the reccomendation though. kja its a friend who asked me to take photos of her little girl some time. It happened to be her birthday this weekend so I offered to go along and take some snaps. She said she would want to pay me so we worked out something we were both happy with. She is more than happy for me to wait until my camera is fixed. I hardly call it accepting an assignment (granted I didn't say what it was for in my post )and I never rely on the kindness of strangers. I didnt ask anyone to offer me their camera, I was just having a winge. There just happen to be some lovely dolers that wanted to help me out. Anyway the thread isn't about wanting to be a pro photographer its about how much it sucked that my camera broke. Thanks again to those who offered their help

Ooh anniek, that does sound tempting now that you have thrown in your sigma!! I'll see what this repair place says and let you know. Very kind of you once again! PS, the place I was going is the Camera Clinic in Collingwood. I have read about these guys on a Canon forum and they seem to be highly recommended. Have you heard of them?

Oh man! I just called the Canon Sydney Customer Care line, went through a bazillion prompts, get to the end and hear 'due to unforseen circumstances we are unable to take your call, please try again later!' NOT.MY.DAY. Hmm which little guy is most appropriate .. It would be better if smoke came out his ears. Oh and thanks tlc!

Thanks guys JS I will give them a call and see what they say. Thanks for the advice on the 1000d. I will get the photos off the card if possible. Just not right now. Kirislin the guy at Teds took everything out and cleaned it. He had seen this problem so many times he knew what to try. Then I heard the words I didnt want to hear 'This does not look good' Thanks for trying to help everyone.

Its 2 years old. Cam not knowing any better bought in online and it came from China The guy at Michaels kept going on about how if I had bought it there they would be able to replace it blah blah blah. I cut him off and said sorry but what point is there in you telling me this! I didnt and so you cant! No harm in contacting Canon. Thanks Kirislin. Altheau by bloody eftpos card wouldnt work this morning either! It worked only yesterday. Maybe the gods were just telling me to not spend money because i'll need it for my camera!

I'm so bummed Last night I was using my camera at a function and an message came up saying Error 99 - Shooting is not possible Turn power switch to off and on again or re-install battery. I tried this and it didnt work. Then it told me my CF wasnt formatted (I have been using it for weeks) and then wiped all of my photos. I just took it to Michael's and they said $88 for a quote and estimated about $400 to fix the shutter. Also 4 weeks turn around time Teds said $60 for a quote and approx $600 to fix the shutter. The guys at Teds was great and tried every possible option to fix it there. He has my camera and has many people come in with the same problem. Anywoo he told me the name of where they send it to be fixed so I dont have to wait as long and im going there after work. I'm in tears as I use my camera every day and even had my first paid job this weekend (just a kids birthday party and wasnt getting paid a lot BUT STILL!) Hoping I can borrow one from a friend but it is a 1000d and I want my 40D! Last night was the launch of our new business and I lost all of the photos. Michaels said they could try and retrieve them for $150. Starting our own business means you dont have $$$$$ just lying around. This also means I wont be able to get my Sigma 70-200mm Ok, im finished now. Thanks for listening.

Lexie got a bigger muffin!! They are so gorgeous.

Wolfsong I love the way she is looking at him!! Gorgeous  Measure. Of strength but mostly endurance. Play time is VERY serious and winning is VERY important. They will stick this out until one finally caves. Love. Some of you may know that we got Asha about 2 months ago. These 2 have hit it off better than we could have ever hoped for. Its definately love.

Happy birthday pretty girl!! The 3rd pic looks like Chloe just said to Lexie 'Hey, you know you dont get any cos its MY birthday!' Gorgeous pics as usual

Hi Kelly Louise Remember that little angel I was posting about not so long ago!!

Mmm Asha would LOVE barbies! We now keep all of the bedroom doors closed. She carried my mobile phone out from the lounge room via doggie door and onto the back lawn last week. I got to it before she chewed it thank dog. I have to look around the house with 'Asha eyes' now. Hmm if I was Asha what would taste good..

That's utter rubbish. Howard can definitely spot the new shoes.. its all he seemed to munch on when I was stupid enough to leave them out. That dog should be awarded for his contribution to the Australian footwear industry. :D The really advanced ones can not only detect the new shoes but also the most expensive You know the more I look at that pic of Asha, the more I see Whippet blood in her. :D She is definately a Speedy Gonzalez. See how I found an excuse to post more pics

I think a lot of people will disagree with me but this is a bit of a chicken and egg scenario. I had a dinner party on Saturday night and someone commented on how well behaved my dogs were. They said that, if their dog was as well behaved, they'd be allowed inside more often. My response that mine have been allowed inside (even unsupervised!) from Day 1. Being left alone in the house wasn't an exicting adventure - it was 100% normal. Of course, I have always made sure that everything is put away - even wires if yours is prone to that. The only thing of value that has been destroyed (my Blackberry) was eaten when I was at home. My fault for leaving it within a puppy's reach. Charch was allowed in the house day dot too but having a rescue dog you dont know what their circumstances were.

Miranda she will be 12 months this month (werent given a dob) I have no idea what she is crossed with but suspected Shepherd or Kelpie. She is bloody fast and I know she would love flyball. We would need to work on her coordination skills as she is pretty clumsy! Deelee I know! VERY out of character for a Stafford huh?
