  1. You're so right!! I was all alone!! I'm in Melbourne and we started at the same time as angelsophie, poocow and a little before the rest of the gang on here. Are you down here? *will go back now to look at your posts* Edit: Ohh you're a super noob!! Well awesome I haven't, not really. Everyone has been super super supportive. I do hear a niggle here and there, but nothing more than a bit of competitive opinion - and it's also got to do with me asking lots of questions about the breed and people telling me their honest opinio! Everyone seems to get along really well, the samoyed people organise for everyone to bring along some food to share at big shows - like the Royal and Sunbury - and almost everyone gets involved As far as 'show ring' as in involving judges etc... i've heard of a bit but not experienced or witnessed it and i'm not saying any more cos i dont want to get in trouble from Troy :p
  2. We went to the beach last saturday and Fletcher suffered from this.... but also vomited a lot and really just got majorly sick from drinking so much salt water. He got home and barely moved till the next morning, it was sad, because he had had so much fun that day!!
  3. Weeee! I'm excited... they'll make me feel like we didnt *completely* miss out, haha!
  4. ;) Any updates on the pup, gaawjustaffys?
  5. Oh did you get mine? and Fletcher is Snerzok Jedi Fletcher.
  6. From OPs thread in breeders: I can't believe anyone would trust advice given by people over the internet over consulting a vet. Anyone could be on here!? To be on breeders section you just need a prefix - and we all know there are good and bad registered breeders. I can't believe this pup hasn't been to see a vet sooner.

I really like the name! Who is he from?
  8. HUGE! haha. He got Best Minor Puppy in Show two weeks ago, did i brag in here about that? haha... and Saturday just gone he had his first day in puppies (exactly 9 months on Saturday) and he went Puppy in Group and 2nd Puppy Sweepstakes from 30+ pups, so we were super impressed!!! http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=41722 see the last photo there for the most recent head shot, love that photo!
  9. LOL this reminds me of a Simpsons episode hahahaha. Go for the Eucalyptus, but as i said in the spitz forum try not to get it directly on her skin too much.
  10. Hi ange We're relatively new too! Those photos look fantastic, Max is beautiful. I just love the moving shot!
  11. I've tried to contact them on a few occasions - not to ask for money - just to let them know what one of the dog's theyve bred has been through. I got the husband or the daughter and was told the wife/mum would call me back, i've tried 3 times, last time in February... they don't have the internet, i got the point. I saw them at a show last week and really wanted try again, but by the time i worked out what to say (without being angry!) i couldn't find them. Next time, when he's with us supporting his fluffy brother, i will take him over and tell them his story. My issue isn't the money (i mean its ridiculous, and it is an issue, but it's not the main problem here) my issue is just that they are have shown little/no interest in this genetic problem, turning a blind eye, and it's just really upsetting. They told me when i bought him if i ever wanted to show him down the track that he has perfect eyes being 'large and globular' .. you can see in the pics of him at 8 weeks that they were going to be a problem, they don't look right at all (i wish i had have known at the time) I'm so glad that line has since been removed from the Pug standard. While a huge part of me regrets handing my money over to them and wishing i had have done more research before just assuming that all registered breeders were ethical, a huger part of me is glad that my ignorance led me to this boy so that we could give him 100% attention and care and in return we have the greatest little guy in the world. Exposure and irritation. He couldn't close his eyes fully, so he was never able to blink and flush away dirt/wind etc. Thanks so much for your well wishes everyone!! Hugo has bounced back brilliantly today. Fletcher doesn't like the elizabethan collar though and is trying to remove it for him Can't wait for the suture to come out and the swelling to go down to see if this is all going to pay off - looks great so far.
  12. That's my understanding too, but wouldn't say it's old/middle age... Hugo's been doing it occasionally since about 6 months old, at other times he has really great breathing (none of that 'pug breathing/snorting' sound), it also got much worse during the time that had kennel cough earlier in the year.
