Communication Breakdown In Rspca Kills Family's Dogs
Everythings Shiny replied to silentchild's topic in In The News
The local paper often covers these stories. The facility was designed to hold two council contracts and adoptions. They now hold 4 contracts and have adoptions mainly from another facility. For the work load they have, they are not big enough. -
Communication Breakdown In Rspca Kills Family's Dogs
Everythings Shiny replied to silentchild's topic in In The News
I never said that they should have been killed! All I said was that this woman has made it out like this was not something that happened before, when in fact they've been a general nuisance in this area. And you don't know what these dogs were like at all, so please take that into account. Yes, maybe the RSPCA should have tried rehoming them, but with a history of repeat escaping amongst other things and the pound beyond full (they are always full as they have 4 council pound contracts) they've done what they have done. I don't personally like that this has happened. I work minutes away from the shelter in question and there is no way they could hold on to these dogs for an indefinite period of time until the bill was paid. It's the owners responsibility to keep their animals in, not council or RSPCA or anyone elses. -

There is so much more to this story than the owner is telling people. These dogs were repeat offenders, being out a total of 11 times in the last few months. -

SAS - We used Helen at K9 physio when Smooch had FCE - it might be worth talking to her and seeing what suggestions or plans she can come up with. ETA - Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you :) -

Capstar used long term can cause gastric ulcers I've been told. Its designed for immediate relief but no long term protection.

We just did two dogs for $160 (that was both). We sent it through our normal blood company and got them back 6 days later. -
Yep. Tends to be the way. I find that the week leading into a holiday period, everyone wants things done.

Groomers, What Do You Do About Cracked Hands.
Everythings Shiny replied to pesh's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I changed shampoos and moisturise my hands between grooms. My hands, especially my knuckles are prone to cracking. ETA - I use dermaveen moisturiser - this was recommended to me by my mothers burns specialist to keep her hand moisturised. I also use Arton's ointment (can be hard to get but I get it from Pharmacy Direct) to help heal up any cracks. -
Nope, shouldn't have any left down there especially if under an anaesthetic having it done. Sometimes its hard if the dog is awake, but if they're asleep it should be fairly simple and should be clean when done.

How Much Do You Pay For A C5?
Everythings Shiny replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would ask again KC - generally the quote for a c5 is for the yearly one, not the triannual one. -
Supplements For Older Dogs
Everythings Shiny replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My work place has been doing a trial over the last 12 months or so of Hills J/d food. We've used that as the complete diet in some of our really arthritic patients and had some really good success with it. You don't add any supplements with it as it can throw out the balances. -

We are $87 with a consult -
Cost of immunisation involves the consult (health check) plus the cost of the needle and syringe plus the water for injection, or in some cases syringe with sterile diluent already in it (about $8 per syringe cost price to the clinic), then you also have the vets wage to cover for their time in there vaccinating, plus the money they need to recoup for their HECS fees.
