Just been in to Proston and the dog people are doing the best they can to make it usable for us, it was hot underfoot and it will be hard to sit near rings for those that like too but if that is it then we have to either put up with it or stay home I guess. Narelle

Hard Tennis courts, whatever that surface is, LOL, walked around on it today in bare feet and it was warm and today was a mild day, god help us if Saturday is HOT.............

Proston QLD. Show society Dog section, this Saturday is our local ag show and we have been pushed out of our show rings into the tennis courts,,,,,,,, yep on hard surface, so if it is hot we may have some feet problems with dogs not to mention us. We dog people are treated bad at ag shows and we pay big entries for the privilege.

Structurally fine Monah just we were locked in for over 5 day one time and 4 other times for a day or two and the supplies for animals and humans ran low, it was lovely to be included in the food/care package drop off, our dog people can be so good in bad times. -
I am writing on behalf of Myself (foxhounds, whippets,Vizsla), Debbie (English Springers), Kerry Mc(Shepard's,Belgians) and Gail(Labs), we have just returned home from picking up some dog food and care packs (Human) from Tom's place, to the wonderful committee of people who organised it we appreciate it immensely. I only know the name of one lady Carol Thompson? but I know many other's were in the organising and donation side of it all. THANK YOU so much, we often feel forgotten out here in the bush and this has lifted our spirits heaps. Regards Narelle O'Neill Proston QLD

I am placing this on here as I copied it from Oz Show group. Regards Narelle... The Bundaberg Canine Club Inc wishes to advise that due to the level of devastation caused by the Queensland floods, our February Championship Shows will be postponed. The proposed date for these shows will be in conjunction with our Easter Shows. The Club feels in respect to those Dogs Queensland members & all Queenslander who have lost so much in the floods, postponing these shows is a heartfelt necessity. The judges who are contracted for February regrettably are not able to attend for Easter and have agreed to be re-contracted for February 2012. We will notify you as soon as possible who our judges will be. Any exhibitors wishing to be refunded for these shows, on contact with the club secretary or show secretary in writing, including a stamped return envelope, will have their money returned. Otherwise these monies received will be carried over to the shows on the proposed dates. At this stage the proposed dates for the February Shows are Easter Sunday 24 04.2011, starting at 8.30 am and Tuesday 26.04.2011 starting at 8.30 am. Thank you for your understanding in this major decision. Bundaberg Canine Club Inc Secretary: Margaret Norton PO Box 7370 BUNDABERG NORTH QLD 4670 Ph: (07) 4157 8338

I have just had an update from the show grounds manager, our rings in front of our canteen are still out of water but the parking area across from the rings are under water. The campers that were going to arrive on Wednesday please postpone your arrival. The camping area at the top of the hill has also got boggy areas. The best place to camp is where the side show alley is situated. We will go out to the showgrounds on Wednesday afternoon to assess the situation. We might have to find higher grounds for the rings but then we have problem with lights. Hopefully tomorrow night we will have more information for you. Please forward this on to other exhibitors. Cheers Pam I think for safety the show should be cancelled, even if they go ahead there will be more absentees than participants, most of the areas are cut with some sort of water, come on committee just cancel, lives are more important than shows in my opinion any way. Narelle

Hi Monah, I am the person that Dyzney was talking about, you know me I am Zsa's (Vizsla) mum. I will Attempt to tell you a bit about the English Foxhound,. First of all they are a hound and a pack animal so most people assume they do not make good pets, wrong, if you get them from baby and as long as you don't through them in a yard alone and never do anything with them then they can be as affectionate as any other dog, my sister s Blue boy thinks he is a little dog and try's to climb on her knee, he has grown up with a Manchester so thinks he is one of them, Blue's brother that is owned by a young lass in Brisbane is a house dog and sleeps on her bed with the cat and her beagle. My own Foxhounds do live outside but come in for baths, toenail etc and are very well mannered when inside. Hennessy is Blue's brother and I have had him since 8 weeks old and he is a real soft sweet boy and a great show dog to boot but he hates travelling so sometimes he is hard to get in the trailer. Nettle was 2 year old when I got her, she is from the Melbourne Hunt Club and had hunted for a season and a half, it took a while to settle her into a routine of our dogs and more people as well as the show scene but she is coming good after 6 mths, she has the sweetest nature and has taken me as her owner. Hopscotch is a 6 year old boy who has only been with us for 2 mths, his owner was the breeder of Hennessy and Blue and we lost her to cancer in Feb. she wanted Hoppy to come live with me and it has been a big change for him but he has settled great and loves to go in trailer as that means he isn't staying home alone, once again the PACK situation comes out. I have had a few other foxhounds over the years but that should give you an idea, oh one more I will tell you about is Spinner, I bought Spinner purely as a pet and he was 5 mths old by the time he fly up from Sydney to QLD and I will honestly say he never did settle with other people that came to visit and it took me a good 6 mths before I could catch him easy, FOOD didn't even work. So there we have it I hope that helps, they are a BIG dog as well and usually weigh around the 30 to 40 kg mark, you have no idea how many people say to me "I thought they were smaller" and I say that is because you see picture of them standing beside horses and they do look smaller then. Oh and they come in any Hound colour which means basically anything bar Brindle, Tri, Red/White, Black/White, Pied, Mottle, and pure white.

That would be great Helen, I know Peter will treasure it and their Granddaughter Jaz is a dog lover as well so she make take it all up one day. And Narelle I will make an effort to find the lovely pic I have of Mingus Hound Hastings when I had him up at home in NZ when the Hewitt's were overseas. It is a lovely one of him in the snow

I am going to print every one of your replies and make a booklet for Peter, the girls and grand kids, I am sure one day when the hurt eases it will bring comfort to them to know you all cared. Regards Narelle

Re: Jan Edwards (Jeffs) I never thought of cards, Peter and Jan address is Moggill Pet Motel 564 Kangaroo Gully Rd, Moggill 4070 QLD. The CCC(Qld) might do something I am not sure but you are right she was a great ambassador and her and Peter's commentary at the EKKA each year was great as it made the dog showing easier to understand for the general public.

Jan Edwards was a well known All breeds Judge, Committee member of the CCCQ, a main organiser of Dog of the Year and Puppy of the Year QLD, owner of Moggil Pet Motel QLD and the breeder of 'Mingus' Beagles and Foxhounds. I have 3 of Jan's Foxhounds and you will find there profile on DOL so I feel I have the right to post to the forum.
