Where Will Your Next Dog Come From
Dame Aussie replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our next dog is going to be an American Staffy pup. Not for a few years though! Bought from a registered, reputable breeder. Not necessarily on DOL though. I would never buy from a pet shop, but years ago I would have bought from the paper etc. I know better now If I was after an older dog I'd rescue. -
What a lovely post Persephone, almost made me cry!! I agree, I can understand you want to keep your friend with you, but it won't be your friend anymore. There are places which will put your pets ashes into jewellery etc...I know you aren't keen on cremation but I've always thought this was a lovely idea. http://www.ashestoashes.com/ BEst wishes and good luck with your decision

I'd say a German Shepherd, however my first though too was a Kelpie! Definitely a working dog. What a cool old photo

What's The Most Disgusting Thing Your Dog Has Done?

I'll have to get a picture but Mosley is so big he takes up a 3 seater couch when stretched out, which is the usual for him. OH and I have to sit on the other couch together with Lili squished in the middle...

Back Yard - How Small Is Too Small?
Dame Aussie replied to samoyedman's topic in General Dog Discussion
When we've talked about buying a place the first thing we think of is the size of the yard (spoilt rotten dogs), having said that though, if the dog is walked and mentally stimulated I think he'll be fine. To me, it's more about the time you spend with the dog than the size of the yard. -
That is unbelievable Willow, good on you for telling her how it is. So sad, I hope the wee dog gets a great home. ETA:Spelling!

Whats The Worst Your Dog Has Done To Hurt You

I got home from work one day to a very excited dog, she jumped up at me and whacked me right in the nose....the pain....and it bled for about 5 minutes. -
What's The Most Disgusting Thing Your Dog Has Done?
Dame Aussie replied to Dame Aussie's topic in General Dog Discussion
We used to have ducks when I was little and one of them would lay her eggs in a secret spot so we'd be forever hunting for them :D Well we obviously missed some because one day our two little chi x's (who are now 14 years young) came in the house smelling like death. We figured out they'd been rolling in some rotten eggs, my god, I've never smelt anything like it in my life and don't think I ever will. Took us days to get the smell out of them, rubbing them down with vanilla essence and everything :D -

I'm sure there's been a similar thread to this before, but just wondering... what is the most horrible thing your dog has done? Yesterday when I got home from work Mosley was sitting in the yard looking quite pleased with himself, chewing, and I mean chewing, like a cow..... OH went over and had a look and said he though it was a nectarine (we have a tree), so we didn't worry too much, he normally eats the flesh and leaves the pip...anyway....it kept on going for ages, so I went over and told him to leave it, which he did, bless his heart...and I almost chucked... It was a baby bird :D There were guts spurting out everywhere ....needless to say he's is NOT allowed to give us kisses for the next ten years or so. Soooo, what is the grossest thing your dog has done/eaten??

A Couple Of "household With Two Dogs" Questions ..
Dame Aussie replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
It is comforting to know they have each other, but as others said that can mean they have a partner in crime! It can mean they are a bit more hectic, one is always stirring the other up :D We probably spend more time with ours now we have two, double everything. Not to mention double the vet bills Having said that though I love both my dogs and wouldn't go back to having just one. -

How Often Do You Bathe Your Dog?
Dame Aussie replied to chichihuahua's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our two, especially our Aussie, never smell or look dirty/oily, we haven't bathed them for months -
Uhm, why do you think the OP should pay the entire bill? If her dog had not been there, I doubt there would have been an injury. I agree with lorraine, people get talking to rellies, around the water cooler at work, etc. And can I add that situations and peoples attitudes can change. Currently going through a situation with a tenant which started out fantastic for about 5 years and has now turned sour. Her dog LIVES there????!!!!! Sorry but I don't think the OP is responsible at all. Yes maybe offer a bit to keep the relationship good, but honestly, THEIR puppy stuck ITS paw into THE OP'S yard....

The wee freak..... We were walking the dogs one night when we came past this little boy with his parents, he was about 8, so not that young, and he started screaming and running around (he wasn't scared, he was trying to be funny and work the dogs up) and really freaked Lili out, to the point where she was barking at him. I told him (and his parents) very loudly that he shouldnt scream and run around strange dogs. Little shit.

I agree with this.

Bloody Drinkers And Their Bloody Glass Bottles
Dame Aussie replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Poor wee man Hope he's feeling better soon Kirislin. We have broken glass all over the footpaths near our house, isn't it the councils job to keep the walkways safe??? I hate it, makes me sooo mad.
