  1. I foster kelpies myself (am currently not fostering due to work and health issues) and have found that rehoming them hasn't been too difficult, you've just got to find the right fit. If you train them well it also helps to entice potential adopters.
  2. My guys are on Supercoat Adult chicken or Active (Pending on availability around here). They were on Mate working dog food but they weren't doing so well on it back then so I've switched them out of it. Supercoat appears to be the only on that Serenity-Jayne doesn't vomit constantly on.
  3. Oh I love khaki campbells :) I'm just not ready for another duck yet since loosing Harmony.
  4. Frontera spray and effipro are the frontline generics
  5. Thank you guys. Its been a terrible week for me. On top of loosing my babies, one of my co-workers was badly bitten by a dog at work (It was just us two on) and the whole dramas within 24 hours has been exhausting. I haven't slept very well the last few nights, but I'm hoping now that I have the rest of today + Sunday + Monday off, I can relax and mourn properly. A very good client/friend of mine brought over two RSPCA roses and a card for me yesterday, she's also bought a couple of ducks apparently to go with my last remaining oldie. I guess I just feel a little lost right now. I keep looking for Harmony especially and its so quiet without her constant chattering
  6. I feed Super coat or Mate working dog food. I tend to buy when its on special and buy a few bags at a time. I also get a free 3kg bag of hills feed every three months from work. Monthly I spend probably $30 for 3 dogs, but that included their bones they get, treats and Paige's osteo support capsules. When I was breeding the Smokey kelpies, I told my buyers the upfront cost, vaccination prices etc. I told them what I fed them on, the rest was up to them. Admittedly I was younger and didn't have the knowledge I do now to inform them of everything else. Although my pups were working bred and mostly went to farms, with the exception of a couple who went as pets.
  7. Harmony, you brought me so many smiles, with your crazy attempts to scare me to death by playing dead, to standing up to the dog and refusing to move until I walked behind you to move you to your pen. I'm sorry our time together has come to an end. We've had an amazing 9 years together, and I would not change it for the world. I almost wish that you would have gone in your sleep, but holding you as you left our lives is something I cherish. You were so strong, you never cried when you first got sick, you stayed strong, you wanted to fight, you wanted to stay. Age was against you when you first got sick, but you bounced back and proved to the world that seizures wouldn't take you away from me. You just weren't strong enough to fight them a second time. I've cried every day since you left me, I miss you so much. People keep saying, "she was just a duck, get another one and get over it", but you were never "just a duck", you've always been my little mate. Rosalie, the day you were brought in, so tiny and young, I felt you were a part of our menagerie before I even declared I'd take you home to join the crew. I don't know what happened, or why you left us, but you will always be my favourite rosella. It has hurt so much to loose you both, but at least you are together, waiting for the rest of your friends. I love you girls, rest in peace.
  8. We use/sell the PAWS range, all my groom dogs are now bathed in their products, and the chews have become quite popular with our geriatric/joint care patients. Pernaese powder has been another item used by clients with success. Also the Hills J/D diet trial we ran had some surprisingly good results. All dogs on the trial (solely on the food and nothing else) showed obvious improvement prior to beginning the diet.
  9. Feet bleed terribly when cut. I would bathe it in some warm salty water, dry it, and pending on the depth of the cut I would possibly bandage it to prevent bacteria and infection developing.
  10. I used to use identifying marks as the form id. The smokey pups all had different markings which made it much easier.
  11. Memory Flowers is a lovely book our clinic has for children that have lost a pet
  12. My foster failure became one as I have yet to find a home who could handle her. She has major behaviour problems and I even struggle with her. I love my Rini to death, but she drives me insane sometimes! If a home more suited to her came up, I would be sad but would give her happy for her to become the best dog she could be, as to me that's the most important thing to come out of fostering rescue dogs, giving them the best opportunity you can. It can be hard, but if your home is perfect for the dog and the bond is there, there may not be a reason to rehome them, but if there is a home/family better suited to the dogs needs, I think we need to do the right thing by the animal and let them go.
  13. I had one dog in temp care here who I wish I could have kept, but she eventually ended up in a fantastic home. Echo was a sweet red cattle girl who bonded straight away with me. She was very timid and terrified of everything, but followed me everywhere. She went to a more permanent foster carer and promptly escaped. I became part of the search team as soon as I was told, but we couldn't find her. A couple of weeks later, she turned up and was at the RSPCA. She came home to me until another more permanent carer could be found, then was adopted. I still think about Echo all the time, but I know she is getting all the love and attention she can get, and at least she doesn't have to put up with my problem furchild.
  14. If you get really stuck, I might be able to do this on Monday or Tuesday arvo, pending work.
  15. And I copied yours as it was pretty much word for word what I was going to write :)
  16. Me too..... I'm so proud I could burst! I hadn't done a thing though! LOL
  17. I got blocked by Christine Humphries on facebook for "harassing pound rounds"
  18. Yeah, thats the only downside, but all my clients are just using tapewormer tablets as well, was working out cheaper for them this way as the panoramis is only $25 dearer than comfortis.
  19. Comfortis also comes in the Panoramis form. Panoramis contains the comfortis flea product, heartworm treatment and intestinal worming. Sentinel doesn't kill adult fleas, but controls the rest of the flea life cycle. You the sentinel with capstar now then swap to panoramis :) ETA - my clinic has just started using panoramis and the feedback so far has been great!
  20. We still have one bottle of Proban here at work Proban was never that popular out this way.