  13. Interesting! They didn't mention tacking sutures. Hopefully it still does the job with out them!
  14. Tell me about it :D Thanks for the vibes everyone.. they're working.. i got his lead out to take him outside to the toilet and suddenly he wasn't groggy anymore he's been snuffling around for food so i gave him some chicken which he scoffed. That was enough though, back on the couch with his daddy now! edit: puggy puggy, when you say they dont look as slit eyed, i wonder if thats good or bad? is it because they were so huge to start with? once the swelling goes down, will it not be enough? maybe he's not actually all that swollen? ... hmmmm...
  15. Just wanted to share photos of Hugo's eyes and how they've changed in his short life. Hopefully this last surgery, which he had this morning, will be enough to prevent any more problems. 8 weeks old 5 months old, conjunctival graft for an ulcer which 12 hours later became a 'melting cornea' while on antibiotics. 6 months age, the conjunctival graft was removed 7 months, still suffering from ulcers and inflamation 7.5 months, surgery to make openings smaller to hopefully prevent more problems 19 months (last week) Still big and having inflammatory problems and early signs of pigmentary kerititis Today, a specialist surgery to close eyes medially too, and fix laterally which had stretched since their original surgery With his carer He's still super sleepy and his eyes are quite swollen, so please send us your healing vibes for a quick recovery!!
  16. The 'opposite' gender. So Taite's a boy, the girl must have gotten Best Baby Puppy of Breed and Taite got Best Baby Puppy Dog. And well done to him and TS!!!
  17. Oh my, i just love this one!! If you want to practice on a fluffy dog, this is my absoloute favourite photo... Huugz has some nice wrinkles in this pic which will be fun too haha. I'd love to see it as a sketch:
  18. Yesterday Fletcher rolled on his back for a belly rub and i noticed his scrotum was bright red - mostly just on one side. Had a closer look and it was a bit scabby, the scabs flicked off easily but it was a bit weepy. I went to work and spoke to the vets and took home some Silvazine which seems to be a pretty magical cream in many wounds that i've seen in patients.... it's been 24 hours and its the same as it was. I think i threw myself off though a bit because i used his new hair dryer for the first time on Sunday and so at first i thought maybe because it's so sensitive i'd burnt him... But now i think it's more like chaffing from how muddy he got at herding during the day on Sunday. Don't really know what's caused it, would love to know how to make him feel better because it's very itchy and i've caught him many times licking at them when i'm not watching. Anyone had any experience with this before, any tips or other things i could try? Thanks!
  19. With Fletcher i got the standard vacc/worming/microchip info, puppy info, copy of his blood test (clear of liver shunt) apparently they normally give a good Samoyed comb but they didn't have any at the time (they come over from England) But i ended up getting one last month off them anyway :D With Hugo i got some of his food that he was on, vacc/worming info, plus i got his two favourite toys. A *giant* (at the time, for him) purple barney toy and this little squishy soft ball which is STILL his all time favourite toy. Unfortunately he doesn't get to play with it so much because his (now)*giant* baby brother attempts to destroy it. I think the favourite toy thing was really sweet. He was the last from the litter there and when i went to see him and then pick him up he really did love these two toys. I think breed specific info is a really good idea - ie. grooming a samoyed. It hasn't been a problem for me because i'm good at google - but i see many people that get long coated breeds that clearly don't know where to start. There's been tonnes of other great ideas on here that i don't need to add anything and i tell you what, if i ever do breed i'll be coming back here for what has been suggested.
  20. Hi SnoPaws!! We train at Knox Obedience Club. Most training is done on a Sunday morning, tests to pass up levels etc are done on the last or second last sunday of the month (depending on the level your in) **BUT** in Summer (during daylight savings) they have Tuesday evening classes. Last summer (only had Hugo then) I only trained on the tuesday nights because it was run by my favourite instructor, and i preferred it to the early mornings! I only went to the Sunday classes on testing days (when i thought Hugo was in with a chance to pass) This year i plan to take Hugo on the tuesday and Fletcher on the sunday/or to a show if we have one. Just another option
  21. Only just saw this now. I no longer give Hugo (the pug) chicken necks because he started swallowing them whole. One time he threw it up two days later, still whole. I now give him chicken wings and frames instead because he chews them, the necks are far too.... "neck" sized!!
  22. Thanks R&A! I've only ever been told Kate Beckinsale, not that i would ever say that though! She's way pretty! I'm glad you liked my photos
