Very nice Cider Very interesting as I put the articles out by hand earlier in the evening. I had forgotten that I had and did SD with both my dogs with 3 of my own articles. Both boys picked the correct articles easily. It just goes to show that the dogs learn the hot scent. I also have never been pedantic about airing off articles because I'm lazy. My trialling set (which also doubles as my training set :D )sits in the car sealed up until I trial ;)

JMO but I wouldn't proceed with scent work with the leathers until she can pick them without chewing them.
-
Very nice Rivsky Love the dumbell pick up
-
Well put Vickie.
-
Are you using the same scented article or are you doing a fresh scent on an aired article each time??
-
I'd say she's using what time she has to train .....and to pack boxes as settlement of the house is getting closer ......not to mention trying to get people out to repair the house and fence damage from the storm so that settlement isn't delayed ...excuses, excuses
-
I'd say she's using what time she has to train

BY George I think she's got it. Up to 5 unscented metals and 1 scents one and she has now started sniffing them all and making the correct decision when she gets to the right one. Have added two more unscented metals for tomorrows session - I leave them on the front lawn overnight Go Cider. Let's hope the articles are there in the morning or you'll be starting on seek back

Here is Team Toller

Me too

Goodonya Yes I always start with metals - and then go woods and finally leathers. My kids have always found the leathers the hardest. OH and I think from memory the dogscout article says to throw your scented article - well my throwing sucks - so I tend to walk closer and do a little toss or place it  It's a great method to teach SD! What other exercises are you doing with Cider???

Dog Breaking From Sit Into A Drop
caffy replied to 4 Paws's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Are you entering an obedience trial??????? Snazzy will pop up into a sit from a drop stay if I turn on the hose....guess what we've been doing?? -
The poo looked like a small clump of grass...someone must have wiped it off their shoe. Lots of people use those grounds ...that's why we proof everything but sometimes the distractions are a bit much on the day.

Huski - Ask to see the Alex round - go on I dare you (I can see Bedazzled placing her hand on her head now and going "OH NO")! Let's see...how many bottles of wine for me to delete all sound from Alex's video...hmmmm?????????? I'm sure you meant to call Alex a RED head

Heel free. Ruby's heelwork was stunning There were lots of smells in that ring.
-
199 - 1st place - OK??? :D No wonder your dogs are so bloody fantastic...you are the ultimate perfectionist Dat's me Oh ok....SNAZZY WON NOVICE ON 199!!!!!!!! ...and it was me that lost the point!!! Good boy Snazzy
-
Oh no...I've decided the handler is flakey Alex did a nice UD round despite the poo in the SD pile which caused a dropped article and he missed his drop in signals. Nice work until then. Snazzy passed Novice with 199. He did ok but it was a very loud Open ring next to us. At one stage I heard the dog take out the solid jump.

Some really nice work Rubystar
-
I do as well. I say wait for a recall and stay for everything else...just habit
-
Oh I remember! We just did our first Novice round under the new rules last week...I had it in my head that the recall was the last exercise(as in the old days). I have no current rule book so I got onto YT to watch a round of Novice just prior to going to the trial ;) I would recommend being a little bit more prepared for a trial than that

When is your agility DVD coming out Ptolomy????
-
Hey Ptolomy...I hear you're giving up obedience to do agility fulltime
-
Beautiful work Rubystar That fig8 was spot on There were a lot of distractions ringside and Ruby was a star
-
or bloody gloves......don't take to me about that one It will actually make you a better handler in the long run - or so I keep telling myself Scoota's round was brilliant...smooth as. Shame about the glove
-
Proud as punch of the dusted off agility dog....Snazzy entered his first obedience trial and won Novice on 198 Congrats to Rubystar...you must be ecstatic with your SFE and fig 8 and congrats to bedazzled again for passing UD and Open
