Our dogs get Sentinel Spectrum every month, and if I see them itching or see a flea I give them a Capstar. I have only ever found one flea on one of them and brushed it off as a random passenger as we've never had a problem. Over the past couple of days I noticed Mosley chewing at the base of his tail....I touched it and I can feel a scab under there. I know this is a common spot for flea allergy, but I'm wondering if just one or two bites could cause this as he definitely isn't crawling with them or anything. I don't know if I should take him to the vet or just give him a Capstar and keep the scab clean till it heals, and maybe change him onto a different flea preventative? Opinions?

I have been commuting abd have just found a new job after over 12 months of searching so i know how disappointed you must be sbout not getting the transfer. It sucks. You know your guys aren't evil, what a stupid thing to say anyway?! Forget them. I hope you're feeling better this morning, dad like that need to just p*ss off. Hugs. I hope you get the opportunity to work closer to home. I think a liot of people who do, take it for granted, until you lose 2-3 hours a day you don't realise how exhausting and depressing it can be.

Apparently so. I have a friend who saw a marathon runner die in front of him from this.... over hydrating. Yes, there was a woman who drank a heap of water without going to the toilet for a competition on the radio a few years ago, she died from it.

Whoops, read the OP wrong. I hope she comes home soon :)

Oh my gosh , so glad she is ok. So it basically dilutes all the sodium/electrolytes they have? Thanks for the warning, although mine aren't into water, good to know. You must have been beside yourselves

When I had my girl at the vet recently for a tummy upset (turned out to be Colitis) the vet mentioned foreign objects and told me about a dog she had in that week that had a belly full of stones. Seems a few doggies do it! I'm not sure of the reasons though.

Were talking about a wild carnivore, people make it sound like foxes hunt out of malice and are vicious by choice??

They rehome to families that can contain them. I'm probably the cause of more lamb deaths than they would be. How true. Almost every lamb born is killed & eaten by humans eventually. How is our killing more humane & justified. Because they are not left half chewed and still alive suffering in the paddock. You think a slaughterhouse is any nicer? It take it you don't eat meat or do you think the stuff at the shop magically appears from thin air!!! I don't eat any animal products.

I agree and never question the price of puppies, but most people really don't know that it can be so difficult. I think it would be good to have a reality show about breeding that showed the things that can go wrong. I reckon that would freak out a few morons who thought they wanted to BYB. Baby Dobes  I'd pay anything!

Seeking A Cheaper Spinal Vet
Dame Aussie replied to capanash's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Check with Lort Smith, they do stuff like that sometimes. How horrid I really hope they can find someone, or the money to have it done. -
Oh look at him! What a handsome man :) Good on you for taking him on, he wouldn't leave my house either ;)

I've known people who walk with big sticks. Ridiculous you should even have to though!

Some councils require dogs to be desexed (it's mandatory) before they leave the pound.

Can't be bothered

Christ Nic, that's terrible Glad you and Fern are ok. We had to kick a dog that rushed us snarling and trying to get at our dogs the other day, luckily it buggered off.

Some people have too much time on their hands. I have to agree that cats do more damage than foxes.

I'm not a breeder but if I were and was breeding dogs for pets, temperament would probably be the first thing I'd look at, along with health.
-
Dogs don't normally have the sac removed when desexed and as Kirty said it normally shrivels up. Poor boy, I hope it's all sorted soon.

I don't know if we have any but it's quite possible! There's a few unknown plants in corners of the yard!
