When Were You Convinced Your Dog Could Understand English?
Dame Aussie replied to Leah82's topic in General Dog Discussion
Reminds me of my Mum telling me that my grandmother had come into her one day and told her that the next door neighbors dog understood Turkish  -
I use sentinel spectrum if we've seen fleas and interceptor if not for my Aussie. Just be careful because it isn't only ivermectin which is a problem. This is a good site with a list of drugs and I believe Gribbles do the test :) www.busteralert.org/

When Did You Cut Your Dogs Nails Last.

He says on his site that he is. He treats dogs for anxiety & hyperactivity. My daughter's male dog is a chronic tail biter & she has tried everything to stop him injuring himself. Both dogs are also bad play biters, which until now they have been allowed to get away with as just dogs being dogs. My daughter lives in Cockatoo, so he is charging $100 an hour because of the distance, which I thought was a bit over the top. If anyone has any recommendations of another behaviourist in the Cockatoo area, please let me know, in case Tim doesn't work out. Ahh ok, could be worth a go! I don't have any knowledge of him myself but there seems to be some good experiences here :)

Is he actually a behaviourist? That link perse posted talks about therapy for pain?

Dangers Of Vaccinating Small To Medium Dogs.

The heartworm injection is so popular, I hear of loads of people who get it. -

"Staffies might look mean"???? Jesus I have an active herding breed and am not single and do not do fun runs, she is healthy and happy. My other dog is too big for their recommendations...even though he is wonderful with children. One sentence says get a dog that doesn't need much attention, then the next recommends a CKCS....WTF are these people on? Every dog needs attention and CKCS especially! They have missed the opportunity to actually educate people once again....

Mosley is our chewer.... He ate over 100 glucosamine capsules one time and vomited them up all over the house. Then brought a dead, maggot riddled blue tongue tail into the house and proceeded to munch it on the rug. One day he found a dead baby bird that had fallen out of its nest, I walked out and he was chewing away on it I could go on.... He's feral really. He's eaten all kinds of things, I've listed them before, he's ridiculous.

OMFG Moose, HE'S TOO CUTE

How Would You Feel About This Situation?
Dame Aussie replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our council laws say that you must be in control of your dog at all times. Neither owner was in control of there dog here. With regards to socialising, socialising isn't taking a dog to an uncontrolled situation. If they wanted to socialise a DA dog they should consult a professional and do it in a controlled - leashed - setting. I know that, I just meant that there is no law against taking aggressive dogs to parks. -

I know if I had a dog aggressive dog there's no way I'd be taking it to an off lead area. You could be right about them trying to socialise the dog but if that was the case they should have asked you and let you know to keep your dogs away. -

I would say technically you were in the wrong by letting your dog approach the other dog. Having said that though, I do agree that it isn't the best place for a dog aggressive dog to be, but unfortunately there's no law to back that up :/ -
Impounded Bull Breed Put Down Before Breed Assessment In Nsw
Dame Aussie replied to BlackJaq's topic in In The News
With that info I'd blame the owners completely. Hope they don't get another dog. -
I don't know how I feel about it really. She is obviously being cared for but I don't think we can say whether she has any quality of life without actually being there and living with her. I just hope she is happy and kept comfortable T, I agree :)

Impounded Bull Breed Put Down Before Breed Assessment In Nsw
Dame Aussie replied to BlackJaq's topic in In The News
Ummm... under NSW legislation the dog would have been declared a restricted breed and the owners would have needed to comply with strict guidelines in order to keep it. All could have been avoided if the dog was actually microchipped and registered with council... T. Yeah what the? There are restrictions to follow, not just "dog dies". Council shouldn't have done it and owners should have had ID on their dog. Not to mention you should never take a pounds word about a dog being there or not, you need to go in and look yourself. -

This is my two. They get a lamb neck or chicken frame for brekkie, veg/fish bit of dry for dinner + a treat once a day + tidbits + bones  My Anatolian weighs 50kg now and is nice and lean and my Aussie is about 23kg and even with almost as much food as he eats I barely keep the weight on her! Shes a maniac though and expends loads of energy just existing

The skipping type movement sounds like a luxating patella issue. That's what one of our guys used to do and he had to have both of his operated on, he was quite a small dog though. I hope you get some answers

Pound Surrender Fees
Dame Aussie replied to stellnme's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Yes the different amounts is a worry. As for my area, last time I checked LDH charge $22 for dogs and $11 for cats. Very reasonable.
