  1. I've decided I'm going to try leaving her with my mum for the first couple of weeks... see if that works, I just hope she behaves herself, she's a tad spoilt.
  2. If I put SJ into boarding it would have to be for two days a week I don't really want to do it, so I am looking at other options as well.
  3. How far is that from Epping - I'll be staying in Epping and working in Carlingford.
  4. Hi Guys I'm looking for kennel reccommendations for my Gorgeous Serenity-Jayne. I may need to take her to Sydney with me two days a week while I work.
  5. Yeah, a lot of NSAIDs are going up in price ATM.
  6. A friend of mine who had a parvo outbreak sprayed with trigene, lime covering soaking in with water and a couple of other things - will find out what else she did - It killed the grass but the grass did grow back after a while.
  7. All the girls i've owned have been very predictable in that sense, but I did have a undesexed foster dog who was fine for a fair while before losing the plot and savaging Paige (who didn't fight back at all). Depends on the individual dog really.
  8. My oldest female Paige will take any dog under her wing - all our foster dogs become 'hers'. When we got our foster failure Serenity-Jayne - Paige dotted on her. Even fosters that have been nasty to her, she still tries to mother.
  9. Sometimes a chip wont show up in initial scans - ie the battery is almost flat etc. We've had it happen where I work, I usually scan over with two scanners to ensure that there is not a chip if the 1st one doesn't register a chip on it.
  10. Any of these designer breeds are not true breeds, they are crosses. Also - many many of these dogs have come through my work - majority of them are idiots - but that may be because the owners haven't trained them at all.
  11. Sentinel done nothing on my pack - comfortis is the only way to do with mine.
  12. SK - Not once has my clinic had a reaction from the HWI. Ive had my 4 dogs done every year for the last 10 years, one particularly is allergic and reacts to everything - but the HWI does nothing to her. AFAIK - the aussie HWI is a different chemical make up to the US one that killed some dogs.
  13. We have a breeder using it with no ill effects. All his poms and beagles are on it.
  14. If there is only a couple of fleas - maybe use a capstar to kill those fleas on him. If he kept getting them, I'd be changing to some other product. IMO Frontline doesn't work in our area. Majority of our clients have switched to comfortis because of this.
  15. Malaseb would be much better than the dermotic IMHO
  16. All our staff use it. Reps told us must be given with a meal as it works best when the stomach is actively digesting to get the best out of it. My 3 dogs + 1 rescue haven't had any troubles.
  17. That's a good point. I think in life generally people should have access to a few thousand in emergency funds (even if this is a credit card). I understand that vets have trouble with people not paying bills. But many professionals and small companies I know of invoice their clients after a service is rendered, and therefore chase bad debtors when they arise, then why can't vets? It used to be done this way, but too many people ruined it by not paying at all.
  18. If people can't pay, they are refused service or recommended to the RSPCA who is a charity. Vets aren't charity i'm affraid, money doesn't grow on trees, and bank rolling people with unknown credentials is not something they can just do.
  19. Thanks guys. I had a talk to his vet this morning, who knows him and me extremely well. He's advised me I need to think seriously about what to do with him as it's not just physically that he's hurting me and the other animals, he's also bringing us down mentally and it's not fair to him as I am starting to hate the dog he is becoming. I'm just very lost on what to do atm as I do love him, but I need to put the rest of the animals mental and physical well-being first.... not a decision I want to rush into though ;)
  20. Our ducks have very good containment fencing as another dog is a killer as well. D wasn't happy with me taking the body this time (other times he's though of it as a game) The ducks (hopefully) can't get as close to his yard now, we've put some barriers up around the area we think he got Drakey.
  21. Things have gone from bad to worse. Yesterday D killed a pet duck - not totally his fault, not sure what exactly happened, but D managed to get hold of it and dragged Drakey into his yard and was munching when I got home from work. I think we only have one option left and it's not something I want to do, but to keep my other pets safe, i think it's now time to PTS - as much as it hurts me to say it.... I need to put my other animals first ;) RIP Drakey.
